White-out conditions are blurring the view from my window. :anothersnowman:

Share how many inches you've gotten, this hour, this day, this week, this month or this year, whichever number is important to you! I just want to hear how much you got!

Snow kisses,

This is the first time since the 1800's that we have had snow like this. The first storm dumped about 3 feet in some areas. Then yesterdays storm dumped another 20+ inches of snow.

The snow is so deep that the children can't play outside in it. It is above their heads.

Most major expressways are being snowplowed and salted. Minor roads/streets and side roads need back hoes to dig them out.

Most gas stations have pretty much run out of gas. Grocery stores have run out of food. Even Dollar Stores are out of stock.

One of the major problems we have now is where to put the snow. It is just such an overwhelming amount. People's roofs are caving in. The aluminum car covers and garage type of sheds are also collaping from the heaviness of the snow.

Power outages are common. Thank God I have power. If I didn't, I would have to walk to a hotel or some where else of the like. I just cannot imagine living for weeks on end without power. Even having a generator, and having to hook up all the electrical cords attached to that. Just too much.

Some folks are using their fireplaces around the clock, and forget about them, and then you see on the news how houses are being burnt to the ground from a spark or two. Fire hydrants are impossible to see. Even when digging them out, or with the metal flags on them, they are still buried in the snow or have broken off with the brutal wind gusts.

I have been trying to keep a small area for Dino to go to the bathroom. He has to see green grass to go. Well, I gave up on that after the 1st storm. Dino is bundled up in a thick sweater.

I have had enough of the snow. I hope and pray that this is it for us. It really has stopped everything here. Literally everything. :praying:

We've had three ( I think ) rounds of snow/ sleet/ ice/ freezing rain thus far. That's a lot for this area, which might typically get a good bout once a season.
That on top of the three or so weeks of sub zero temps here have made for a rather unpleasant Winter.

This is the South by golly! If I had wanted this I would be up North!!! LOL!

I'm not sure anymore what the totals are we have gotten here. I have been too bummed about it to keep up!

Andrew! Dude! Sounds really rough. You be careful and stay warm!

Last year this time all I could see out my front window was the snowbank. This year I haven't even worn boots yet. We get the odd couple of inches and then it rains or we have a warm day and it all goes away. No chance at all of ignoring all that dog poop out on the lawn. :eyebrow:

We got a foot of snow Sunday night and into Monday morning. It's barely starting to melt today. I've kinda been enjoying the time off of work :)

none - it's been like a crisp spring day here today.....thankfully.

In the town I live we had all our snow over the holiday period and haven't seen any since...that's not the case for other towns in the UK though.

I use to live in the Adirondacks in a beautiful village by Lake George. I loved it there but the winters were too cold, too long and the novelty of snow wore off after the first winter.

I moved to southern va for 4 seasons and mild winters. This season I feel like I'm in NY. We have had 3 snow storms since Dec. Its fucking cold too. If we have more winters like this I'm moving. I hate it.

We have had 8-14 inches, lots of ice, today major wind making snow ice. ugh

we have been lucky this year. not a single flake, but plenty of rain. our plants and trees are showing signs of spring! i was worried because last year we had months and months of snow and ice. not fun!

This past Saturday my area got 25 inches and with today's storm we must be at about 13 inches so far. It is supposed to continue until 12AM or so, and we are to get 24 inches.

Work was closed yesterday and I received word that we will be closed again tomorrow.

I would much rather be working than have to use 2 days of vacation time and spend all day shoveling!

Last year we had a total of 149.4 inches.
I'm not gonna complain about the measly 12-18 inches total this year.:bringcoffee::threadneedspics:

I have the rains mainly on the plain, and that causes the houses to wash down the drain. Mudslides are causing evacuations an hour north of me.

My girl says 7 to 10 inches is just right.. :kissy:...Ahhhh..and about the snow..

I grew up in SW Penna, and I left the snow for Fantasyland, and the sunshine of the Pacific..

We are in a State of Emergency. No vehicles are allowed on the road except State Vehicles and Emergency Vehicles. Everything is closed down. We can't even get out of our community yet. Right now 172 vehicles are stuck in the snow along the interstate, and they all called for help. I have no idea of how long it is going to take to get out of this mess. And where to put the snow when it is shoveled. The wind is something fierce. It is really strong. The next storm coming is expected sometime during this weekend. We are well over 6 feet of snow. I am sick of it.

The next thing I am fearing is the floods when the snow melts.

Okay, I shoveled out the bus and my car. I thought there was only 6 to 10 inches, but it was a lot more like 16 to 20 when I got out there! The sun was a big help and it only took me two hours to get it all done, I am feeling pretty good about the whole thing. Only one neighbor teased me about shoveling in a dress.......a girl's got to do what a girl's got to do!

I live in Southern California.

By Monday it will be near 80 degrees in the valley, probably mid-seventies here. I wouldn't trade places with any of you for all the tea in China. (one of my Mom's favorite expressions)

Got close to 3 feet...unfortunately my house is in a perfect place for the drifts, so I got some that are 4-5 feet up against the side of my house.

I know we are in for a long haul when my great dane gets snowbound in the yard. :)

Last year was crazzzzzy wild! All but one of my coworkers and I were snowed in at work over Christmas. I got to know them in ways that I'd really rather not know. :admin:

The funny thing? For the briefest of seconds, when I saw the title of this thread, I wondered at just HOW well it was that Sherrie knew Snowy.

Ok, I voted in the poll too soon! I said no snow and then yesterday we got 12.5 inches! I have never seen this much snow in Texas.

It was great until 2pm yesterday when my power went out. It is still out today and it looks like it is going to be some time this weekend before it's back on. It was 58 degrees inside my house when I left to come to work today.

I had to shovel my car out of the snow for the first time in my life! I had to come into work so that I can recharge my cell phone and camping lantern.

It really is beautiful, but I would be very happy to have electricity again soon.

I think we got another 20-22 inches on top of the already 20 inches we got last week.

Yeah, I am done shoveling for the year, thankyouverymuch.

(Although, I will admit the scenery is breath-taking).

1-3 inches a sad disapointment, no matter what you do with it
4- 6 inches respectable, servicable, no need to be embarassed
7 - 10 Wow, now we are talking!! This is enough to keep you going!
11 - 13 More than enough, but still a good time to be had!
14 - 18 Breathtaking.........not always in that good kind of way
19 - 24 Too much! This is now more like work than a good time
25 - 30 You've got to be kiddiing me!!!! What a painful experiance this is!

OK, OK, there is snow in Alabama (although not the totally delectable Snowy herself, just to clarify ;) )
I almost missed it (again) though. I was north of the expected snow line. But I didn't pack an overnight bag and didn't want to pick up the cost of a hotel after covering an event for work, so I drove home. I felt sorry for my poor mom, who was petrified I'd hit some black ice and go spinning. However, I made it the two hours home with no problem. And there was actually a nice little coating of snow (about 2.5 inches, I'd say, maybe 3). The puppies totally loved it, which shocked me. I can't get my little girl out in the rain or if it's cold, yet she kept going to the door to run around in the fluffy stuff. It was cute as hell.

:hiding:

The snowstorms have affected me though.

My flight to the east coast to meet my girl :3femme:in Orlando, and then to meet her parents for the first time :dog: was canceled.

Delta sent me an "I'm sorry", but we have rerouted you from John Wayne in Orange County -(5 minutes from my house) SUNDAY night at 10 pm (from So Cal ) to Salt Lake, then to Minn. MN, then to Orlando.arriving Monday morning...13 hours later...

Next best flight available--> from Los Angeles LAX ( an hour + away) direct to Orlando. 5 hours , tonight at 10:00 PM..so, I will be a day late, but arrive on Valentine's Day.

NO cold from the SNOW, just a girl who doesn't handle change well, and cried.. I guess that is what they do :harley:

Over night we got 11 inches of very wet, heavy snow. (and a bunch of thundersnow! woohoo!) Trees down, some areas the power lines came down under the weight.

In my backyard, there are several cedar trees 20-25 feet tall and about 15 inches round. There are 6 I can see from the window that I'll have to take down. And depending on how many branches on others have cracked off, probably more. The silver lining? A friend of mine makes cedar log furniture as a part time job. He'll have material for a new project.
