From this day forward, anyone posting *ANY* kind of racial epithets (veiled or otherwise) will receive an AUTOMATIC time-out.
We do not and will not tolerate racism on this site and members who are not willing to examine their racism will be given swift moderation, time-outs, or bans.
We never dreamed that we would have to spell this out in our TOS but it has become clear to us that we have members here who think nothing of using racist terminology. That's fucked up, no matter how you slice it.

Can't we just video tape them in that one collar instead?

It's sad... That in this time and age, nothing has changed.
Yes we are allowed to speak our mind, freely as they "Quote".
But it is those who use this opportunity to insult and demeanor others.
That ruins the who meaning of freedom of speech.
It is good... That this site has upped the status quo of setting rules.
For now is the time to say what you feel, but be considerate of others while you say it.
If you don't have nothing nice to say, then say nothing at all, is what my Mother use
to say to all of us.
Generally saying, you can say what you feel, but keep the negative, insults and racial comments to yourself.
Thank you Administration for grasping the bull by the horns and putting the time out in place, even to the effect of dismissal.
It boggles my mind to think this shit goes on. Just to be clear, what all applies here? Slurs? Innuating remarks? And does it/should it apply toward racial topics in which some might show their support?
My question is, how do you police racism if not all the way? Just a question, that's all.

The admins are cooking dinner for their out of town guest. Be patient, I'm sure they'll come in and answer this.
Although, you know, it's really hard to prepare a list because, quite frankly, it's just flabbergasting the things SOME people think it's okay to say on a public forum.

I understand, thanks. I wasn't really looking for quick answer, just thought I'd ask about banning topics that start this kind of thing, that's all.

sounds good to me to have a space where you can't just throw around your *hate*, protected under some twisted definition of "free speech".
lately it has seemed that it's *racists* that i hear belaboring their freedom of speech, as if their "right to promote white supremacy" is being stolen right out from under their sheet. (i only wish!)
again, "free speech" does not equal a "welcome sign" for you to promote white supremacy.
so, count me as glad for the zero-tolerance policy when it comes to racism.

Slurs, insinuations, slang not owned by the person posting (i.e. White people throwing around the "N" word), etc. are ALL covered under the "we don't want it here" banner.
Anyone who needs clarification on what constitutes a racial epithet:
You can read the definition of "epithet" in any dictionary. My own definition includes using terminology that is based on prejudices, ignorance, generalizations, or flat-out stereotypes of other races.
I am not even going to merit the stance of "I didn't know it was racist" if you say something using terms that are OBVIOUSLY racist. Even alluding to it is not ok.
Even using a term in an offensive way and putting asterisks behind it doesnt take the sting out of it and will get you a time-out.
The bottom line here is that some of us need some SERIOUS education on racism and anti-oppression. Some of us need some SERIOUS self-examination of white privilege. You have to be willing to do the work. Quite honestly, I wish I could force every single person on this site to participate in the discussions on race, the Confederate flag, and white privilege. Participating is the first step. Sometimes its scary, but its always worth it.
The other bottom line on this site is that NOBODY HERE GETS TO BE LAZY ABOUT RACISM. I cant make anyone do the work but I'll be damned if any of this bandwidth is going to support hate speech.
Thanks.
