As long as I can raise $2300!
I have taken on an incredible challenge. On October 1-3, I'll be walking 60 miles over the course of three days, camping out at night with thousands of other women and men taking this journey with me. I started a team, and my and my fellow walker are calling ourselves the Queer Cleavage Crusaders!!!
It's for an event called the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure. Net proceeds from the Komen 3-Day for the Cure are invested in breast cancer research and community programs. Komen for the Cure® works hard to build a future without breast cancer, and I plan on raising at least $2300 to help bring us closer to that goal.
My walk is dedicated to three amazing women who have touched my life and so many other people's lives in their own way. I am walking for them and everyone else who is touched by this disease.
One in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. That's why I'm walking in the 3-Day for the Cure. Because everyone deserves a lifetime.
Just follow the link below to visit my personal fundraising Web page and make a donation. If you don't want to donate online, please download and print a donation form from my Web page and mail it to the address on the form. Or you can call 800-996-3DAY to donate over the phone.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post and thank you for your support. I will post my progress so everyone can see how my training and fundraising efforts have been going!

I've seen the commercials for this fund-and-spirit-raising event for a while now and I've thought about how I could either do it or support it. Thank you for doing this and you've got my support!

I'm with you all the way. One of my good friends here has had 2 bouts with breast cancer and recently another bout with uterine cancer. I've been on this journey with her for years. She didn't have any medical insurance when the breast cancer came back the second time. It was hell trying to find her help. I've called the Susan G hotline more than one time looking for resources. I hope you reach your goal and then some. Thank you for caring.

Absolutely doing the 3-Day! My late partner, a cousin, my grandmother, my Mom and several friends have either died from, or are existing survivors of breast cancer.

Thank you for all you do as well. If you would like to send me her information, I can add her to my page in honor of those I am walking for. And during the walk, I am going to special buttons for everyone I am walking for...

That's so awesome that you're working up to all of that walking.
Are they preparing meals for y'all when you get to the stops along the way, or do you have to carry all of your stuff with you?

Hey Dylan! Yeah they are providing snacks and meals for us and they set up practically a whole city for us to camp in at night for the three days. There's all sorts of different activities, including free massages, musical entertainment, showers, and a tent of remembrance. Its really cool! We are encouraged to pack snacks that we like for along the route too though...

Hey everyone! So I'm still around, and I'm still doing the walk! I did a six mile training walk last weekend and it just about killed my feet! I realized that I needed to upgrade my shoes, so that is being done tomorrow. Then I will be doing some sort of walking everyday! I have raised $390, but am a LONG way from my goal, so any donations are greatly appreciated! Spread the word to your friends as well. And feel free to add me on facebook and repost my link on your wall! Thanks to everyone for your support!

Awesome! I have two friends who will be doing the walk as well. One of them is the salon owner where I rent...she will only be finished with her chemo/radiation in mid-September and still plans to do the 60 miles in October. Her spirit and attitude has been amazing :)

From the 3 Day website:
There’s nothing like a letter from a loved one to inspire you to keep going. Your friends, family and supporters can write a letter to you, which we’ll deliver to you on the event at the 3-Day for the Cure Camp Post Office.
Send letters to:
3-Day for the Cure PO
ATTN: SARAH GONZALEZ
P.O. Box 20027
Piedmont, CA 94620
Envelopes only, please. No boxes or large packages. Mail must be postmarked no later than September 21 in order to ensure delivery at the 3-Day for the Cure Camp Post Office. This address is not the actual location of camp, but a PO Box for mail delivery only. Any mail that is not retrieved by the participant by October 17 will be destroyed.
Of course I have to make to the walk, and I can only get there with your generous donations! Thank you to everyone that has donated so far, your support really means a lot to me! Remember every little bit helps, and you can even spread your donation up into three monthly payments! Also, keep your eye out for news on an exciting Bay Area event coming up to raise money for the walk brought to you by Boricua Productions!
Thanks for your support!

Well training has been going OK. With school starting and starting a business, I've been sorta busy, but am still committed to doing this walk. We are down to about 4 weeks left, so if ever there was a time to donate, this would be it. I'm still about $1900 away from the minimum, so tell all your friends. Any amount will help! I was supposed to be having an event, but the promoter flaked on me and the DJ didn't work out, so that fell through. I was really disappointed because I was counting on that. Hopefully I can still raise enough to participate through the generous donations of my BFP community and other communities.
Thanks for your support!
