Do any of you like Madeleine Peyroux?
I learned about her years ago and not from any one of my friends locally, but rather from a friend overseas in Berlin. Here's a few of her songs that I like: Half The Perfect World (the song my friend introduced me to) Mostly though, her voice is exquisitely beautiful and has an ethereal quality which feels transformitive (to me): Like in this song (To Love You, All Over Again) from her "Bare Bones" album. She's got a new album of music out, but I've yet to hear her new songs. I guess I should plan to spend an afternoon at a music store and listen to her album (The Blue Room) -- but, I found it on SoundCloud (see link below). https://soundcloud.com/madeleinepeyr.../the-blue-room eta: special thanks to other members in the community for leaving selections of beautiful music to hear. Thank You! :bouquet: |

Piano Guys....
I love all music but music without lyrics seems so much more powerful to me than being spoon fed the words...... Katniss~~ |
This one makes me want to hop in a convertible and drive fast......

A great way to start a Sunday.....

I love this thread!!!

Oopps...meant to post this with my comment. Katniss~~ |
@ Katniss: Me too :) It's largely why I thought it would be a good thing to create this music forum thread for stringed music on stringed instruments of all types. Stringed instruments range from Piano, Harp, Ukelele, Mandolin, Banjo, Cello, Viola, stand up Bass, Violin's to Guitar's of all kinds to lesser known types of stringed instruments: such as the Kora, Zarb or Voix (Ballake Sissoko & friends). Symphonies, Chamber orchestras, Philharmonic's (music that transforms my everyday world) :stillheart: |
Riff--raff....
Not a song and not normally what I post but it is fun to see how many you can guess without looking at the titles....I was only good for about 30. Katniss~~ |

Daydreamer (Adele)
*Lyrics* Daydreamer Sitting on the sea Soaking up the sun He is a real lover Of making up the past And feeling up his girl Like he's never felt her figure before A jaw dropper Looks good when he walks Is the subject of their talk He would be hard to chase But good to catch And he could change the world With his hands behind his back oh... You can find him sittin' on your doorstep Waiting for a surprise And he will feel like he's been there for hours And you can tell that he'll be there for life Daydreamer With eyes that make you melt He lends his coat for shelter Plus he's there for you When he shouldn't be But he stays all the same Waits for you Then sees you through There's no way I Could describe him What I'll say is Just what I'm hoping for But I will find him sittin' on my doorstep Waiting for a surprise And he will feel like he's been there for hours And I can tell that he'll be there for life And I can tell that he'll be there for life |

From Empire of the sun ...movie
Suo Gân (Welsh pronunciation: [sɨɔ ɡɑːn]) is a traditional Welsh lullaby written by an anonymous composer. It was first recorded in print around 1800.[1] The lyrics were notably captured by the Welsh folklorist Robert Bryan (1858–1920).[2] Huna blentyn ar fy mynwes Clyd a chynnes ydyw hon; Breichiau mam sy'n dynn amdanat, Cariad mam sy dan fy mron; Ni chaiff dim amharu'th gyntun, Ni wna undyn â thi gam; Huna'n dawel, annwyl blentyn, Huna'n fwyn ar fron dy fam. Huna'n dawel, heno, huna, Huna'n fwyn, y tlws ei lun; Pam yr wyt yn awr yn gwenu, Gwenu'n dirion yn dy hun? Ai angylion fry sy'n gwenu, Arnat ti yn gwenu'n llon, Tithau'n gwenu'n ôl dan huno, Huno'n dawel ar fy mron? Paid ag ofni, dim ond deilen Gura, gura ar y ddôr; Paid ag ofni, ton fach unig Sua, sua ar lan y môr; Huna blentyn, nid oes yma Ddim i roddi iti fraw; Gwena'n dawel yn fy mynwes Ar yr engyl gwynion draw. Sleep child on my bosom Cozy and warm is this; Mother's arms are tight around you, Mother's love is under my breast; Nothing may affect your napping, No man will cross you; Sleep quietly, dear child, Sleep sweetly on your mother's breast. Sleep quietly, tonight, sleep; Sleep sweetly, the pretty of his picture; Why are you now smiling, Smiling softly in your sleep? Are angels above smiling, On you smiling joyfully, You smiling back in sleeping, Sleeping quietly on my breast? Do not fear, nothing but a leaf Knocks, knocks on the door; Do not fear, a small lonely wave Murmurs, murmurs on the seashore; Sleep child, there's nothing here Nothing to give you a fright; Smile quietly in my bosom, On the angels white yonder. |

Also Sprach Zarathustra (Originally composed by Richard Strauss, arranged and adapted by Eumir Deodato) Personnel on the album: Eumir Deodato - piano, electric piano Ron Carter - electric bass (solo on "Baubles, Bangles and Beads"), bass Stanley Clarke - electric bass (solo on "Also Sprach Zarathustra") Billy Cobham - drums John Tropea - electric guitar (solo on "Also Sprach Zarathustra", "Baubles, Bangles and Beads", "September 13") Jay Berliner - guitar (solo on "Spirit of Summer") Airto Moreira - percussion Ray Barretto - congas Hubert Laws - flute (solo on "Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun") ~>>> Plus (+) *Strings* & *Horns* Thus Spoke Zarathustra: A Book for All and None (German: Also sprach Zarathustra: Ein Buch für Alle und Keinen) is a philosophical novel by German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, composed in four parts between 1883 and 1885. Much of the work deals with ideas such as the "eternal recurrence of the same", the parable on the "death of God", and the "prophecy" of the Overman, which were first introduced in The Gay Science. Described by Nietzsche himself as "the deepest ever written," the book is a dense and esoteric treatise on philosophy and morality, featuring as protagonist a fictionalized Zarathustra. A central irony of the text is that Nietzsche mimics the style of the Bible in order to present ideas which fundamentally oppose Christian and Jewish morality and tradition. |

Vivaldi Autumn Itzhak Perman CD recording
Movement 1: Allegro (Peasant Dance and Song) The peasant celebrates with song and dance the harvest safely gathered in. The cup of Bacchus flows freely, and many find their relief in deep slumber. Movement 2: Adagio molto (Sleeping after the harvest celebration) The singing and the dancing die away as cooling breezes fan the pleasant air, inviting all to sleep without a care. Movement 3: Allegro (The Hunt) The hunters emerge at dawn, ready for the chase, with horns and dogs and cries. Their quarry flees while they give chase. Terrified and wounded, the prey struggles on, but, harried, dies? Source for Vivaldi poem translations http://musicmotionblog.com/2010/09/a...-four-seasons/ |
