Ellen Degeneres defends her Usain Bolt tweet, some calling her a racist.
Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres defended herself on Tuesday after some claimed that a humorous Usain Bolt tweet sent out from her social media accounts a day earlier was racist. “I am highly aware of the racism that exists in our country,” @TheEllenShow tweeted. “It is the furthest thing from who I am.” DeGeneres’ popular Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts often feature funny images that have been altered to include her. On Monday, her accounts sent out a picture of her riding on Bolt’s back during Sunday’s 100 meter semifinal with the suggestion she’d like to use the Jamaican sprinter’s word-class speed to get her errands done faster. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ellen-d...185220311.html http://cdn.collegespun.com/wp-conten...PM-678x465.png *Ellen said it best, "It is the furthest thing from who I am." She and Usain are friends, he even retweeted the image. |
God destroys Tony Perkins' home
As we are repeatedly instructed, God uses hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, and lethal diseases to punish people for sinning. This week the Lord Almighty aimed his Holy Wrath at Louisiana, where among the thousands of people made homeless by flooding is hate group leader Tony Perkins, who reports that he had to escape his destroyed home by canoe. Perkins is on vacation this month, but today he called into his own radio show to lament the “biblical proportion” disaster that will allegedly force his family to live in a camper for the six months it will take to rebuild his home. Today’s guest host for Perkins’ show is former Family Research Council vice president Ken Klukowski, who now works for Breitbart. Listen below as they spin this natural disaster as an opportunity for Christians to rejoice that God considers them “worthy of suffering for his sake.” And to “use this as an incredible, encouraging spiritual exercise to take you to the next level in your walk with an almighty and gracious God who does all things well.” Including destroying the fuck out of thousands of houses. http://www.joemygod.com/2016/08/17/l...perkins-house/ http://video.metro.co.uk/pix/met/201...1504866336.jpg *I have no hope that he will recognize the irony or moderate his views. Somebody else's house = punishment from God, Tony Perkins' house = "worthy of suffering for his sake." |

15 ways to be a better person, according to the NYT
http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2...mn-region&_r=0 1. Wear comfortable underwear.. “I only wear granny panties,” said Julia Baylis, 22, part of a new generation of women saying no to the thong. Mayan Toledano, 27, added: “What’s sexy for us is being natural and comfortable.” http://tophealthnews.net/wp-content/...our-Health.jpg 2. Drink coffee. 3. Stare into the eyes of someone you love (or want to love) for exactly four minutes. Not two. Not three. Four. “Two minutes is just enough to be terrified,” said Mandy Len Catron, the author of a Modern Love column on the exercise. “Four really goes somewhere.” http://www.dailyhaha.com/_pics/staring-contest.jpg (rest at link with full explanations) |

Mercedes Maybach Vision 6 - 19 ft of electric luxury coupe!
http://cdn.carshowroom.com.au/media/...oder=freeimage There's something about a long hood that makes everyone go weak in the knees. All that space between the front wheels and the doors exudes raw power and massive wealth. It's been true from the earliest days of the automobile, when cylinder count was synonymous and commensurate with both horsepower and bank account. It's true today, even in an era of engine downsizing and forced induction. If the Mercedes-Maybach Vision 6 Concept is any indication, it'll be true in the era of electric vehicles, as well. That's right. Hiding beneath that flight deck of a hood is not a V-12 but a trunk with custom-fitted luggage. Beneath that is an 80 kW-hr battery mounted in the floor for better weight distribution and a low center of gravity. It drives four permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors, one connected to each wheel. Together they produce 738 horsepower. Before we discuss performance, it would give greater perspective to first address the elephant in the wheelbase. This car is huge. At 224.4 inches long, it's 18.7 feet of 1 percent chariot. That's 10 inches longer than the Mercedes-Maybach S600 and 5 inches short of a Rolls-Royce Phantom II, and those both have four doors. Remember when American cars were land yachts? The biggest of them all, the 1974 Cadillac Fleetwood 75 limousine, was just 2 feet longer (3 inches short of the modern Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman six-passenger limousine, as it happens). At 52.3 inches tall, it's only 2 inches taller than the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Long and low, baby. https://www.mercedes-benz.com/wp-con...or-640x357.jpg *Yowza! But it tops out at 155 mph, what fun is that? |
Stephen Hawking musing..
"British physicist Stephen Hawking’s dire warning: “I don’t think we will survive another 1,000 years without escaping beyond our fragile planet.” Hawking gave his first Australian speech at Sydney’s Opera House via hologram from his office at the University of Cambridge.
“I want to share my excitement and enthusiasm about this quest, so remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet,” Hawking continued. I think most leaders are doing neither. If they did look down at their feet, they might notice that we are poisoning and destroying the very environment that sustains all life. And the captains of trade and industry? Well they are really only interested in looking into the black holes of their deep pockets – from which nothing escapes (even light)." Bigger brains then mine take it for granted we won't survive another thousand years. Frankly, I don't believe we will be here in the next 200 years..and it wouldn't surprise me if we were gone by the end of this century. Why? Because we have saturated our soil, our air, and our bodies with poison. We are allowing chemical companies like Monsanto to modify and insert poison and chemicals into what we eat. GMO's are very scary but what we have done to animal husbandry is a tragedy. The suffering animals on this planet go through just to satisfy our greed is unconscionable. We make excuses not to do our part. Why? Why isn't every human on this planet protecting this planet and all the creatures that inhabit it? We are wonderous creatures, but we are so foolish and when enough of us finally wake up and decide we had better do something. It will be too late. One by one we will begin to die, like the bees, the elephants, the lions, a sweet little flamingo. Because we do not believe in the value of life. We fail to understand, all life is precious, all of it. |
Maybe I'll order one of these shirts when I'm more a'wake.'
