Went out to the beach yesterday to view the eclipse which was a bust here.

On the drive over the sands, I tried, again, to have a frank discussion with my guests, who came with surf boards and other ocean toys. No amount of brutal honesty about how plentiful seals attract plentiful great white sharks and neither requires much water to navigate was sinking in.

About 15 minutes after we unpacked the truck and settled into our space, this attack occurred. No humans were injured but the seal didnt fair as well. Needless to say, no one ventured into the water for the rest of the day.

Please heed the posts warning about sharks in any area. And be mindful that they do not need much water to navigate.



Please do not watch if you do not appreciate the brutal reality and beauty of nature.

​For anyone who bought eclipse glasses, there is a org called Astronomers Without Borders that could use them. According to their website, they are collecting glasses to send to schools in South America and Asia when eclipses cross those continents in 2019.
