I don't do all of the grocery shopping thank GOD, but I have a mantra while shopping "If I don't buy it I can't eat it",
My weakness is in the grocery store, I have to avoid the *carb* aisle (and they all have one) and stick to the list, I am so weak! |

I took 3 weeks off from diligent tracking to see how I would do with food and exercise on my own. Conclusion: I do better with diligent tracking!! :)
I did manage, at some point, to get 2 pounds closer to my first goal weight. However, I started this morning with fresh measurements and weighing; and I see I'm back to where I was before my 3-week "break". No real gains during that period overall, so that's not too bad. I went ahead and changed my goal weight in the system from 170 to 167. I figure if I'm going to re-start then I might as well shoot for the weight I *really* want. I am 7.6 pounds from my goal. I had been keeping track of my belly measurement through this whole experience, and that number has remained pretty steady......3.75 inches lost. This morning I added in my chest measurement and will track that as well. So... *ding* *ding* Round 2!!! |

Congratulations Thinker! Round 2 it is! I honestly think starting a Round 2 or Phase 2 (like Cowboi is doing) is a great idea! To me, it kinda gives me the idea that it's a clean slate. Round 1 is over, time to start fresh & come out swinging! THANK YOU for reminding us that we need to regroup & set new goals for ourselves! |
Drum roll please...
As I've said before, part of my changing my eating habits was with the goal of losing weight (which would be nice), but the primary reason was to improve my health.
As a diabetic, I worry about the complications of diabetes....losing my eyesight, my feet, organ failure...all that fun stuff. Well....after not exactly sure of how many months of my new style of eating, I got lab results at my doctor visit this morning. My A1c...the critical number for diabetics...is 5.9 This is my best reading ever....as in ever since my diagnosis! I have been stuck at 6.6, which is safe but not wonderful, for YEARS...and only by virtue of lots of medications. Also good news....my triglycerides have dropped to 126. And my HDL (the good cholesterol number) is a whopping 72.....LDL (bad stuff) 115. My doctor is very pleased...and these new better numbers mean I can go off the Actos I've been on for years (and which the FDA just issued warnings about and pulled) without going onto a new replacement medication. She is willing to slightly increase my metformin dose and leave it at that....no new drug, and I'm off the Actos (which they found increases the risk of bladder cancer). All of this by eating more veggies, more healthy fats, and fewer carbs....cutting out fast food, processed stuff, and the artificial sweeteners. I'm beyond thrilled....and couldn't care less what the scale says tomorrow. 5.9 DANG! :cheesy: |
I decided to ditch WW after I lost my motivation with the new program and gained weight back (2 months off WW) but I decided to come back to WW again. I was counting calories for a while, but my weight just is staying the same... no gains and no loses. I really want to get back to where I was before last November when I was at my lowest weight. It is only 15 lbs from where I am now, so totally attainable, but I am STUCK. I am hoping weight watchers will give me the drive I had before to get where I need to be!!
happy tracking everyone! :-) Starry |
Woooooohooooooooooo JO Congratulations... that's what I'm talking about! Those are some GREAT numbers! Yes, losing weight is on the plus size of this journey, but become healthy is the number 1 priority!

Due to tide changeovers my walk last night ran through sunset until after dark and then started this morning in the dark and ran through sunrise into mid-morning.
Each of these was a 10 mile sand-walk. I just figured out why I'm so darned tired today. :| Quote:
Well, I am having the same issue as Sylvie on the back of my arms-triceps area; the fat is gone now but the skin remains. So, I checked it out, and yep there is a one-fifty dips challenge. :cheesy: There's an app for that. :| It can't hurt to try! Who do I think I'm kidding.. :balloon: |

So proud of you, Wow, I have HDL envy:) Awesome Job! |
Oh good, I found the right thread! I need to lose weight! Have been going to a "herbalist" (that's what I'll call her - have no idea where her title really is) and she gave me some natural supplements (because vitamins and I don't get along)! For awhile I was losing weight (I'm down a pant's size...pant, pant), but it doesn't seem like it's coming off too quickly! I can't figure out the WW diet, and I have low blood sugar, so carb diets make me crash.......any suggestions?

Good afternoon...I am now officially paralyzed and taking a day off from the gym today. On top of the muscle soreness mother nature came to call and to show Me who's boss.
Anyone have any suggestions for getting through the muscle soreness so tomorrow I can back on the horse? I hope everyone is doing well. |
I've been working through severe calf and hamstring tightness this week after trying new machines at the gym.
I doubled on magnesium, took a day off, saw the lomi lomi (Hawaiian massage) magician in the neighborhood for a free session (very sweet of him) and then had a long sleep. All these things help. People stop going to gym when it hurt or isn't fun anymore. Try to keep it fun, and give your body rest. |
Yeaster day I went to my doc for a prob ive been havein,he gave me some antibiotics for the next 5 days that the druggest said would make me dizzy...I took one and after 6 hrs I was fine so went off to play my useal Friday night 9 ball team game...6 hrs and 15 minits later I wasnt shure where I was,I did make it to the pool hall but felt like my arms were like over cooked noodles.I felt like I had two shots of JD straight up,I did play and win my game but refused to drive home so a couple of my buddies took me home ...one drove the car and me home her hubby followed in there car.Thank the godess im only on these thing for a fue days..long term isnt in the picture. If that wasnt bad enough I have to really eat a meal before I take the darn pills..grrrrr,doin my best to stay within my food plan while dong this...yes I can:praying:
