Sign up for new project in progress!

Newbies welcome (as long as you can commit to follow-through on the project) !

THE RISK PROJECT

My idea is for us all to go outside our comfort zone and try a new form of art or creative technique or something each of us personally don't usually do. The idea is to not worry about whether it comes out "good" or not and to just do something that feels risky for you and be okay with sending out the results. Success will be evaluated by oneself based on whether you let yourself get out of what you are used to, not whether the finished project is something you'd consider your best. To the contrary, sending out "imperfect" first results as one's final projects are encouraged.

Cut off date- let's see if we can get our sign ups by end of this weekend.

Due date: June 15th (My correct address starts with 309. If you don't have that, PM me for it.)

Crafty Question

I am converting my seldom used spice rack into a craft rack. It looks like the spice rack found at this link. I don't mind losing this spice rack because it was given to me many years ago and the jars are not air tight, which means if I put any spices in them, they will go bad or worse: Attract bugs. Yuck!

My quandary is this: Currently, the lids have all been labeled in silver paint with which spice is supposed to be in which jar. I can't figure out how to get the silver paint off. Simply marking over the words with a black permanent marker is a viable option, but you can still see the words somewhat.

Ideas?

Please help me crafty friends!!! :)

Crylon rustolium spray paint. Covers anything, then get some silver paint and re paint them.

I just thought of maybe hot gluing one of the items in the jar onto the lid. Of course, if I ever change what is in the container, it might get a little annoying...

Diva 05-14-2011 09:58 PM

Do You have a label~maker thingy? Those things are AMAZING!!!

No, but my office does. Hmm...Maybe I can borrow it. I will have to see if it will stick to the plastic lids...

Thanks!

That is true, but I actually LOVE this idea. I can just see a tiny button here or a little piece of ribbon there. You could make your converted craft rack into a crafty venture all its own.

Since I don't have the time, money, or space to spray paint, I have blackened all the lettering with permanent marker and attached one of each item to its corresponding jar using double-sided tape. Works for now. :)
