Good Morning Kelt,

Your first part of the post just made me laugh...No, they aren't going to wire my mouth shut, but I have heard for the first week after they *apply* them, you cannot eat nothing solid. I am going to slowly add solid food but for the first two weeks, I will more than likely be eating soft foods. From what I have heard from my coworkers, it can take up to a year or longer. I am shooting for a year and hoping that it doesn't take two years, like it did for one of my coworkers. This isn't my idea and I am wishing that I didn't have to get them; but thanks to genetics, I have to...My dentist was telling me, that since I don't smoke, drink soda or anything else, that my teeth are very healthy and it shouldn't take long for them to heal once this happens...I have a very good pain tolerance and I will be taking Aleve to help with the soreness...

My roommate is excited about me not drinking coffee anymore, he will have the whole bag of coffee to himself...

Have a good day,

Zimmeh

I get that sugar will be out, insidious stuff, but all solid food? How about some decent stews or soups. Maybe some slow cooker stuff.

Knowing nothing about braces, I'm wondering how long this is going to take.

Zimmeh....

I have a few friends that have braces, and they didn't have ANY problems at all eating solid foods. I guess each person is different... but we will hope you are one of the lucky ones that doesn't have to suffer with liquid/soft food diet!

Zimmeh 11-02-2011 09:09 AM

Thank you for the information and I am hoping this to!

How are you doing today?

All is well here with me.... just getting back in the full swing of tracking food and getting in some exercise. My body is still feeling a lil' sluggish right now, but it's because I ran out of multivitamins a week or so ago. But, it's on my shopping list for the day!

Zimmeh 11-02-2011 09:17 AM

Glad to hear that you are doing good! I say, we should have some kind of exercise time in LR next year..This way, we all can hit the gym at once and be happy...If not, I will find some way of passing along the jokes so we all can laugh until our sides hurt..Maybe another birthday cake?

Hopefully we can plan a lil' exercise routine... even if it's just 30 minutes in the morning. I know that every second of the reunion is full of events... so maybe we can figure something out.

**don't make me give up any beauty rest though ;) *

starryeyes 11-02-2011 09:32 AM

I gained a pound! Its my TOM, so that could be why, but I also have not been on track. UGH, why can't I just do this again like I used to... I was losing 2-3 lbs a week without fail for months.... grrr. I need to look deep inside and figure out what the dillyo is.

This week I am going to track everything... and go to the gym at least 3x this week. I also want to go back to how I used to be.. only eating natural foods... nothing processed. We will see how that goes.

((hugs to all))

Maybe we can walk to the restaurant, if it close enough, instead of taking the trolley?

Sleep is something that we both will be need..I still cannot believe that I only slept for less than 15 hours the whole weekend..

Doing exactly what you just outlined should do the trick!

Don't stress Starry. Our bodies like to trick us from time to time (yeah, especially during your TOM). You've got some good ideas of what to try next!

Good luck honey and I bet you see you a loss next week!

foxyshaman 11-02-2011 10:16 AM

I can track my TOM by the changes in my weight that week, I can be either 1 to 1.5 lb weight gain or plateau... :readfineprint:

I did not have a sucessful eating weekend, I drank...too much. And I ate some junk food. AND I did not go to the gym last night. I had company and cooked dinner for said company. However, I made them individual chicken pot pies and a vegan dish with Polenta (not much polenta cause that stuff is high points) for me. And I was laughing to myself as I was making my salad and put a wee bit of walnuts on it...Hey wait this is a treat for Kelt!!! <dorky grin here>

But... today is a new day. I am going to weight lifting class and then gay yoga. I missed doing my interval training last night, but the pleasure of my friend's company was worth it.

Starryeyes it really is just one day at a time. It really is each moment by moment. I can tell you not to beat yourself up, but I can't stop you. I can tell you that you that each of us here have been there, and fought through it, and will probably face tough days again. And each one of us here, cheers you on.

I totally agree with you!

i've decided *finally* to give the 100 pushup challenge a try, it's a 6 week program - and feel pretty ready! i also want to give the 200 situp challenge a go as well..

Has anyone tried these and been successful? Just curious..
i seen them posted on another thread some time ago, and wanted to try then but wasn't in the right headspace to commit just yet, with all my food issues going on..

comments? advice? anything appreciated! ♥

Im eating lunch cause I have to,but today has been a hard one,my fur kid Diva had a epaliptic sesure this morning..a bad one,we went to the vet and got meds but once we got home she went into cluster sesures.Shs is now back at the vets being treated,my other fur kid Rowdy is missing her bad..me to.Before I left the vets he ask if she could have gotten into any poison,I havent put anything out and wouldnt put anything out that would hurt my pups. That statement left me wondering cause the security system went off at 5am starting at the back patio all the way to the carport the only thing we found was the water hose was running water down the drive.Rowdy would love to go out an play but not till the yard is fully checked...I doubt I will find anything but im being careful.

I hope everything turned out ok for you yesterday. Look for antifreeze laid out for your pups to get in to. It sounds like you had an intruder.

Good morning & and happy Thursday healthy peeps!

Well, I learned a hard lesson yesterday. My boss, while trying to nice, brought me back lunch. I opened it up... chicken fried steak & mashed potatos all smothered in cream gravy. Oh my... how could I let this southern comfort food go to waste?! I should have given it to someone else, but instead decided to eat it. WRONG idea. Because I had pretty much cut out fried foods from my diet, by the time my food digested I was already sick at my stomach. My body hated me for eating that food... and my 3:00pm I threw my guts up.

I left work early and went home to lay down. My stomach in PAIN because of food that I ate. Needless to say, my body rejected the fried food that I had been living off of for so many years... and gave me a big reality check that it doesn't want it anymore!

This morning for breakfast, I had lowfat vanilla yogurt with strawberry slices & granola and coffee. Lunch/dinner will be Subway since I have to work the 2nd job tonight. For snacks, I have gala apples, string cheese & 100 calorie almond packs.

Anyway, I hope that everyone is doing well and staying strong & moving forward on their journeys!

Well that stomach bug threw me off kilter and I had to eat whatever I could get to cooperate which included lots of crackers and toast. Back on track now but damn that was quite a setback.

I have to admit I don't want to.

Zimmeh 11-03-2011 09:01 AM

Hope you are feeling better today! Since everyone at work has been getting sick in the employee cafeteria, I have been ordering from one of the restaurants. I notice that when I eat the French fries, I have heartburn within a half an hour. Hugs to you and get to feeling better!

I am sorry you got sick. :blah: I had a CHALLENGE yesterday. I wanted fat and carbs and wanted it sooooooooo bad. The exact thing you experienced PinkieLee is exactly what I KNEW my body would go through. I did not succumb, not for lack of my shadow "want to eat what I want" trying, but because my body just cannot tolerate it anymore ( and I have worked too freaking hard). I stayed in my office and drank water, my body at least likes that :cheesy:

I hope you have a better day. :cheerleader:

I am going to try to stay out of trouble today :cracked:.

I went for a checkup last week. I hate to say it but I hadn’t been to the doctor in over 2 years. What really makes that bad is that he was prescribing me meds for hypertension and when I ran out I just didn’t take anything for my high blood pressure. I did my weigh in, had my things listened to and left 4 vials of blood. I also left withOUT a script for hypertension. Yep, that right…no BP meds. I dropped 32 lbs since my last visit which I’m guessing had something to do with the lower BP. I’m still on the borderline of high but he didn’t want to prescribe anything just yet. So I’ll be going back in a month to be rechecked. Oh and btw, my blood work came back with everything in the normal range. Time to get on the treadmill. This has been a great incentive.
