Yesterday I stopped by a Redbox and wanted to pick out something fluffy and mind-numbing since I don't feel well and my brain is mush right now.

What did I walk away with?

Unbroken.

It is absolutely phenomenal. Angelina Jolie did an excellent job of directing. Jack O'Connell did an amazing job as portraying Louie Zamperini. Miyavi did an outstanding job making me hate Watanabe, the main antagonist, with a fiery passion I didn't know I was capable of today. The fact that it's based on a true story just proves what we can do when we put our minds to it.

I'm feeling decidedly unaccomplished but proud as Hell of him. He experienced so much in his lifetime and survived many times over events that would have taken the will and life of others. Loved this movie.

Jack O'Connell was in the original cast of Skins, my BBC guilty pleasure of quite a while ago (think it is on Netflix for those of you that never saw it. The opening sequence is a hoot of a classic, btw).

Jack is also outstanding in the more recent Starred Up. Also either on Netflix or Amazon Prime now.

Not a movie but first episode of Skins. Love the intro with Tony (Nicholas Holt, he of the blue eyes).

Okay but did you like them?

I just picked up 50 to 1 from Redbox so don't spoil anything, but did you enjoy the movie?

I finally watched Gone Girl. Unbelievable. That woman was the epitome of a sociopathic crazy going to mess your life up woman. Loved the suspense. Of course you knew something was up when they focus on the husband all the time.

Also, watched The Book Thief based on the novel by Markus Zusak. If you have not read the book - you should (I did before I saw the movie). The movie lives up to the book - which is always a good thing.

Furious 7 (Vroom Vroom)
It was a fun movie that my inner 14 year old really dug

I saw 50 to 1. I love movies that

1. are about horses
2. are based on real life
3. end happily

It even had the cute guy from Leverage in it.

BUT

If you are looking for a movie that's got award winning acting, this isn't it.

BUT

It is cute and it does have an amazing reenactment of a once in a lifetime racing scene. Definitely worth the buck and change I paid to see it.

Yes I liked them all but 50 to 1, was my favorite out of all the ones I saw.

I saw two more movies this weekend. First up was The Voices. Going into it, I knew that it would likely nudge a few sore spots with me and it did a little, but not as much as I thought given the subject matter. It was not what I would call a 'good' movie but it was twisted and a bit dark and sometimes you need that.

I do like Ryan Reynolds, though, and really look forward to this movie next year.

The last movie I saw was 10 Rules for Sleeping Around. Eh. It was okay. There were some funny moments but I was kind of bored during parts of it.

Last night on Demand we caught Five Flights Up with Dianne Keaton, Morgan Freeman, and Cynthia Nixon. It's nice to see that someone in Hollywood every now and again takes a stab at movie making geared to us older folks. We enjoyed this movie very much! If you've dealt with an obnoxious realtor (or not) you'll get a few chuckles out of the role Cynthia Nixon plays:movieguy:
