Hanna - Terrific action packed movie. Very well done. Lost the storyline a few times tho. The Green Lantern - pretty boring for an action movie. Atlas, Shrugged - and so did I. The premise was good and pertinent to the current economic fiasco. But, it reminded me too much of a "Dallas" kind of storyline. Kept waiting for JR to show up. |

I have gone to houses to do clearings on more than one occassion and have watched kids have conversations with beings I could not see. Nothing as horrific as that movie, but still. Off topic, but gonna keep going anyway... had a neighbors with two sweet sweet little girls. One was particularly "open". I saw them outside one day and the little one, in her broken language, was sooooooo excited to tell me about the little people she saw. She had woken in the middle of the night to talk and play with them. The sounds woke her mother who went to check on her. There she was hands flying, giggling and having a very intense conversation with, what I think were the little people. It was one of the most adorable conversations I had ever had... K... back to your regular reading... sorry for the derail. |
If you watch a trailer five times, is that a good sign you want to see the movie?
"You are the fairest of all. But there is another destined to surpass you. Consume her heart, and you shall live forever." |
Country Strong ~ I found it surprisingly emotional, in a good way.

Currently watching Splendor in the Grass on TCM. I planned my whole day around being home in time for this.

"Pariah" - painful, beautiful, essential
"I am breaking. I'm broken open. Breaking is freeing. Broken is freedom. I am not broken. I am free." |
Watched Season of the Witch last night; it was lame. I wonder why for every one decent movie Nicholas Cage does there are at least three that flop.
|
Watched a couple of movies this weekend.
Breaking Dawn Pt 1 - And no I won't blame it on Gillian. In fact I drug HER there instead of vice versa. I can't help it. I love Alice (no not bella). The movies are still saturated with angst and hormones but hey - I'm in it til the end (yes I have read the books) Captain America - watched this on a whim last night. YAY! Very good movie! Can't wait for The Avengers (specially since Joss Whedon is at the helm) |
We saw J. Edgar last weekend. It is a great movie!
Last night we watched Elf, always fun! Glynn |
watched this lastnight again.. love this movie :)

I saw Inception today and I loved it! Just when I thought I had it figured out, they all woke up on the airplane! If you've not seen it, it's not going to matter what I put here, it won't make any sense anyway :seeingstars: Anyway, if you like a movie that you have to really pay attention to, this one is it!

Biutiful - Mexican film with Javier Bardem (love him!)...he is a black marketer of Chinese laborers who learns he has terminal cancer...he begins to attempt to make amends for all his past wrongdoings and secure stability for his two young children...was a good movie.
Leap Year - Mexican film...a lonely, youngish woman pretends to have many that love her but in reality does not...she goes out every night and picks up random men...sleeps with them...they leave. She meets one who continues to come back to her and he introduces her to BDSM. Their trysts elevate to the point she feels she can only be satisfied...and can only satisfy him as well as show her affection...if he is to kill her as they are having sex. Interesting movie to be certain. What can I say? I like foreign films! |
Law Abiding Citizen - Loved It. Great screenplay and acting. I love well written movies that keep me guessing.
|
Winters Bone and Rabbit hole...highly recommend both.
|
J. Edgar.
It was ok. Wanted it to be better. |
I watched Murder in the First again today...I am not usually a Kevin Bacon fan, but he gives an excellent performance.

OK, feeling very philistine with all you guys watching real movies, but my most recent movie was Zombieland (truly awesome, if you have not had the pleasure, but probably will not make you a better person or make you think hard about your station in life)
http://tutimozi.com/wp-content/theme...40&zc=1&ft=jpg I am currently watching Baby Mama (another important cinematographic piece) I like it. Sue me. I love the relationship between the two women. http://i684.photobucket.com/albums/v.../baby-mama.jpg |
I second Zombieland!!!!
|
The Gymnast...not epic, but sweet.

Currently watching

Breaking Dawn
Absolute crap and I DID (sorta) enjoy the previous 3. |
It was okay. I did laugh a few times and the guy does remind me of Luke Perry.... |
a Bug's Life 2... loved it!
Iron Man... stuuuuupid movie! |
Band of Brothers It's an old miniseries and I am not much of a war movie fan but I watch this every year and always find something new in it. Good stuff. Good cast. |
Happy Feet...cuz when i'm not feeling well i love those kind of movies
|
Last movie was last night saw "Beneath the dark" It was okay, took forever to get to the point of the film but once it got to the plot it wasn't too bad.
|
Bagdad Cafe
Saw it again on Netflix last night. I love that movie!

Super 8
I just saw Super 8 and absolutely loved it!! It was written and directed by JJ Abrams (Directed Star Trek-the newer one with Chris Pine and Fringe on Fox-another favorite tv show of mine).
It is SciFi with a heart, PG-13, focused on a group of 11-12 year old boys, one girl (with guts and spunky) and how they're trying to make a movie to enter into a competition. It is set in the 1970's, hence using a Super 8 camera, instead of anything digital. While doing so, they stumble upon a real SciFi mystery. It has great special effects, is funny & charming. I did shed a few tears @ the end-heartwarming and all that:) Recommend it! |
Laura (1944)

Love the old films, feels like an old friend. Watching it today. |
A Letter to Brezhnev – I first saw this film in 1985 with my then girlfriend and my Maori Grandmother. It’s set in Liverpool and at first I found the accent hard to understand – I understand the accent a little better now, lol! It’s a kitchen sink drama/love story that, although has dated not very well, is still enjoyable, if you like that sort of thing.
How things have changed for Russia and the UK since this was made and how much I’ve changed over the years – my feelings are toward the characters are different now to what they were when I was 15. :D |
I saw Secretary with James Spader & Maggie Gyllenhaal on the telley the other day & loved it! I know it's older but I had never seen it. Here's the IMDb rundown on it - they give it a 7.1 rating, that's about what I would say. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0274812 It's a little quirky & off color but I totally loved it.
|
What can I say...it's been cold and/or snowing out..
So far this weekend I've watched...
Horrible Bosses - pretty funny The Green Lantern - surprisingly decent Something Borrowed - pretty good Crazy, Stupid, Love - better than I thought it was going to be Bereavement - just started watching it, so far..creepy and mildly disturbing.. I watched Water For Elephants earlier in the week - think I would have been less disappointed if I hadn't read the book first.. |
Hugo
Hugo by Martin Scorcse
Wonderful film about a orphaned boy who lives in a Paris train station. He is, through a complex series of events, befriended by the goddaughter of the famous film maker Georges Méliès. It is a wonderful film about grief and love and movies. The images are beautiful the acting is well done and the characters are interesting and developed. I loved it. I saw it in 2D as I generally don't like 3D, it is offered in 3D and according to Roger Ebert (who is my fellow poo pooer of 3D) it worked well. |
Raining weather yesterday allowed me to have a lazy day on the couch, alternating between watching movies & reading a book (started the Hunger Games series).
We watched: Crazy Stupid Love and Friends with Benefits |
I went with my kids to see Breaking Dawn. The weekend before I watched the first three movies... cause I have to admit I sooooo did not remember much about them.
That is the joy of fluff...in the hand one moment and blown out the next. So....yup Fluff... but I got to hang with my kids and take them to dinner after; and that was better than any movie... |
On a military kick this month. Fly Girls - a documentary on the WWII Women's Airforce Service Pilots (WASP). Led by accomplished aviatrix Jacqueline Cochran, more than a thousand women were involved in this civilian group which logged more than 60 million miles ferrying planes thru out the USA, test-piloting experimental aircraft, and training male pilots on new aircraft. Very interesting stuff. The Tillman Story - about the life of pro football player Pat Tillman and the events surrounding his death in the war in Afganistan. The actual footage of GW Bush administration members "testifying" in a "congressional inquiry" is guaranteed to piss any viewer off. |
We watched Smurfs and The Change Up today. Both were okay. Nothing to write home about but not horrible either.
The Change Up did have Olivia Wilde, which was a bonus. |
