There's a Harry Potter marathon on ABC Family. I'm watching Prisoner of Azkaban now while I clean and organize. :)

Unbroken

Olympian and war hero Louis Zamperini survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash in WWII, only to be caught by the Japanese Navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp.

Based on a true story.

----------------

Was interesting. I liked the follow up story of his trip to Japan after the war to meet with all but one of his captors.

I'm going to see this tomorrow!

I saw it! It was visually impactful. Very exciting and it gives us an idea of what a major catastrophe could look like in such a populated area. Absolutely stunning.

There were a couple of cheesy lines but all in all, it was very good. AND the whole theatre cracked up when one thing happened that would normally not create laughter but it was warranted. I won't spill the beans but I will say that moment was very satisfying.

Plus, I love the remake of California Dreaming. It's kind of creepy.

The Good Lie

"A group of Sudanese refugees given the chance to resettle in America, arrive in Kansas City, Missouri, where their encounter with an employment agency counselor forever changes all of their lives".

Stars: Reese Witherspoon, Arnold Oceng, Ger Duany

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2652092/

It was difficult to believe that the Lost Boys and Girls of the Sudan literally walked 1,000 miles to find some sort of safety, and for the most part, they were children.

Many of the actors were Sudanese.

It was really good and a tearjerker for most of the movie.

Gemme 06-04-2015 06:23 PM

I saw this tonight. It officially opens tomorrow but my theatre had a couple of evening showings tonight so I jumped at it. Good call!

I like Melissa McCarthy anyway but I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The lady behind me and to the right also seemed to enjoy it according to her snorts and cackles.

Jason Statham was funnier than I've seen him before. He still kicked a little bit of ass but was more funny than kickass. It was a nice change.

If you go see it, stay through the WHOLE thing, until all of the credits have run.

The Theory of Everything!

I really enjoyed this movie. Even if it did have romantic parts to it!

Has anyone seen this yet?

The Judge - Robert Duvall, Robert Downey Jr. - I enjoyed it, very emotional. A few cheesy spots, but well acted.

Hot Pursuit

It should have been better

Director: Amy Berg
Writers: Nicole Holofcener (screenplay), Laura Lippman (novel)

I watched this movie earlier today:

It was okay. It's a B class movie and the acting is not stellar. I did enjoy the revenge aspect of it though and it was interesting having a hearing impaired heroine. It was annoying, however, that people kept referring to her as mute and she wasn't.

I'm currently listening to the SpongeBob movie.

Since I didn't actually watch all of it, I can't say much but it was fun to have in the background.

The Best of Me "A pair of former high school sweethearts reunite after many years when they return to visit their small hometown." It has an unexpected ending..pretty good watch

Would You Rather "Desperate to help her ailing brother, a young woman unknowingly agrees to compete in a deadly game of "Would You Rather," hosted by a sadistic aristocrat." Wasn't a high end movie... and a tad F***ed up but not a bad watch

dykeumentary 06-07-2015 07:59 PM

I will only go to the theatre if the movie is directed or written by a woman.
Even in NYC that leaves slim pickings. *sigh*

The description kind of reminds me of this movie, which was well made but gritty and kinda effed up all kinds of ways.

I've been on the fence about Best of Me, so I appreciate the critique.
