1) I dont put tv or the radio on in the house just to have something on. I like to sit in my stillness. It helps keep me in the moment...

2) I am not a music fan. I could live without hearing music at all, in fact. Yet, I am constantly singing at work.

3) I sniff. Yes. Sniff Sniff. I tend to have sinus problems and allergies so I sniff. But they are delicate femme sniffs

4) I am MORTIFIED if someone tries to talk to me when I am in the bathroom..for any reason...

5) I HATE the scent of vanilla. It can actually make me gag and throw up if it is too strong or sudden..

5 (more) things

I have won 2 contests in my life...one was for the largest bubble blown (with gum) and the other was a bench pressing contest...

I am concerned that I am becoming an example of the phrase "the one who dies with the most fabric wins"...I am Mad for fabrics...and leathers...and, well, anything I can get a needle and thread through...

I have two new floor model industrial sewing machines (juki for those who care) and a regular home machine, and although I sew most every day, I send out all my dresses to be hemmed...I really can't stand that kind of sewing...the girl at the dry cleaners store laughs at me all the time...but, let's be honest--who actually Wants to hem a dress?...not I said the little red hen (wink icon)

I've been to culinary school...I've taught baking and basic cooking...for years and years I made all our bread...and cakes and cookies and pies...I'm able to can and preserve and pickle and do all that kind of stuff...I'm tired of doing it all...it's so much work...I will do it for gifts...and if I want to impress someone, but the problem with that is then they figure it's an all the time thing (insert rueful shrug icon)

I taught at standford university in the english department (many years ago) one of the students who didn't like me wrote a scathing review of the class...his last line was "what can you expect?...she's from new york and she's a Jew!!"...I think that weakened his argument...

Write14u 02-13-2010 12:12 AM

1. (Taking inspiration from Neen above) ... I have won two things in my life. I won a CD from a radio station. I also was the lucky caller at the local radio station of the town I had just moved to. It was a birthday contest. I won $100 for my birthday being in my month, but almost won $1000. The day they called out specifically was one day off my birthday. Funniest part was I was so new to the city, that I didn't know the station's call letters, which is pretty embarrasing when they're like, "Soooo, tell us who just made you a winner?" <crickets>
2. I still have my 12-inch Charlie Brown Christmas tree out.
3. I've gone swimming with dolphins (at a really cool place in Orlando that is man-made but totally doesn't feel like it in some places.)
4. Among the most famous athletes I have interviewed are Michael Jordan, Lance Armstrong, Rudy Reuttiger (of the move Rudy fame..as well as the quarterback he sacked) and Ken Carter (of Coach Carter movie fame). And a slew of others that serious sports nuts would know but casual fans would go, 'huh?'
5. My roommate says I'm the worst beer pong player ever, but that's just based on one outing and he's biased! LOL

Lynn 02-13-2010 08:37 AM

1. I'm both one of the most ambitious and laziest people I know, resulting in high mediocrity much of the time.

2. I have always been afraid of heights, but now it's ridiculous. High escalators freak me out, but I force myself to use them.

3. I won an art contest when I was six or seven. I still have the plaque somewhere. I also won several prizes at dances when I was a teenager. The DJ would walk around and award prizes to the best dancers. My best prize was a Moody Blues album, "Days of Future Past".

4. I would like to renovate my house (a 50's ranch) so it resembles an arts and crafts cottage.

5. We're getting ready to go away for the weekend. Going to Lake George for V-Day and Winter Carnival.

4. I have never used my oven.

5. My father was scouted by the White Sox when he was in high school (he was a pitcher). He told them he was not interested because he wanted to marry my mother, have kids, and not be traveling all the time. I only found this out recently, and this was from a relative (not my father).

Hack 02-13-2010 05:30 PM
