the postcard blanks I ordered did arrive this week...they are a tiny bit bigger than what I'd planned them for...good thing I am on a level in which I can use scissors unsupervised ! :)...I hope, this weekend, to be able to get some done and ready to send out...there is nothing in the way except myself, which is often my biggest barrier...so, I will see what I can do...

I am planning to attach laminated images to the post card blanks...I trust they will make it thought the mail...I was thinking I should send myself one to confirm they will make it before sending out a bunch and finding them to be lost in the vortex of the postal system...that makes sense--right?...I do know that they sell, and I assume successfully are sent, post cards which are laminated so it should be okay...

next weekend is the annual neighborhood wide yard/garage sale...I used to come over from the east bay for years to attend...I have since sold in it for a number of years....now a days I might venture out to look...I bring in vintage fabrics when I find them and love them...other than that, I have more collectables and treasures than I will ever need...I figure I will take a stroll next week just because, but will most likely come home empty handed, with will be my goal :)

this was less a post-card yap and more a stream of (un)consciousness yap I know...at my age, change is really hard and best not to be expected !!

wish me postcard creation luck...I did come up with something to write on each postcard, it was the same message and cracked me up, but now I worry that it's too Too so I am not gonna send it...it did make me laugh, but that isn't really an indicator that it would be well received...it wasn't dirty or anything like that---just might not have seemed as funny to someone who doesn't know me is all...

please...for the love of GdashD let me stop---Now!!

I do hope you are all well and the weekend, if this is your weekend, is kind

cheers

Nina

Good morning postcarders :coffee:

jelli my dear...next time they run wild just give me a call...holy cow! :) See what happens when I take an evening off and leave Scoote unsupervised? :|

Welcome Zimmy....so glad you're going us! And jelli, your list is in the mail...but I do have the whole thing on my computer in MS Word...so I can email an attachment to anyone who wants a copy of the updated list (no need to type it all up T...and no, I'm not using your new nickname  ) :giggle:

We are allegedly going to SeaWorld tomorrow...so there will be postcards there I'm sure...brace yourselves for incoming sea critters! :cheesy:

Zimmeh 08-06-2011 10:33 AM

Have fun at SeaWorld tomorrow! You guys should pop in and watch the duck show at the hotel. You can nominate Scoote for honorary duck master, hehe.

Can you email me the list?

Thank you!!!!

Zimmy

scootebaby 08-06-2011 01:58 PM

there is no allegedly going to Sea World we ARE going!-well unless the Prince changes his mind! I (well WE) are gonna take Rooster(and the rest of us) to Venice one weekend(soon i hope) to go shark teeth hunting on Casperan Beach--touted as shark teeth capital of something! so postcards from there as well.

anyway since my post really has nothing to do with postcards think ill go now!

and i like Ts new nickname and think EVERYONE should use it! :D

Nina 08-06-2011 02:13 PM

it would be helpful if someone will PM me the correct addresses for T 'n Sunshine...given that, for the time being at least, they/you are not at the same address, I can and will send two...

thanks in advance

ThunderBall is on TV...I have it on DVD, but I get bored so this way I can switch over to billy the exterminator...

just random things as usual...

I got done the ones I planned to get done...

I will now need a new sheet of post card stamps...I still have some left, but I like to plan for emergencies and earthquakes and who knows what else...

I did Not write what I'd planned to write on all of them...I did, in fact, put it on scootey's card and then thought better of it so I covered it over and wrote another message...

I guess that's it 'till I think of something else that I think is postcard related and which may, or may not be...

hope the weekend is smooth and kind to you all...

cheers

Nina

Good evening! I finally made it to the Post Office and got my stamps... Now to finish gathering postcards.

Nina, where did you order your postcard blanks from?

kim...

I got them on amazon, of course :)

Photo Postcard 4x6 Turn Your Photos Into Post Cards (15 Pack)
by Howard Packaging

they were $5.20 for the package...and I have the prime shipping thing so didn't have the add on of shipping....they seem fine and I just cut them to fit the cards I wanted to send...

I'm sure they would have them at local hobby or craft stores as well...

have fun!

cheers

Hey everyone....no SeaWorld today...evidently the Prince didn't want to wake up, and it's raining in Orlando...sorry! :(

In other news...I'll get on my "other" computer (that sits on the desk and I use during the week) tomorrow and get everyone updated on addresses and such. :)

WolfyOne 08-07-2011 11:36 AM

Angel T Bone, Innocent Mother Theresa, Porn Postcards and Loopy Scoot blaming the drugs

I miss all the good stuff when I work 2 shifts on a Saturday and Jo is gone while elsewhere postcard peeps are running amok

In other news, I have postage stamps for my postcards
I would also like an updated list and don't care how it's sent to me

That is all and thank you very much :)

Diva 08-07-2011 06:23 PM

I had fun this afternoon putting all my postcards in my postcard album! It's filling up fast.....already 1/3 full or so, then Y'all have upped THAT number significantly! Thanks! It's a fun project, to be sure!

cara 08-07-2011 08:55 PM

I sent off 6 postcards on Friday and spent my afternoon writing 12 more which will go in tomorrow's post. I'm trying to keep up and can't believe I've already received 2 or 3 from some people! (Not complaining, just feeling a bit overwhelmed).

Hugs!

Cara

little man 08-07-2011 09:08 PM

so, i was thinking the other day...

would anyone else be interested in doing home made x-mess cards for this group? i'm interested in doing some mail art and i thought this might be a nice segue, from vacation postcards to holiday cards.

i know it's only august (even though my calendar says july...gotta flip that), but with the size of the list now, i thought it would be good to gauge interest and leave time to get stuff made.

jo, not trying to hijack your thread here...just a random thought.

Rivkeh 08-08-2011 03:41 AM

Thankyou Diva, your postcard in the letterbox made my day!

I found that breaking writing/sending into smaller batches helps that feeling. :) So far, I don't think anyone has noticed that they get cards at different times, but they may now...

Does anyone sit and write the entire list at once? How long does that take?

Tcountry 08-08-2011 05:06 AM

Sunshyne & I tag team them when we are on vacation...
I haven't actually timed it...lol
But it is not terrible...

*raises hand* i do.

i never really timed it. the longest part of the process for me is figuring out which image to send to who. some folks i've known for a while, or know a little better than others...that helps to make my choices. the folks i don't know just get a blind grab or i try to send something that isn't from their part of the country. i've toyed with the idea of just taking the top card from the stack and sending it to the first person on my list, and so on.

if i had to guesstimate, i'd say maybe an hour or so.

damnit...here i am, posting before coffee again. *quietly stepping away to go make coffee*

jelli 08-08-2011 07:28 AM

I wonder if I bake for my mailman if he will bring my list faster?

justkim 08-08-2011 07:30 AM

Good morning! The first half of Colorado cards go out this morning... The rest will go out tomorrow... Enjoy! The places on the postcards are all within a 15 minute to 3 hour drive from here...

Not here yet. Our mail arrives about noon-1 depending on if we have a sub driver that day. I will pm it. Ty.

You're all in trouble now!!!!!

Nina 08-08-2011 07:45 AM

I have a stack which will be sent out this morning...I am a tiny bit worried since they are laminated and stuck onto postcard blanks (which I like a lot since I am too lazy to cut and glue my own)...I Might go to the trouble of checking with the woman to make sure they are gonna make it and don't need any additional postage...I really think they should/will be okay...

I tend to try and do them all at one time...my hand hurts when I try and scribble some message on the back, so I usually end up doing it in two sittings...for me, as well, trying to pick the card for the person takes the most time...

it's funny...I don't smoke (thank GdashD)...and it's been 10 years since I have, still doing the postcard thing makes me "miss" it...not really Miss it-miss it, but I notice when I would have been smoking during the process...and then, I get double milage out of the momentary thought of smoking, since I get to (once again) be so thankful I do not smoke...sorry, that was a little off topic, even for me!!

PaPa 08-08-2011 05:31 PM

I got one today...

Just wanted to thank Littleman for the beautiful postcard that I received today. I love black and whites so it was perfect! *Smile

I have decided that I may collage my postcards on one end of my countertop under an old refrigerator shelf glass. This way I will have all of the pictures as a reminder of this wonderful group and they will stay protected from moisture. :-)

1PlayfulFemme 08-08-2011 06:16 PM

Good gravy! There's a lot to read when life gets too busy to be on every weekend!! :) :)

Now, see, if Scoote is as much like my wife as I think she is...when it arrives, Jo may find Scoote trying to steam them apart so she can read your original message! ;)

I tend to do ours all at once, but now that the list has grown more, may break it into batches! I, also, haven't timed it, but would say around an hour and a half or so. I try not to write the same message on every card, tho some are repeats. I'm a "personalize it" kinda girl. So, that probably takes me a lil longer! And I am TOTALLY going to be as smart as Tommi & print out address labels!!! :D

You're welcome! Despite me saying I wasn't personalizing cards; I saw that and thought immediately of you. Each card in the series had a different word, and that was your word. I believe they're stickers of some sort...
