Angie and I were discussing this yesterday. We believe the explosive growth of the site and posting has been taxing the database along with the spammers trying to get in. We're contemplating upgrading the server to more memory and CPU as well as 64-bit with an eventual upgrade to 5 while keeping the same feel/look. Additionally, we're also looking at creating an "archive" location to put some of the older threads as well as having a few threads archive due to their size but still allowing members to access the threads at any time (not necessarily posting to them)

Gemme & Semantics....I,too, am getting them in inordinate amounts as well. Something else funky that has happened twice today is when I was trying to log on, I used my SN and password, BUT it said invalid user ID or password BUT sent me to homepage, and I went to my page and it said "logging on"......soooo

Linus, on some threads, esp with a post with multiple images in them, that seems to sluggishly move til I am past said post. Sometimes a page will have two or three posts with multiple images in them, sandwiched between different posts/users....so it goes warp speed, then sluggish, then warp...etc.
I noticed it will do same thing on the Music posts thread. Just offering up some FYI

Hello,
I'm not sure if it's just me or not, but for the past few days I have been getting database errors about half of the time while pages are loading. I thought I'd give you guys a heads up in case it isn't just on my end.
Thanks!

P.S. Like now; when I try to submit the reply; now I'm not sure if it will show up 2x or not at all.

Good to know.

I'm always happy to learn I haven't earned a spot on a site's miserable users list (because I wondered). :|

Good luck with it.

Gaige and I both have been getting a lot of Data Base Error messages. Mine seems to be primarily when I try to go to "User CP". In the last half hour, I am not able to access "User CP" at all.

JustBeingMe 02-28-2013 09:18 PM

Linus, sorry but I sent you an email with a screen shot from Chrome. I am getting tons of Database errors when trying to load up the website or signing in, or even trying to go into a thread and post or go between threads. pages are not acting correctly,ie I used the thanks button, it disappeared but didnt' show up as a thanks. Pages loading with huge amount of lagging and tying up my browser. I dont know what's going on. This has happend tons today and yesterday. I am glad to know it's not just me that's having Database errors.

Linus 02-28-2013 09:28 PM

Everyone we are aware of what's going on. We are working on it. We believe it is a denial of service as it's consistent at a specific time each day.

Admin 02-28-2013 09:47 PM

Looks like the pmtext table crashed which is causing the usercp issue. Running a repair...

Kelt 03-03-2013 04:09 PM

Quick question; I know a few months back a rule was established as to how many posts a user had to have before initiating threads. How many was that?

I checked in the TOS and did not see it there; also could not find a thread for it.

Linus 03-03-2013 05:04 PM

30. See this thread: http://www.butchfemmeplanet.com/foru...ead.php?t=5692

Kelt 03-03-2013 05:18 PM

Thank you, sorry I missed it. Perhaps it could be placed somewhere that would be easier for someone new to the site to find?

Unfortunately, I don't have any brilliant idea as to where that might be though...

Linus 03-03-2013 05:47 PM

I'll see about putting into a welcoming PM that could be received by new members upon joining.

JustBeingMe 03-04-2013 10:22 PM

I am getting Database errors for the site every time I try to post a reply to a thread or move between threads. Also, the pages are taking for ever to load when they do load.

Justy I can't be sure but I think it might have something to do with testing things out?

I don't know, but the database errors keep happening and the site is really slow and some times does not respond, I have to reload the page.
I've tried clearing my browser history and cache, but to no avail.

Linus 03-05-2013 12:06 AM

The database is acting wonky. It may take some time for it to settle down fully.

Help!

My partner is having trouble signing in and passing the standard questions? Can someone help? She can't remember her password and the questions she is getting wrong.

They can recover their password by going here: http://www.butchfemmeplanet.com/foru....php?do=lostpw

meridiantoo 03-06-2013 07:26 PM

She doesn't know what email she used to register

She's trying to make it through the prompt questions....how many fingers on a human hand? 4 or 5? Both were incorrect

How many letters in the United States? 8 separate letters, 12 total letters? both were incorrect.

What was the original account name?

meridiantoo 03-06-2013 07:31 PM

her user name is: graham18

Medusa 03-06-2013 07:31 PM

Try typing out the answer. Five

meridiantoo 03-06-2013 07:35 PM

I've had a password reminder sent to her email.

meridiantoo 03-06-2013 07:43 PM

She can't determine which email she used to sign up. She's checked all but one, and the one she can't check until she gets into work tonight because it's a work email, she has to use their server to access it. What can I say, she's an admin-challenged butch LOL

Is there a way to either assign her acct. to a new email or reset it or something?

I can give her email addy in a PM or whatever you need.

Hi Linus

I've just been to the chat volunteer thread to click on chat to get in and the thread is closed after saying chat is open.

Where do I now click to get in chat. I see nothing on the home page or in my user CP or on the tool bar that says Chat.

I've cleared cookies, cache and history and I still see nothing. Odd that I had no problems when it was beta but now can't find it anywhere :cheesy:

Medusa 03-08-2013 06:49 AM

Dakrari- click the chat logo on the home page. Upper right hand corner!

Daktari 03-08-2013 07:58 AM

Thanks ever so much Medusa :chaplin:

How can I delete previous user's notes? Thanks.

You cannot delete user notes. That requires an admin rights.

Hollylane 04-14-2013 04:06 AM

Is there any chance of ever adding an option for posting, to save your font settings (font/size/color/B/I...etc)?

In the off chance that it counts, that would get my vote! :)

Medusa 04-14-2013 02:27 PM

Yes and No.

Once we upgrade to 4.0 (our forum software solution), there is a mod that actually *will* save people's posting and font preferences. The problem is that we don't know what kind of load that will put on the system because it basically means that our server will have to search a "font table" every time you make a post to determine what your style should be.

This might be way more server intensive that we can handle for this many posters but we will certainly test it and see!

The only reason I asked about it, is because it is so difficult to use those features, when you are posting from a smart phone or tablet.

Thank you for answering Medusa, I can only hope it works, but if it doesn't, I promise I won't cry... :)

Andrea 06-16-2013 07:16 AM

I was attempting to make my signature line area smaller but no matter what I do (delete blank lines, smaller font, etc), I get the following error message:

1. BB code size value is too big.

What does this mean in everyday plain language?

Thank you

BB code is the code that is used to modify how characters appear (e.g., bold, italics, size of the font). It sounds like you might have been going too large with the font size.

Why can't I....

Post a picture to a visitor site? Tommi tried to walk me through it, but I don't have 'a yellow box' to check. Is it because of my status?

What do I need to do and where can I get more info?

Kind regards,

Ts_kaijira

Linus 07-14-2013 10:13 PM

Do you mean post a picture on someone's profile or in a thread? What you are looking for is this: http://www.syrlinus.com/wp-content/u...9.09.35-PM.jpg

Do you see the mountain/sun image?
