Hahaha, that was one of my easiest ones actually. Right now I am hella struggling with Zen believe it or not!

sis 06-08-2015 04:43 AM

Well, okay, I received my index cards and they are about 3"X5" ......... so, I'll need to make my own which isn't difficult as I have cardstock that will work well. However, could someone take a moment and send me the exact measurement of the standard '6 X4' cards. I know they should be 6" X 4" but you never know if they actually are.

Thank you!

Deb not-so-patiently-waiting-and-drinking :tea: I'm so darn excited to actually be working on a project rather than vicariously enjoying the process of others! lolol

Mine measure 4x6.

I sent you an email with a picture of the ones I have, on top of my cutting board so you can see the size.

Meditate! Damn auto correct. Meditate would have made it a Zen joke. Not a good one, but still.

How about crochet? Guess you could call me a hooker. Lol lol.

amiyesiam 06-09-2015 10:13 AM

My match boxes are almost done. My mermaid kind of looks a bit linebackerish. The hamburger one was the easiest, Gemme's is a bit hot, the zen one was a harmonious project, and the sugar skulls one is rather colorful! I am mostly pleased.

Ready... Set... Go!

For those of you in the Summer Recipe project, are there any foods you prefer cooking over others? (beef, fish, poultry, pork) Favorite summer fruits? Sangria? Marinades? Spicy or not so spicy? Just looking to try and personalize the recipe cards to each of you. I have my supplies and can't wait to sit down and get this party started. Anything that involves food should involve some kind of party. :cheer:

hey kim...thanks for asking...teetotalers here. We like spicy, marinades, all the summer fruits. We prefer to smoke most of our proteins, we love grilling as well as doing our veggies that way. I am excited to see the different things from everyone. I have included some desserts, some cute "drink ideas", and simple things....to name a couple...I am sure the whole booklet will be awesome, just seeing the creativity of everyone....

Re: Summer Recipes - I'm going to have to do some cooking before I start my cards. I haven't made many of my favorite recipes since last summer, and I need to make sure of the instructions. Yum!

I just bet they will be awesome!!!

I love reading the recipe chatter! I feel the excitement .

Remember to make six sets of recipes and 6 separator cards with your name on it. Refer to the directions that were sent.

Me, I'm a foodie. I love trying new things!

Been quite interesting having two crafters over here. He can't make up his mind..lol

sis 06-10-2015 03:27 AM

I like ALL FOODS - I'm definitely a foodie with a tendency toward using a minimum amount of dishes for preparation. lolol I'm really looking forward to this exchange!

I eat everything. Another total Foodie! I'm interested in seeing what everyone decides to include.

Dear Gemme
Wrong answer. Though a good answer. Want to guess again? Red hot, burny burny!

roflmao

Nope. I'm good. I'll wait to be surprised and delighted as usual.

In semi-related news, I've made great progress today. I would have made more progress or even finished if I didn't keep changing my mind about what direction to take each shrine. I had it all mapped out and then BAM!

New idea.

nycfem 06-13-2015 05:56 PM

3)purepicese-Buddah/Zen
4)AMI fairy gardens
5)nycfem - cute, colorful hamburgers
6)ahk-- day of the dead aka sugar skulls

AND saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Gemme, Ahk, and Besame!!!:wine::sushi::tea::bunchflowers::bouquet:

candy_coated_bitch 06-13-2015 07:48 PM

Thanks, nycfem! Was just coming in to post a reminder.

Gemme 06-14-2015 07:55 AM

Do you have to receive the shrines BY the 20th or must the postdate on the projects be no later than the 20th?

I forgot.

candy_coated_bitch 06-14-2015 01:09 PM

Post dated by the twentieth. I don't need to receive them by the 20th, just have them in the mail by then.

nycfem 06-14-2015 08:17 PM

For my shrines, I made "pulls" for opening them but I caution to please push from the back as you open with the pull so that the pull does not come off-- because the matchboxes are pretty tight (with art) and stuffed-- so it's all kind of a fragile deal!

CCB, I'm mailing you sometime this week. I am mailing the money separately in a sticker decorated envelope!

This project was the bomb dot com!

Agreed to all aspects.

If they made the inner box just a wee bit smaller, it would be better to accommodate the layers of paint and fluff and stuff.

I'm worried about some of my parts shifting in the mail so don't be surprised if each box is triple or even quadruple wrapped.

ahk's shrine has a part that I purposefully did not fasten down but it shouldn't create too much of a problem in shipping. Just be aware that that is intentional.

CCB
if you open my box and it smells a bit like surf and turf and burnt sugar it is becasue Gemme's spontaniously combusted.

candy_coated_bitch 06-15-2015 12:08 PM

I'm very excited to see these shrines. Spontaneously combusted? :|

I also wanted to give a gentle reminder about including some money to help with shipping costs. $5 would be most helpful. Please and thank you.

Noted. I believe this is a cautionary so I'm not all :readfineprint: to you later.

CCB, when will you be sending out the swaps after you receive them? 1 week, a few days, 9 days, 2 weeks, the next monday? :eatinghersheybar:

Nope, not at all! To be honest, your shrine was going sideways and downhill really fast but then a miracle happened and POOF! it was gorgeous and just right. It's my favorite as of this very moment.

I've fallen into the same Zen pit that CCB was in earlier but I have faith that it will all work out in the end. And, if it sucks that bad, I have a package of 20 other boxes to start over with.

:cheesy:

I know! I think I have a theme, but then I find a recipe I don't want to leave out!

GeorgiaMa'am 06-16-2015 10:41 AM

I developed a new recipe that I'm going to include! It's just a variation on an oldie but goodie, but it's perfect for summer. <Beaming proudly!>

I have to admit, most of the work I have done on this project so far involves cooking and eating.

clay 06-16-2015 12:53 PM

This has been such a fun project. Besame! I have 8 recipes....ENOUGH already! I did 5 & my honey wanted to put in 3 of hers!:glasses:

I will mail them within a couple days of receiving the last shipment. It should be a quick turnaround. I'm going to allow a good week for them to arrive (June 27th), then get them ready to send out. I will keep you updated as I receive them and hopefully the boxes will get to me in a timely manner. If they are all here early--I'll ship early.

I'm feeling like a slacker as I only have FOUR recipes. However, one of them is an original (I won 1st place for desserts and 1st place overall!)!
