I will keep you updated as I receive them and hopefully the boxes will get to me in a timely manner. If they are all here early--I'll ship early.

I braved a downpour to get to the post office at lunch today. Mine are on the way! I sent them in a priority package, so I hope you'll have it by the end of the week. ($5 included)

CCB - I really enjoyed this project. I would like to do this over and over with different themes! I went a little crazy with Jenn's. My sister was around when I was making them and she kept saying that the burger one was hilarious, which is NOT what I was going for! So, I made some alterations, but I guess we'll see.

I'm sorry my theme has turned out to be difficult. I was torn between Zen and Steampunk. Maybe steampunk would have been easier. See, we need to do another round!

ahk 06-17-2015 02:34 PM

I say we do another round!! I have some new ideas too-- that involve ATC (artist trading cards).

But I wanted to talk with CCB about it first-- with details. :)

Yay!!!! I will keep my eye out for your package.

I am up for another round of projects. Interested to hear what ahk's ideas are. (With details lol.)

No worries on having a challenging theme. I think I finally got myself to good place with yours! :)

Steampunk! I still have pieces from ami's project eons ago where she sent the same things to all of us and some of them would have worked for that. Maybe next time!

ORRRR

Maybe themes can be mashed, randomly. Steampunk Zen or Mermaid Gardens or Hamburger Sugar Skulls for example.

I would be up for another box/shrine round BUT I want bigger boxes dammit. There's so much I tried to do but it literally would not fit right with the minis.

My main issue is finding balance between too simple and too complicated and I find that much harder the smaller the pieces.

Because I have giant chubby fingers and I'm tired of gluing them together.

Ok, now I NEED a Steampunk Zen project! I still have pieces from ami's project, too. I loved that one!

It would be totally evil to package each one up so the wrangler could not see them. It would be awful.

It would be and I'm hoping you did not do that, missy!!! LOL

I'm panicking that mine are too simple.

nycfem 06-18-2015 07:51 PM

I packaged mine up so the wrangler could not see them, but not because I didn't want the wrangler to see them- it's just that they were so tiny and fragile-y put together that I felt I really had to anchor them in packaging. So Sorry, CCB, I would have actually preferred you see them. I think that's one of the most fun things about wrangling (getting to see all the projects).

candy_coated_bitch 06-18-2015 07:54 PM

It is the most fun part! It is! Oh well, I'll live.

Did you take pictures beforehand? If so, you could just send them to her.

I've pretty much done the same thing. One thing I'm really glad about is that CCB's shrine only has one mailing to survive. That one has a couple of really delicate pieces in/on it.

nycfem 06-19-2015 05:50 AM

I didn't take photos for CCB but that would have been the perfect way to handle it! Next time!

UPDATE: Today I received shrines in the mail from purepisces and nycfem. Also, nycfem I received your separate envelope with the money. Thank you.

So here's where we stand:

ahk - received
nycfem - received and they are packaged adorably
purepisces - received and they are gorgeous!
Gemme - en route
amiyesiam - en route

I will keep you guys posted!

Mine is scheduled to reach you Monday.

Like nyc, I wrapped those suckers good for the best safekeeping possible BUT I did include some pics I printed out. Sorry my printer's almost out of color, so they are pretty pale but you can see what they looked like before I wrapped them up and if yours is damaged, let me know. I'll figure something else out.

Yay! After reading everyone's posts, I realized I did not wrap them for safe keeping. I hope the heat didn't melt the glue holding everything together!

I took pictures of mine, if anyone wants to see them later. Ccb- I'll send you pictures of the ones I receive once I get them unwrapped.

I can't wait!!!

As much as my voyeur self would love to see every shrine, I totally understand the need for careful packaging. Thanks for taking pic, though. I look forward to that and will keep my eye out for your package Monday.

Keeping my fingers crossed for my delicate little shrine!

Gemme, your shrines arrived which means they are ALL in and accounted for. Yay!

And just so you know the delicate bit on mine survived and I also love it! :)

I will get these back out in the mail Thursday or Friday at the latest.

candy_coated_bitch 06-23-2015 09:26 PM

Just wanted to let you know shrines went out today. Cause I'm lightning quick like that. ahk yours is due to arrive on Friday, the rest should get yours Thursday.

Thank you each and everyone of you for making this project incredible. Everyone stepped up to the plate big time and I think everyone is going to be so happy with what they receive. I love all of my shrines and appreciate everyone's creativity and love.

Please post and let us know when your shrines have arrived. :)

ahk 06-25-2015 11:14 AM

I received mine today (Thursday).

I love them all. But I have questions-- whose is whose?

nycfem- I love yours, thank you for the skulls and fun!!
purepisces- the colours are amazing and the layering work! Thank you.
ccb-that paper looks very familiar! :|

So-- I don't know amiyesiam or gemmes, so spill it-- who did what? PS. They both are awesome.

In the future, can everyone sign their work-- it makes it a lot easier to remember in future who did what.

:)

candy_coated_bitch 06-25-2015 06:01 PM

Yeah, I not only forgot to make a point about signing them, I forgot to sign two of mine. Sorry about that!

PS You gave me that paper looooooong ago.

Mine is the one with loose skull face inside. I warned you about that.

:eyebrow:

I take it as high praise if you can't tell mine from ami's. She's the epitome of awesomeness.

I got mine today too and I have to say.....wow. I think this is the most excellent bunch of work as a whole that I've ever received.

ahk, you lied. Yours wasn't pretty. It was GORGEOUS and so creative. I love the deconstructed version.

And you.....YOU.....Jennifer.

No wonder you wrapped it so well.

I opened the box in front of my new employee and she LOVED them all. She was very impressed by all of your work and mine too (I had pics on my phone of what I sent out). We did sooooo good, y'all!

Gemme-I actually really enjoyed yours, very creative. I love the skull inside the window. Thank you.

And I'm glad you enjoyed what I created for you- actually everyone got a deconstructed version but just different. I really enjoyed doing this project.

I would also like to add-- I am agreeing 500% that this has been the BEST swap in a very long time. Good work everyone!!

purepisces 06-25-2015 09:14 PM

ccb - This was an amazing swap! And, this is by far the fastest turn around to receive the project. Thank you!!!

ami - It's so sophisticated! Just beautiful.

ahk - Totally unexpected, and, dare I say, outside the box! ;) You made Zen fun & playful.

ccb - This has a real meditative "feel" to it. I love the stone you included, it has a great energy.

Gemme - Stunning. I love the juxtaposition of the two Buddha faces on the outside. And, great texture on the inside. Such a clever use of the toothpick.

nycfem - Wow! I love it, happy Buddha & hear, see, say no evil Buddha. You always have the best "stuff."

Thank you everyone. This was wonderful.

I did write AHK and ami on your zip lock bag! I didn't want to write on them. Mine is the one with the white skull that is painted.

Oh the excitement that's going on! Receiving a project is the best. It really sounds like a good time and some great work was done by all!

The turn around and the fact they all arrived, is the reason we like to participate. Great job, Candy Coated!

amiyesiam 06-25-2015 10:39 PM

I also got mine today and they are all amazing. I agree that this is the best swap in a long time!

nycfem 06-25-2015 11:40 PM

So excited to get my happy hamburgers!!!

ahk- so very creative! Wowza!

purepisces- unexpected colors, purdy burgers!

Ami- fun activity! Way cool!

A little confusion as to which was Gemme's and which was CCB's which may have been due to MY mixing up packaging or something, so I'll guess (I'll assume I'm right unless you tell me I'm wrong- and if I'm wrong, definitely let me know!)!

CCB- "When nice dishes are served on the table, all of us taste them wonderfully", bead pull, sheer perfection! (heart an especially nice touch)

Gemme- The best hamburger pull charm in the entire world!

***
My pref is generally not writing right on the project and instead putting the name on the packaging- kind of keeps the project itself pristine (when applicable).
***
Really exciting that everyone came through! A challenging project and very satisfying!

sis 06-27-2015 05:54 AM

Check in .......

Well, I figured I should take a few minutes to share the excitement I'm feeling regarding being finished with my contribution to the 1st Summer Project aka recipe-cards-a-go-go or some equally fun name. Better yet, a coworker that works in a different program than me, who happens to be leaving for Florida tomorrow, Sunday, has my cards of deliciousness and plans on mailing them on Tuesday!! WOO HOO!! I'll actually be ahead of the game this year.

Besame, with immense gratitude and respect, thank you for wrangling this project allowing me to participate. Once I figured out what to do with the bits and pieces I picked up along the way, I was quite tickled with the results. I'm so looking forward to receiving my packet of contributions from all others in this project.

On a personal note, I'm done teaching on Tuesday, last day of work is Thursday, leave for my beloved Canada on Friday! Here's to my last week of school! :tea: lolol

what have I been missing, art, swaps, fun packages full of beauty? I miss my art room, I do try and art journal on our dining room table but the amount of supplies I have make it almost impossible.

We are finishing our basement and making an art studio (small but that's fine with me)

I look forward to playing with all of you and exchanging enchanting creativity, I so miss it...

Oh and congrats to us all!!!!!!!!

Okay-- I LOVE ATCs. (Artist Trading Cards)

I haven't talked to CCB about it yet but I was thinking-

This is ATC for Christmas l thought it would be cool to have Christmas in July. So for this swap you will make 6 ATCs that has a christmas theme on it. You will have 6 wonderful partners to make a lovely card for. The card can have whatever you want on it as long as it has something to do with christmas, like a tree, stockings, vintage claus, gingerbread, etc.

Size: The ATC must measure 2.5 x 3.5 and have a sturdy (non-flimsy) backing. NO Cards with JUST STICKERS! Use glitter, paint, stamps, embellishments, ribbon, yarn, bling bling or whatever is needed to make your ATC look it’s best.

Write your name, date, swap name (and name of your ATC) on the back of your card.

Sign-up Deadline: July 6, 2015 (Monday)
Date items must be sent by: July 25, 2015 (Saturday)
Number of Swap Partners: 6
Please send 5 dollars along with your cards to help with shipping.
