Replaying the sound of her humming in my kitchen as she made tea. Remembering the sounds she made as I kissed her - the hesitation just before her small sigh of letting go and the rush of blood in my ears when I felt her shiver as my hand slid up her back and into her hair. Hearing her say, "I should go" after a lifetime of exploring her mouth - or maybe only 10 minutes. Was that reluctance I heard in her voice? Or was it disappointment? Disappointment in whom? Now listening to cold tea and a very quiet house now. Is this the sound of my broken promise coming back to haunt me?
