The original packing question is a tough one, I have a wee small flat so I *try* really hard not to have too much unused "stuff".

I have half a dozen unused/unopened Yankee candles, my BF works there and he's often dropping by with one, I'm not really a smelly candle kinda gal so one side of my credenza is full of them.

I also had a couple of samplers of flavored coffee that my mother gave me for Christmas last year - I detest flavored coffee... I did get desperate a few weeks ago and broke one open, it was more horrible than I expected. :P

Just speaking for myself (Surely I can't be alone):

When vacuuming, if the vacuum leaves a piece of lint behind, I'll stop, pick it up and examine it, then drop it again as if to give the vacuum a second chance.

When I make up voices for my cats, and narrate what they seem to be thinking or "saying" (no comments, JAGG!)

When I yell at the TV during football, as if that would do any good.
