Welcome to the fray, Surferboi!

Gemme 09-25-2015 05:37 AM

I'd like your attention, please.

Someone brought my attention to something. In the examples I linked, there is a triptych that I do NOT want to see from anyone.

Cowboys are fine but, please, no naked cowboys.

Even if they make you happy.

No full frontal nudity, please.

Side boob is okay, because I'm not a prude.

I have a question...

"Please do not make pieces bigger than 5x7."

Ok, so if I make hinged panels, each piece can be 5x7, folded up they would fit into the size requirements...OR...when 3 pieces are hinged open, they are 5x7.???

Bèsame* 09-26-2015 05:44 PM

I hope everybody got their mosaics. I have yet to hear from ami and pure. I hope the post office worked in our favor :)

im hoping that each piece no more than 5x7 for a total folded up of 5x7.. otherwise it almost makes it too small

amiyesiam 09-26-2015 06:54 PM

I got mine yesterday and finally looked at them today. They are all lovely as expected. I want to thank everyone for their beautiful work.

If you do a hinged piece, then the folded piece should fit in the size parameter. I'm only concerned about the size of the pieces as they are going through the mail and I was thinking that hinged pieces would be mailed folded.

Does that make things a bit more clear?

Here's some examples.

What I want is a triptych....however you see it. The theme is up to you. Let your imagination loose! Positive emotional connection please, no sadness or anger allowed.

Please do not create pieces larger than 5x7. It can be one single piece with 3 panels or carved panels that are hinged together or a unique design to you. As long as it's one piece and it makes you happy.

There is no restriction on materials. Photos are fine as long as they are happy and meet the size parameter. If you go glitter crazy, please warn me/the recipient.

Make sure to clearly note which work is yours on each piece. You can write it on the back or put the pieces in a baggie and write it on the baggie. Whatever works as long as we know without a doubt who did what. I like what we've been doing with noting the artist, the date and the project on the pieces. That's a nice touch that I'd like to continue.

The deadline to sign up is September 29th @ 8am EST.

There is no restriction on the number of participants. I'm giving us a month to complete and send them, which should be fair even if we get a good sized bunch.

The deadline to mail the project is October 28th. Your work MUST be postdated on or before this date.

Please include $5 for repacking and postage costs. Grazie!!!

We already know what the next project is and who is wrangling it so please get your work in on time so we can roll right into the next project and finish before the end of the year.

"For 2015, the rule is if one of us is more than a week late or drops out of a project for whatever reason, that person is welcome to continue posting but is not allowed to sign up for a group project again until January 1st, 2016. No exceptions. This rule applies to participants and to wranglers. This rule must be posted at the bottom of all new projects that are being wrangled so that members can thoughtfully consider whether we wish to commit to a new project."

5. Breathless

7. CCB

You will make 10 triptych pieces, unless you'd like to receive one back for yourself and in that case, you'd make 11.

Please see the details above and if you have any questions, don't be shy about it. Someone else might have the same question.

I will make one change to our standard procedure. I will give you all the option of how you want your projects mailed back to you. If you are fine with a padded manila envelope, then send $5.00 for postage and repackaging. If you would like a boxed package, please send $7.00.

This project has been about giving the participants as much power as possible throughout the process. Why stop now?

One...two...three...CREATE!!!!

I can't wait to see what you all come up with!

purepisces 09-29-2015 11:04 AM

First, I'm sorry I haven't stopped by sooner to let everyone know that I got the last round and they were wonderful!!! I signed up for a writing competition through NYC Midnight, and have been wrapped up in that.

Second, I can't believe I am five hours too late to sign up for this round! Looks like a great project. I'm sorry I missed it.

Have fun!

Gemme 10-03-2015 06:18 PM

Has everyone had a chance to check out Pintrest or Google images for ideas?

25 days left to get your projects in the mail!!!

I have begun mine...and will work more tomorrow as well!

I sure do love this project....and already going in my mind on next one...:).

Gemme 10-04-2015 08:47 AM

I hear you, clay.

I actually already have ideas jotted down for nycfem's Postsecret project right next to my notes for this project. lol

candy_coated_bitch 10-04-2015 09:00 AM

I think I have a plan! Woohoo! I'm ready to get started.

nycfem 10-04-2015 04:35 PM

I spent my day mixing acrylic inks with names like Hot Mama Red and Macaw Green and trying to create a distressed look-- purposely on my triptychs and accidentally on my fingernails.

clay 10-04-2015 06:18 PM

HOT! I tell you! Hot! :). I love it Jen...I am so excited to see your work!!!!

ahk 10-04-2015 06:28 PM

I've been taking LOTS of pictures! I received a new camera for my birthday and I'm having lots of fun.

~SweetCheeks~ 10-06-2015 06:16 PM

I have so many ideas, but no clue really what I am doing or how.... Realizing the crafty/creative gene has missed me. Not giving up just may not be the best project.... :seeingstars: I GOT THIS!

nycfem 10-06-2015 06:44 PM

Just do whatever you enjoy and we will enjoy it knowing you enjoyed making it (whoops, overuse of the word "enjoy").

You can do this... Just look at the ideas out there and pick a direction.. Then pick the topic.. It is very normal to be over whelmed, I've done a few of these and I still have a moment where I wonder what I was thinking, it's all good. You can do this, we are all our own Picasso, in our own way. Just have to put the you in your project and you will have success.. I promise.

Btw... You are 1 of 2 people I talked into giving this a try, it is so much fun, so try not to stress..

~SweetCheeks~ 10-06-2015 11:47 PM

Thank you to each of you. I'm really excited to do this. I think I've found my theme and direction. I will dive in tomorrow on it. You all are amazing and encouraging thank you.

As others have said, this is perfectly normal to feel.

Excellent! We all have different crafting levels and some are more fun and loosey goosey and some are more structured and very Mahhhtha Stewart and some fall in between. Don't worry about perfection; just try to enjoy the process of it all and I'm sure your work will be beautiful.
