Kartniss~~(guess what's for dinner tonight?) |
talk about fresh food....
and then we have this. The squid is dead (main portion chopped off in kitchen) but the salt in the soy sauce interacts with the muscles to cause them to move. I don't care how much of a delicacy this is...if my meal gets up and walks away on it's on....then so am I. Katniss~~ (and to think ya'll be dissin' on the okra) |
bahahaha!
I like pork fatback - chicharrones, calamari breaded and fried, tripe, liver, and gizzards. sorry folks that's good stuff! LOL what is icky to me is the mexican version of mole in that they add chocolate or peanut butter to it. icky! don't like it tasting sweet only spicy with red chile. |
Poi in Hawaii. It really does taste like wallpaper paste.
My ex bought and cooked beef tongue!!! I could not even look at it. Major ewwwwww Caviar .... fish eggs ??? No way Icky foods to me |

I feel you Dante. Except on the tongue, a.k.a. "Lengua." I am not a cook but I have eaten some of the best lengua when cooked home made the mexican way. Delicious! |
While I was teaching in Bangkok 10 years ago I was taken out for a Lunar New Year meal. My hosts especially ordered a sauteed goose foot dish - it was quite slimy, chewy and full of little bones. I would say that was my ickiest dish every eaten. Now, give me :sushi: any day, any way and I'm quite a happy camper!

I totally agree. I made the mistake of ordering that exactly once. NEVER AGAIN! |

Smoked Salmon Nigiri.... *barf*
This was a few year ago, and I accidently checked the wrong salmon box. I'm not sure if the salmon was bad in some way, or if that was how it is supposed to taste (I have never been able to try smoked salmon again). I always check my nigiri order twice to make sure I have not accidentally checked "smoked" instead of fresh. Lol. Close second.... Munching on some dry ceral *unknowingly* while it was covered in ants. Good times!!! |

that hot mustard asian condiment. reminds me of paint thinner or something, not that I've eaten that, the smell!

I had some NASTY Thai one time when I was on the way Ithaca for a day trip (when I used to live in upstate NY many moons ago)
Thankfully, I had had GOOD Thai already, otherwise that stuff would have sworn me off it. Makes me wonder if my first experience with Vietnamese food was a bad fluke....it wasn't BAD persay...it was just really SALTY tasting...and this from a girl who loves her salt! |
My own cooking! I just don't have that knack I'm sorry to say:blink:
|
I tried escargot once and it really grossed me out. Now that I am thinking about it, I don't know what I was thinking lol.

I had creme brulee at a restaurant which was severely burned on top. It tasted like charcoal. I couldn't bring myself to even swallow it and spit it out into my napkin. I only recently had the courage to try it again.
And I hate okra. |
Headcheese. It's not a cheese, it's parts of a pigs head, minus the brains and the eyes. Then it's cooked and pressed into a spicey jelled stock. It's not for every one. It wasn't for me. I only agreed to try it because I ended up loving Braunschweiger, and it's ingredients didn't sound very appetizing either.

My ex had spent 12 years in the Philippines as a missionary and dared me to try balut. There was an Asian grocery around the corner of the pub. I was almost drunk and did it.
The memories. They haunt me. I didn't finish it, either (she finished it with no qualms.) *shudder* |
