Back to regularly scheduled recommendations folks, my list is getting whittled down and I need new ideas! |
I liked Sens8; my current binge is Fringe, and with 5 seasons, it will keep me entertained for a few weeks.

Regrettably I just finished Sense8 and have already watched Fringe, excellent by the way, enjoy. :movieguy: |
A while back somebody got me hooked on "The Americans", now I'm out of that and need some more cold war fix. "The Assets" is doing a nice job. :movieguy:
|
I recently watched Chuck and Nikita... both good.
I really want to watch the Daredevil one when I have time next... :D |

I was alive and very aware of cold war espionage at the time so for me it's a lot of memories of my twenties, I remember these events. The pre-tech period and tradecraft is refreshing now that everything is so tech. It's close to a documentary and in fact the last episode is a recap of the real events and newscasts with the real life people who were portrayed. (docudrama?) This was a great bonus for me but if you're looking for a fictional drama it might not be the fit you're looking for. If you enjoy espionage for it's own sake, I would try another episode or two before giving it a toss, it draws you in on that level. :movieguy: |
Best binge-worthy t.v. shows, please. My tastes are eclectic but I am running out of things to watch. Help would be appreciated! Also perusing this thread. I might try sense8.

Did you watch Bloodline? Really great series. Gillian Anderson as a UK police inspector in The Fall? Quite good. Also Peaky Blinders, two seasons. Very good. If you have HBO GO, Game of Thrones. LOVE IT! Also on Amazon Prime but you would have to pay and it gets pricey. We just finished season 3 of The Vikings. On Amazon Prime. Loved it! Eagerly awaiting season 4 but it won't be on History channel until 2016. I just watched the trailer for season 4 last night. They previewed it at ComicCon. Ragnar! Waiting for you! Not a series but one of my all-time favorite concert movies: The Last Waltz. About The Band's last concert. On Netflix. Just terrific. Will think about other good ones I have not listed before. :) |

I ended up going with Bloodline. I've watched two episodes and feel pretty into it. I tried Sense8 but after two and a half episodes I felt like the plot line was still really garbled, and not binge worthy. I may go back at some point but not right now.
Thanks for all the help, Anya! |
I just started to watch Graceland-- pretty good.
Here are a few others that I've watched. Magic City The Mind of a Chef Wet Hot American Summer And I've watched in movies-- Hercules Romeo & Juliet Aviator What's eating gilbert grape? The Skeleton twins Comet I have bloodline-- lined up to watch. |
Probably a little bit late to the party, but recently got into Suits. Great show!
Also saw that someone recommended Wentworth, totally second that! |
I just saw the trailer for a new series coming on Netflix on August 28th called Narco. It's about the cocaine trafficking of the late '70's and early 80's.
It looks pretty good. Glad you have some new shows to watch CCB:) |

We are on episode 4 and there are 10 episodes. |
Tonight, I'm watching an old western with Raquel Welch.

Wentworth. I think there are 3 seasons available on Netflix. I actually like it better than Orange is the New Black.

I have Sens8 saved in my queue, but haven't gotten to it yet. |
OITNB June 17th! Season 4 looks really good!

Bloodline, season 2!
If anyone has watched the very good season one of Bloodline on Netflix, I finally found that season two is starting.
Great series about a super dysfunctional family in Florida. It has suspense, drama, murder and everything you could sink your teeth into for some great binge-watching. It has a stellar cast with terrific acting. From Deadline Hollywood: Playing brothers on different sides of the law, Kyle Chandler and Ben Mendelsohn earned Emmy noms for the first season of the family drama set in the Florida Keys. Linda Cardellini, Sam Shepard, Sissy Spacek, Norbert Leo Butz, Jamie McShane, Jacinda Barrett and Enrique Murciano also star. KZK Productions and Sony Pictures Television produce for Netflix The Netflix series’ 10-episode second season will premiere on May 27. |
Just finished up How to get away with Murder on Netflix. Oh my gosh. I swear. Viola Davis is perfect in anything that she does. I highly recommend you watch this. I binged it in 2 days. lol.
And now getting ready to watch the new show "Lady Dynamite" LMAO looks hilarious |
Peaky Blinders season 3 streaming now.
The first 10 minutes reminded me how good it is! |
Sweet documentary about 1950's movie and recording star Tab Hunter,
called: Tab Hunter Confidential I needed a break from the dark drama of Bloodline and the murderous mayhem of Peaky Blinders. |
I gotta say, alternating episodes of Downton Abby with Marco Polo is certainly an excersize in contrasts.

Netflix prices rising
If anyone was on the original Netflix plan of receiving DVD's (so long ago!) and then changed to the just streaming plan for $7.99 per month; that is changing.
Netflix is raising prices to $9.99 for strictly streaming. I first read it on a blog but then got a nice message on my screen from Netflix when I turned on my Roku yesterday. Rise in price is effective August 1st. This may or may not apply to you. |

Yes, my price here in Canada also went up to $9.99...and it doesn't help that we have about half the choices that Americans get because of distribution rights issues ( or so they tell us).
But, to add to my misery these days, as soon as Netflix kicks in, I get a message on my screen requiring me to sign in...and that is long and tedious with letter picking off the tv screen using the up-down arrows of my tv remote. NetFlix says it's LG's fault ( tv brand) LG says it's Netflix fault. Anyone recognise this issue or something similar? Each says that everything is up to date from their end when i read off all the versions, numbers, messages, etc etc etc over the phone to those highly skilled call-centre technical professionals. |
We had this problem when we installed Netflix on the GF's Samsung smart TV. It drove me nearly insane until I typed into Google: "problems logging into Netflix on Samsung Smart TV.
There were pages of people with the same problem and I followed the most logical directions and fixed it. I tried Google just now and substituted "Problems logging into Netflix with LG TV" and it appears you are not the only one! You might find the answer among the responses. Best of luck! |
Anyone watch Stranger Things on Netflix?
I liked it. I think there are 8 episodes and I just read they got the OK for season 2. Narcos will be back with season 2 on September 2. Anything else good on Netflix (or Prime) that you have seen? PS: Collette did you get your Netflix problem solved? |
Movies
I had bought all 4 seasons of Orange is the new Black and just finished watching season 4 OMG it is fabulous. Cant wait for #5 to clear up the cliff hangers. I think season 4 is the best one yet.
