A root vegetable and butternut squash (it needs using up) stir fry rice-y thing with garlic and fresh ginger. It doesn't have a name. I'll probably add spinich..... (it needs using up too).

Just water with dinner. I like to taste drinks and foods seperately.

While cleaning the back porch we had spinach pizza.
Apparently it was just an appetizer!
My SIL went to a deli and picked up a bunch of stuff for a buffet dinner: roasted chicken, roasted beets, a carrots & parsnips dish, feta & spinach potato cakes, a loaf of cornbread and a chocolate danish cake for dessert. For drinks we had our choice of Magners cider, Bud Lime or a sangria.
And, just because we finally could: we ate dinner around the table on the newly cleaned back porch. Such a nice end to a busy day.

Hah! I think it's ace you had to look up what I was having for dinner...or that you even bothered to :raspberry:

Haggis is tasty...especially a proper Scottish local butcher made version - these often keep with tradition and are contained in a sheep stomach.

What the Scots call neeps we Sasanachs (English) call swede. It all gets very confusing doesn't it?

Leeks are a great vegetable...sweat them down with a little water, a fat knob of butter, a good grinding of (Keralan) black pepper and they're yummy.

Simple supper

Last night I had more of the potato/leek soup, and a small grilled Irish cheddar sandwich with homemade mango chutney and cucumber slices on Balthazar whole grain. Simple and satisfying, as I was spinning on my new spindle and did not want to quit!

femmennoir 08-11-2011 08:42 PM

Since I had lunch at this new (for me) organic burger place in the West Village (organic beef, very very rare, green salad, and a British organic cherry ale), I was not hungry for dinner. I had a lemon tart and an iced chai at Sweet Melissa's, where one of my knitting groups meets. We were having the annual yarn/knitting books swap, and what a fun evening!

My sister and I had gone out of town earlier today. Then I had a late appointment at the doctor. By the time we got home we didn't feel like doing anything. Lucky for us our SIL had brought home a plateful of sandwiches from her meeting at the university. I had 1/2 of a turkey pita sandwich and 1/2 of a roast beef pita sandwich. And some corn chips. And a Magners.

Making an organic corn chowder, with green pepper, potato, carrot, applewood thick sliced bacon, vegetable broth and milk (all organic), will garnish it with garlic scapes and parsley, and will have a glass of non organic Chardonnay with it.
