Turnip greens (from frozen, sadly. I remember my mom soaking and cleaning collards every New Year's, but I am too lazy.)

Blackeyed peas (just a taste. I hate them.)

I made cornbread for breakfast. So that is done. It would be wasted with such a large dinner. I had it with butter and raw honey and two mugs of tea about 5am. Nice way to start the day.

I'm craving fried catfish...and so it shall be.

My Texan New Year meal will include black-eyed peas with fresh onions, cabbage and veggie salad, cornbread, and thick cut bacon. Cold peppermint tea to drink.

Tiki masala chicken with jasmine rice

Leftover champagne, peanut butter and jelly, and pickles.

- beef lo mein
- sweet and sour pork
- egg rolls
- the last bit of apple pound cake

Today I cooked New England boiled dinner which consists of:

Pork roast
Cabbage
Onion
Carrots
Potatoes
Celery

I was brought up with us cooking at all day but I throw it in the pressure cooker and cook it for just a little over an hour and it is absolutely delicious

What every self respecting Texan has on New Years Day; black eyed peas {i make mine very thick} and cornbread {i like mine very sweet}. A little cranberry & gingerale virgin cocktail and then cheesecake to sweeten the deal. Perfect.

I made nachos with green salsa :).

Fried cabbage with bacon and onions. Black eyed peas. Cornbread and a tea to wash it all down.

What every good Southerner is having;

Black eyed peas
Collard greens (slow simmered all day)
Cornbread
Pan fried ham
Baked sweet potato

Of course the veggies were cooked with ham hocks.
