If I Ruled The World -- Tony Bennett If I ruled the world, Every day would be the first day of spring, Every heart would have a new song to sing, And we'd sing of the joy every morning would bring. If I ruled the world, Every man would be as free as a bird, Every voice would be a voice to be heard, Take my word we would treasure each day that occurred. My world would be a beautiful place, Where we would weave such wonderful dreams. My world would wear a smile on its face, Like the man in the moon has when the moon beams. If I ruled the world, Every man would say the world was his friend, There'd be happiness that no man coud end, No my friend, not if I ruled the world. Every head would be held up high, There'd be sunshine in everyone's sky, If the day ever dawned when I ruled the world ~Theo~ :winky::listening::bouquet: |
I Left My Heart In San Francisco -- Tony Bennett The loveliness of Paris seems somehow sadly gay The glory that was Rome is of another day I've been terribly alone and forgotten in Manhattan I'm going home to my city by the Bay I left my heart in San Francisco High on a hill, it calls to me To be where little cable cars climb halfway to the stars The morning fog may chill the air, I don't care My love waits there in San Francisco Above the blue and windy sea When I come home to you, San Francisco Your golden sun will shine for me ~Theo~ :winky::listening::bouquet: |
Autumn Leaves -- Frank Sinatra The falling leaves Drift by the window The autumn leaves Of red and gold I see your lips The summer kisses The sunburned hands I used to hold Since you went away The days grow long And soon I'll hear Old winter's song But I miss you most of all My darling When autumn leaves Start to fall ~Theo~ :winky::listening::bouquet: |

Possibly one of the funniest moments in music history.
Welk clearly didn't know what this song meant, but some of his musicians must have. :)

One last one! Sorry. I just ran across this.
Lyrics and sound in this capture so well where I grew up. I was back there in '83 and this was the only song being played. So popular in the hills, but I don't know about anywhere else.
