Actually, I had yesterday dinner menu tonight, because yesterday I forgot it was my knitting night, and we hold the group at Whole Foods so we always eat there, and I had delicious fried calamari with lemon slices! The seared duck breast with caramelized shallots and pears tonight was out of this world! Half left for tomorrow, I will slice it very thin and have it over greens I think!
Elle, who got the makings for berry ice-cream (I have red currants, raspberries, and cherries form the green market).

"clean out the fridge" leftovers. last nite I had salad with leftover pieces of steak, grated cheese and a Trader Joe's cilantro, garlic, lime dressing that I recently discovered.
tonight, left over pot roast, veggies and whatever else is in there that doesn't have little green fuzzies on them

femmennoir 06-23-2010 01:01 PM

Tonight leftovers for me as well: thinly sliced very rare breast of duck over heart of romaine lettuce, with a tangerine, sesame oil and Thai basil vinaigrette, and assorted berries (cherries, raspberries, blueberries and red currants) with a scoop of homemade vanilla ice-cream...a glass of chardonnay to accompany....

I love scallops! So easy to sear, and voilą! A squeeze of lime, and ready to eat!
By the way, I love boys interested in herbs! (bois, too!). Then he can design his own labels, and put them in little envelopes and give as gifts!

She is the best boy ever. :wine:

I used some delicious balsamic vinegar, and oh my goodness, that brings out the sweetness of the scallops.

A tip on herbs..I wanted to grow an herb guarden so I could have fresh when I needed it,so I bought a kids wagon that was big enough to hold 8 medium sise pots that fit just right in the wagon,I put some pea graven on the bottom and out the planted pots on top, when its too hot or cold I can roll then wagon to a better place for the herbs so they wont get burned but the hot or frozen by the cold.At the moment I have a full rolleing herb guarden thgat shure looks good later this year im going to try to dehydrate some and see how it works.

redrose 06-23-2010 08:23 PM

I dry my own herbs, it is very easy, I just bundle them and hang them on the knobs of my kitchen cabinets! Presto! Dry herbs!

When you take your herbs, cut them and put them in evoo. Makes it more tastey. Give as Christmas, Birthday, Anniversary gifts.

Another thinking is to take herbs and use them when making bread. Nothing makes fresh bread taste soooo good than with fresh herbs!

Dinner:
Hot Roast Beef
Mashed Potatoes
Peas and Onions
Blueberries & Strawberries
Bottled Water

Grave Gourmet....by Alexander Campion (his first mystery)

Tonight I had two sauerkraut dogs and a papaya drink at Gray's Papaya on 6th Avenue of all things, because I was going to a book signing at the Mystery Bookstore in the West Village, and there was no time for dinner, and I knew I would have some wine! It was fun, and I bought the book, and I was the first person in the world to buy his book so he was moved, they photographed me with him, and it turns out he lived in Paris for 35 years and was a food critic there so we spoke French, the book involves food, needless to say, so I am looking forward to reading it!

Elle*, fed but not a memorable meal!
