my dog really likes people food including drinks. she'll often grab my starbucks cup and rip it enough to lick the bottom. but tonight she got the soda cup (she's never had any interest in soda before) off my night stand and brought it onto the bed. where it dumped allllllll over my pillows.
she's lucky that shes so freakin cute.

I have been on a research run lately...trying to find books to help me figure these things called "relationships" out. I feel like I keep making the same mistakes over and over again when it comes to communication. Soooo, I found two books that come highly recommended by friends that will help me on this path to better communication and also a better relationship the next time around...some day.

"Receiving Love: Transform your relationship by letting yourself be loved"
and
"The 5 Languages of Love: The secret to love that lasts"

I am very excited to expand my mind and perhaps learn some things about myself that will make me grow and become a better person all around.

HeLLO 2011!!

For the wrong woman, you work hard on seeming like a certain guy. For the right one, you become that guy.

Dogs shouldn't eat people food. It's not good for them.

Number 5 talks about caffeine, like teas and coffees and number six talks about grapes and raisins.

Don't make me come over there!

http://www.peteducation.com/article....+1659&aid=1030

The first is in a slideshow format and the second link is in a listed format or, if someone's feeling lazy, just read below.

Items to avoid feeding dogs and why:

Alcoholic beverages-Can cause intoxication, coma, and death.

Avocado-The leaves, seeds, fruit, and bark contain persin, which can cause vomiting and diarrhea.

Bones from fish, poultry, or other meat sources-Can cause obstruction or laceration of the digestive system.

Cat food-Generally too high in protein and fats.

Chocolate, coffee, tea, and other caffeine-Contain caffeine, theobromine, or theophylline, which can cause vomiting and diarrhea and be toxic to the heart and nervous systems.

Citrus oil extracts=Can cause vomiting.

Fat trimmings-Can cause pancreatitis.

Fish (raw, canned or cooked)-If fed exclusively or in high amounts can result in a thiamine (a B vitamin) deficiency leading to loss of appetite, seizures, and in severe cases, death.

Grapes, raisins and currants-Contain an unknown toxin, which can damage the kidneys. There have been no problems associated with grape seed extract.

Hops-Unknown compound causes panting, increased heart rate, elevated temperature, seizures, and death.

Human vitamin supplements containing iron-Can damage the lining of the digestive system and be toxic to the other organs including the liver and kidneys.

Macadamia nuts-Contain an unknown toxin, which can affect the digestive and nervous sy-tems and muscle.

Marijuana-Can depress the nervous system, cause vomiting, and changes in the heart rate.

Milk and other dairy products-Some adult dogs and cats may develop diarrhea if given large amounts of dairy products.

Moldy or spoiled food, garbage-Can contain multiple toxins causing vomiting and diarrhea and can also affect other organs.

Mushrooms-Can contain toxins, which may affect multiple systems in the body, cause shock, and result in death.

Onions and garlic (raw, cooked, or powder)-Contain sulfoxides and disulfides, which can damage red blood cells and cause anemia. Cats are more susceptible than dogs. Garlic is less toxic than onions.

Persimmons Seeds-Can cause intestinal obstruction and enteritis.

Pits from peaches and plums-Can cause obstruction of the digestive tract.

Raw eggs-Contain an enzyme called avidin, which decreases the absorption of biotin (a B vitamin). This can lead to skin and hair coat problems. Raw eggs may also contain Salmonella.

Raw meat-May contain bacteria such as Salmonella and E. coli, which can cause vomiting and diarrhea.

Rhubarb leaves-Contain oxalates, which can affect the digestive, nervous, and urinary systems.

Salt-If eaten in large quantities it may lead to electrolyte imbalances.

String-Can become trapped in the digestive system; called a "string foreign body."

Sugary foods-Can lead to obesity, dental problems, and possibly diabetes mellitus.

Table scraps (in large amounts)-Table scraps are not nutritionally balanced. They should never be more than 10% of the diet. Fat should be trimmed from meat; bones should not be fed.

Tobacco-Contains nicotine, which affects the digestive and nervous systems. Can result in rapid heart beat, collapse, coma, and death.

Yeast dough-Can expand and produce gas in the digestive system, causing pain and possible rupture of the stomach or intestines.

Xylitol (artificial sweetener)-Can cause very low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), which can result in vomiting, weakness and collapse. In high doses can cause liver failure.

A dog is like a child. You don't let the child do what he or she wants to do or eat whatever they want to eat, you show them and discipline them and make it your responsibility to keep toxic things out of their reach. Their health is YOUR responibility.

The new “Favorite Things” song sung by Julie Andrews to an AARP audience:

Botox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and hand rails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in string,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Cadillac’s and cataracts, hearing aids and glasses,
polident and Fixodent, and false teeth in glasses,
pacemakers, golf carts, and porches with swings,
these are a few of my favorite things.

When the pipes leak, when the bones creak,
when the knees go bad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
and then I don’t feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,
no spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,
these are a few of my favorite things.

Back pain, confused brains, and no need for sinnin’,
thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinning,
and we won’t mention our short shrunken frames,
when we remember our favorite things.

When the joints ache, when the hips break,
when the eyes grow dim,
then I remember the great life I have had,
and then I don’t feel so bad.

I broke down and bought some new walking shoes....it got embarrassing to hear the sole of my shoe flapping against the bottom of the rest of the shoe. :|

ANYway.....I got a pair of Skechers (yes, that's how it's spelled....that in itself is wiggin' me right out!) and I'm wearing them for the first time today.
I know this is going to sound strange, but they are really triggering my vertigo!! They rock! I mean....not they ROCK rock. But they rock forward and back...like a rocking chair!! I'm not kidding You. It is the strangest sensation! They're very comfy otherwise....I guess I'll get used to the rest of it.

They DO make me taller AND they're sparkly~shiny!! Diva likey... :eyebat:

I am dumbfounded about how easy some things (not material things) come for certain people. "They" say that the harder it is the more you appreciate it, that's bullshit because how can you appreciate something you don't have and probably never will. It's not appreciation, it's envy. And it sucks.

Snow in 49 states due to US Winter Storm according to NWS Weather Forecast

Hawaii included

Posted by Alex Madlangbayan on Jan 13, 2011 in United States, Weather

Having snow in 49 states in the US has happened before but not often, according to a report by the National Weather Service (NWS).The winter storm that hit the US on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, has dumped snow in all but one state. It was unusual that Hawaii has been included in the states covered with snow. Florida is the only state that did not experience winter snow. The (NWS) estimated that 70.9 percent of the country is now covered by snow.

According to James Peronto, NWS public affairs officer, last December 2010, the US had an average of 35 percent of snow on the ground. One of the unusual scenario is the presence of snow in Hawaii. NWS estimated the snow on top of Mauna Kea volcano to be about 7 inches. Hawaii also experienced heavy rains that prompt authorities to issue flash flood warning on Wednesday, January 12, 2011.

The winter storm has shut down majority of the Southern area. It caused heavy traffic and forced the cancellation of flights in the Northwest area due to heavy snowfall.

Earlier reports say that school closures and delays were announced due to the winter storm.
