Well my apologies to the red sox fans. The inevitable yearly blow up has occured. Rays are now only 2 back from the wild card spot with 10 games left. We may just pull it off. I'd really love to see another ALS championship. At this point for me the world series would be wonderful but beating the Yankees is magnificient. |
hello yellow band, thanks for the welcome.
i really think the tigers can do it. i'd like to see it. and leyland always been a favorite. go tigers! |
i'd like to see detroit and milwaukee in the world series.
|
My spouse is the grandchild of someone who played for the Tigers a zillion years ago and is getting us tickets to the playoffs. I'm pretty stoked about that. We'll get tickets to the World Series also if the Tigers make it - so I'm pulling for them.
(Although I am a Jays fan by nature of geography.) |

Hey, the Jays have been doing quite well, too! I don't know if I can stand the giants being back in contention for the play-offs or not- really is torture- they have to keep up the winning streak! Plus, other teams must lose (they have been). On pins and needles. Tomorrow we start the last series vs the Dodgers and Kershaw is pitching. Of course, our "Timmy" is too- but the Dodgers have actually had a good month. |
The tale of two teams continues. The Diamnond backs beat the SuckO's 1 to nothing. At least it wasn't batting practice like they were having at the hands of the Dodgers.
So ATLAST, the mathematicians who crunch baseball numbers seem to think the Giants can win the Division by 1.5 games TODAY, but they are counting on two wins from the SuckO's. (Pirates)....OMG, this is heart attack time in your race. If You're count on the Pirates to be spoilers.... because unless the Braves have a total melt down, they have wild card pretty wrapped up. Whats happening in the AL.....(looking at Google)WOW, I need to be looking at this every day! New York Yankees are 5 games ahead of the Bo Sox We know the Tigers are magnificent, 13 games ahead of Cleveland.... Rangers are 5 up on the Angels (I don't think I ever saw an Angels game) Wild card in the AL is tight/ Bo sox are holding tight for the lead at 88 and 68, Tampa bay right behind them at 85 and 67 they are calling that a 2 game advantage. Tonights games......Pittsburgh (aka SuckO's) vs Tampa Bay, Tampa Bay and the NY Yankees, (mmm that'll be a good game it's on sun sports and My9)@19:05 EST Giants and Toronto, Baltimore and Boston, Atlanta and Marlins....... |
for our american league friends
|
OMG, be still mine beating heart, the Red Sox won a game! :seeingstars:
|
young pitcher for baltimore, only 2nd start. 1st start was not good for him. but a few orioles are hot. boston is going with bedard. he may get pounded.
atlanta's bats are not good at the moment. they face sanchez. i say fla wins. san fran is facing kershaw, dodgers. that will be tough. kershaw will have to have a bad night. morton is on the mound for pittsburgh. the pirates have given him no run support. but they can beat arizona. tampa and new york, that's a toss up. going with tampa lol. i hope atlanta proves me wrong. |
I think its going to be a split on this yankees series. I'd love to say that the rays are going to wipe the clay with the yankees but both are just too good.

Oh- yes, every SF game now is torture- and I have to admit, I wish the Dbacks were playing another team right now!! But, AZ has been playing some very good ball all season really and they have a lot of heart. Lot of talent too. Mainly, I want SF to get in the play offs. I love them, but I don't know if they are WS material this time. Although, they have been playing smart. But so many key players are out with injuries and although the rookies called up plus Keppinger and Beltran have been contributing this month, I don't know if they have the stuff again. Kershaw is having a fine year and is a hell of a pitcher for LA. But he is going up against Lincecum tonight and like most of SF's starters, his win record has been screwed up due to the Giants lack of (and inconsistent) offense. The guy is a two time Cy Young winner. But, it looks like kershaw is in the Cy Young running very strongly in the NL. The kid is only 22!! A lot of poise out there on such a young guy. Actually, I would so love to see him in a SF uniform within a couple of years!! Damn, I wish I could get more of the games of these other teams that all of you like! I hear blurbs on the sports shows about the Jays, BoSox, and the Rays but I wish I could catch a couple of full games. Hell, I usually have insomnia- I could watch at 2-3 am!! But, I will get to see them in the play-offs. I LOVE this time of the year!! Give me October!!! Thanks for the game info- now I gotta go watch my guys.. and hope Lincecum has his stuff. And the bats continue to hit!! |
atlast, you just told it like it is lol. good deal. i hope san fran wins tonight. just about game time!
|
I fell asleep a few minutes after dancing with the stars began....I saw none of the show and heard no baseball scores. Will look everything up as the day goes along. I heard the Pirates won one for your Giants Atlast!
|

But, I see a win tonight and tomorrow. The scrapping, regular guy, no frills, no stars Giants are back!! We shall see, but, my freaks appear to be back! The Dbacks LOST! So did the Braves, but the Cards won. What an end of the season!!! |
Pirates and Diamond backs have an afternoon game (I have my ear pod into the radio right now, just started no score) Sucko's are off tomorrow.
Wait, they are doing a run down of the play off's right now. Ohgeeze, diamond backs have scored already. Well the giants are only going to clench the title if all cards fall correctly by half a game....however, much more wiggle room in the wild card. Atlanta is only holding on by 2.5 now. The cards are coming on very strong. Giants 4.5 out of wildcard. I better peak at AL....that changes every hour it seems NY has the division by 6 over the yankess....no change there. Tigers and Rangers no change..... Wild card looks like this Boston holding the wild card lead by 2 games, Tampa bay behind them, and LA Angels are 3.5 back.......eeeewwww/close! |

Yes, the AL with Boston, TB and LAA is something right now! |
[QUOTE=AtLastHome;421886]I want the BoSox to get with it!! What is going on?? It is hard for me because my AL favorite are the BoSox, but I see Detroit as a good bet to take it all (even if my giants are in it again). Verlander is something- but the whole team is a good balance together. I'm really a NL person, though.
Now, start picking out you outfit. Remember what Kobi taught us. To be a BOSOX fan, you have to wear your rally shirt and hat inside out. Do we have to wear FUR or anything strange to be a TIGER fan? Any team in the NL except the BREWERS. I can not stomache the arrogance. The way the jumped up and down on the bag for a single, rubbing the sucko's noses into how baddly we were. (WE KNEW OK!) And, from watching UTUBES, we are not the only team they did it to. One way to stop that is to beat them. |
chances are the brewers will beat themselves lol. like today, ... cubs win 7-1. but i still likem lol. fielder fan.
lincecum says pray for a miracle. they go up against eveland tonight. he did well against the giants last time out. i'm going with beckett over hunter. boston wins! i really think detroit has the better overall team. great pitching. if they don't win it all, well durn! |

I will root for the BoSox if they are in the playoffs as my AL team. I just think the Tigers have played great ball. YES- Pirates beat the Dbacks!!! And come back with a vengence next year... well, 'cept when they play the Giants..... UGH... the Cards must be stopped! And I like their manager a lot- LaRosa is a good guy- he was such a positive support to his daughter during her date rape case. Plus he is an animal rights activist. We won last night- had good offense for Vogelsong- I love him! His story is great and I am so happy to see him where he is. Win, Giants, WIN!! Go freaks! "The Beard" is back, too! |

My team is out of it, so I'll be able to enjoy the games. They'll all be good games to me. No Nerf bricks getting thrown at the TV lol. |
The BoSox meltdown continues. The Yankees helped us to maintain a 2.5 game lead in the wild card by spanking the Rays. But, the Angels are 2.5 games out as well now. I dont know where the heck the Angels came from. We have 6 games left and basically need to win 5 out of the 6. Oy. We finish on the road with 3 in Yankee Stadium - I suspect this will not be pretty. And 3 in Baltimore who just cleaned the floor with us. It is discouraging to see them have leads only to blow them late in the game. The hitting cant keep pace with the pathetic excuse of a pitching staff. Even the veterans are doing sucky now. Theo Epstein is going to have a lot to answer to for not getting us some quality replacement pitching down the stretch. Francona has been forced to piece together a rotation of youngins from triple AAA and reliever veterans who have been fading the entire second half of the season. Bard, once tried and true, has become a huge liability. I think we have won 6 games in September and given away about 18. Sigh. Even if we manage to find ourselves in the playoffs, I dont think we have the ability to last longer than the first round. I am pleased for the Tigers tho. What a pesky team they have become. Aside from Victor Martinez, is there anyone on that team that is old enough to shave? It would be great to see them in the World Series. I will be rooting for them. |

Haven't followed the Angels since way back when they had disabled (born without one hand fully formed) starting pitcher- Jim Abbott http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Abbott I have always just liked the BoSox in the AL. Hey, Kobe, the Giats were figured way out of eve the wild card just a couple of weeks ago. Ya' nevah' know!! But, yes, they (Re Sox) need to win the rest of their games. I hope today they start to just win!! Nervous about tonight's SF v. LAD game... the Dodger-Giats long time rivalry usually brings ooommph to both teams. Then we are off to AZ v. the Dbacks. That is going to be where our story begins or ends. Whatever- my scrappers have given me a fun last week of "torture." Actually, since AZ is a team o one cares about and never sees as competitive, if they win it all and the Giants don't get in the playoffs, it will be OK. I think AZ can give a good battle for the NL. Yellow- is there a AZ v PIT game today?? If yes- damn it, Pirates, beat them!!! Ad SL has got to start losing!!! |
I want to scream!! Bumgarner did not pitch well tonight- which is so not like him!! But the Cards lost.....
6 games left.... but I see the Braves taking the wild card birth... but, but, but..... Anyone else eating a lot of sunflower seeds lately? |
Quote:
SuckO's come home for the final home stand to play the Reds. Which can help the cards if the reds loose. Also University of Pittsburgh Vs Notre Dame at home Saturday. Wild weekend here! |
the giants have had like 40 million solo homeruns this year.
that tells alot. losing posey was a big blow. sandoval and beltran, great bats. they need folks to get on base. wildcard: tonights games/series ... red sox - vs ny yankees lester/garcia rays - (2 games back) vs bluejays price/morrow angels - (3 games back) vs a's weaver/gonzalez braves - vs nationals hudson/strasburg cardinals - (2) vs cubs carpenter/dempster giants - (4) vs diamondbacks cain/saunders the rays and cardinals might just tie it all up this weekend. or take it over. both of these teams are better than the red sox and braves, in my opinion. atlast, do you eat one sunflower seed at a time, or a hand full in the mouth and a cup? lol |

The Pirates do a anti *Chew* PSA (public service announcement) on the scoreboard during pregame warm ups. I know years ago, they banned smoking in the dug outs. I always giggle when I see my beloved Jim Leyland hiding in a dug out getting in a few drags. I also no longer see the mail pouch wad in the cheek...They still spit constantly (maybe they're using bandits). Was/has smokeless tobacco been banned from on field? |
i don't know how they chew/dip, ... makes me sick to smell of it lol.
ryan ludwick, josh hamilton, coach bruce bochy ... to name of a few. unless they've quit here recently. you know tony gwynn says tobacco caused his cancer. some players say it helps them focus ... a stimulant. |
There has been a light and steady rain since around noon. I bet unless there is lightning, no games will be rain delayed. We have 3 homes games
with the reds and that wraps up the season at home. Pitt and Notre Dame and the Pirates tomorrow. The stadiums are side by side. Steve MIller band is the grand finale. |

Posey and Freddie Sanchez, plus Sherholtz being out has really messed us up- even with getting Beltrans and Keppinger. Speaking of Keppinger- he has not done much for us at all, I think. Would not care if he isn't in a SF uni next year. I think both Crawford & Belt will become more consistent hitters and getting on base as they play- I see talent with them. But they both are just not there now. Although, Belt has done some good stuff. Players like Huff and Ross have been stranded so much. And I wish Sandoval would not be so into home run hitting- just get on or move a base runner!! So frustrating- damn frustrating! I want them in the play offs, but what you are talking about is what would most likely take them out in the first round. LOL- I eat them (sunflower seeds) one at a time. So weird, I don't eat them very often, but find I am doing so a lot right now! Hey, when the hell did Frito Lay become the official MLB seeds!! I don't know if I am looking foreward to the start of our last games with AZ- it could be ugly.... and I honestly think our entire bullpen is tired. WOW, have to say Kemp of the Dodgers smacked the hell out of us during our series. That guy is something. I kind of liked seeing old Tommy Lasorda in the dugout for his 84th BD last night. Crazy old codger!! |

I'm a lifelong Tigers fan. Can't wait for the playoffs! |
And, mark my words....Kansas City Royals will be in the playoffs within the next three years. Their rookies and prospects are phenomenal.
|
Thank you to my hard core baseball fans!!! I love reading your updates, thoughts, frustrations and mental musings regarding tobacco/chewing/smoking/seeds/pitchers/hitters. It makes me feel like I too have watched the games!!! Oh and Love Josh Hamilton, he reminds me of my favortist nephew... (I know no favorites in family, but...)
I am going to get a game in on Sunday... and if I am REALLY REALLY lucky, maybe two... hold me back I am getting dangerous!!! :canadian: |
Tonights BoSox-Yanks game has been postponed due to weather. They will play a day-night doubleheader on Sunday instead. Gotta love the drama eh? LOL. |
I'm happy with the teams that are in so far- I am looking foreward to Detroit's play off games. Even if my scappers don't make it. I think AZ might give them some trouble if they end up doing battle for the NL WS contender, however. Have to see. The play offs can hold many suprises!! Last year there was a lot of folks that didn't believe my freaks would take it all.
Geez, the AL is full of some battles!! Hope I catch an AL game this weekend- BoSox. OK, SF, tonight is critcal.... math/time is not on your side. Go freaks, GO!! |
Watched the Yankees win their division. I would love to see the Phillies and the Yankees in the world series!!! :praying:

Note to BH. I was thinking of you tonight. The rain stopped at 5 P.m. and the game went, it was a perfect night for a great game of base ball. Wished you were here. Lots of red shirts here.... |
