<<~ It's a chilly day here today and I'm waiting on a batch of bread to rise, so I can bake it off later this afternoon.

Right now, though, I'm actually roasting some vegetables (brussel sprouts, carrots and parsnips with almonds): I wash them up and dry them off and then I dress them lightly in a rosemaried Olive Oil and sea salt and they're roasting in the oven @ 425 degrees. Can hardly wait to eat them (especially the fresh baked bread).

~>> feels quiet today, but that's mostly because I spoke with my youngest brother by phone earlier.... which our conversation took me back to 1997 when I was waiting for him at the Union Pacific train station downtown and he was coming 'home' to stay with me for awhile... The train station newspapers where plastered with the tragic accident that Princess Diana died in... I saved the New York Times from the day. It's funny how a song or a major event connected with someone you love with all your heart will come back to you, as if it happened yesterday.

<<~ It's quiet at my house tonight: Eddie's gone for the moment to his union class; I'm working on preparations for meetings tomorrow and listening to a playlist of songs by David Gray.... I find him soothing to listen to, when I have a lot on my mind late at night.

And we have to go to the store for some necessities....cuz we had a lazy morning.....along with some drama.....but that's figured out....

Teddy is making a nummy dinner for us.....and I am craving tater tots :| Dunno how he will incorporate that into the dinner..... :seeingstars:

We are moving south y'all! It's been decided by the fates and the weather....

Looking forward to being a southern country girl again.....sweet tea and boiled peanuts..... Life doesn't get any better than that!! <3 <3

I have come out of hiding. I am back at the home base for few days break from Mama. I am ready for Winter Storm Athena and gonna have a few drinks with my best gay boyfriend. Maybe we will go get some Thai curry, too.

<<~ I'm making a delicious soup tonight for supper: a Potato Ginger soup.

I carmelize some sweet onions, celery and finely chopped portions of ginger root first; then I add potatos (baby reds) that I have cut in half and let them braize a bit in the carmelized mixture.... then I add about a quart or two of water and let the potatos cook until they are tender; which by that time, I make a roux of milk, heavy cream and rice flour (I shake it up in a glass jar so it's smooth and creamy) and add it to the soup base. I season the soup with bit of sea salt, cracked pepper and a bit of garlic powder and let it simmer into a very thick soup.

I'm also baking some bread rolls (oversized) to go with our soup for supper tonight (garlic & rosemary with shredded mozarella cheeze). I always like how bread and soup makes the house smell so warm and comfy. :stillheart:

<<~~ I'm making Bread (Cinnamon Rolls), and soup:

I'm making a Broccoli, Kale, Leek, Cheddar cheese soup today.

I start with sauteeing leeks in butter, until their carmelized a bit; then I add freshly chopped kale and small buds of broccoli and about a quart or two of spring water and let it come to a gentle rolling boil. Then I make a roux of cream, rice flour and pinch or two or sea salt and cracked pepper (I shake it up in a glass jar, until it's creamy smooth), and add it to the water based vegetable broth. After I do that, I turn the heat down to a simmering level of heat and let the soup meld for about an hour or so. When I get ready to serve it, I sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top of each serving. (That's what my son and I are having for lunch today).

For supper: The Cinnamon Rolls should be done by then.

(Supper of Champions! - because we skipped breakfast today)

Right now, I'm getting ready to make a second cup of coffee.

<<~~ Today is my youngest son's birthday (Mr. Ed). He's been a bit depressed lately as when I performed calculations on his latest income tax papers, we found out that he inadvertantly did not fill out his w4's correctly... he's got it covered (and then some), but he's in bed right now and I am quietly plotting his birthday party, for this evening. :)

He's my 'Valentines' boy :stillheart:

He doesn't know it yet, but his very bestest friend from school days and pals of his will be coming to his party tonight. This should make his day, I'm quite sure! :)

I really need to go to the store and the gym, but sex and the city is sucking me in!!! Only one more episode, and then in outta here!

<<~ I've been working on making fish taco's for supper tonight. I have two large fillets of Cod broiling in the oven and I have soft flour tortillas that I have been grilling and keeping on the bottom rack of the oven, so they stay warm until I have other items prepared. I thought I could dress the Cod in fresh lime juice (when it's finished with begin broiled), plus I sliced up a large avocado that a neighbor gave to me the other day - they just got back from visiting family in Mexico. I also made a nice bed of baby lettuce leaves to put inside the tacos, too, as well as having a little dish of mild green sauce with cilantro and sour cream.

<<~ Has been hanging out in my kitchen today, tending to a batch of bread and roasting a rack of ribs (marinated in Jack Daniels and smoothered in a honey base BBQ sauce).

I also have some vegetables I'm going to roast to go with the Ribs for supper tonight: I dressed some brussel sprouts and baby red potatos in a rosemary Olive oil and lightly seasoned them with sea salt and cracked pepper corns.
