Lights such as love require more faith than fuel.
Of all leaps, the most dangerous is into the mind of your lover.
Regarding miracles: What is less explicable than
Remaining in love through the long icy anguish of anger?
All lovers long for freedom only slightly less than they fear it.
In the end, love burns not desire but fear.
Not one of us would be capable of keeping the fire burning
Except for the knowledge that it is the sweetest, best, and most
beautiful thing in our lives.

Dimitri Shostakovich

I have a button that says this.

"Everything happens for a reason, and the reason is God needs a good laugh."

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

"To me, horror is when I see somebody lying. I mean a person I know. A friend. And he's telling me something that I accept. And then suddenly, as he or she is telling it, there's something that gives them away. They're not telling me the truth."(f)

"Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as “crazy,” we see genius. Because the people who are “crazy” enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do." —Jack Kerouac

"The butch/femme dynamic is a conscious, loving binary of desire and trust; it's a dance of love and outlawed romance. Butches and femmes share a sense of tribe, extended family, and kinship--no matter what our genders might be." Auntie Kate! (Kate Bornstein)

"When we define ourselves, when I define myself, the place in which I am like you and the place in which I am not like you, I'm not excluding you from the joining--I'm broadening the joining."

My new fave femme... & Ivan Coyote's 'better' half!

"In choosing to look the way I do, I experience a privileged sort of femme invisibility, one that enables me to move through the straight world with relative ease...it seems to me that how femmes experience and respond to this kind of invisibility is as diverse as the range of femme identities. The corollary of femme invisibility is what I think of as strategic visibility, those moments in which we choose to out ourselves. Femmes are chameleons, able to blend in or stand up by standing out. We know when to make our colours burn bright for our chosen mates or as a way to disrupt someone's expectations about what a queer person looks like and when to match the wallpaper." The incredibly fabulous ZENA SHARMAN

Riding in Your Sidekick

I slide my hand along your thighs
my fingers thrill
to the line of your boxers
under your levis
Suddenly you're standing beside me
near our bed
your T-shirt & boxers wet
with my cunt juice
& your delicious
I-got-what-I-wanted
grin
your hand patting my ass
which still
shivers

Candle Hat

In most self-portraits it is the face that dominates:
Cezanne is a pair of eyes swimming in brushstrokes,
Van Gogh stares out of a halo of swirling darkness,
Rembrant looks relieved as if he were taking a breather
from painting The Blinding of Sampson.

But in this one Goya stands well back from the mirror
and is seen posed in the clutter of his studio
addressing a canvas tilted back on a tall easel.

He appears to be smiling out at us as if he knew
we would be amused by the extraordinary hat on his head
which is fitted around the brim with candle holders,
a device that allowed him to work into the night.

You can only wonder what it would be like
to be wearing such a chandelier on your head
as if you were a walking dining room or concert hall.

But once you see this hat there is no need to read
any biography of Goya or to memorize his dates.

To understand Goya you only have to imagine him
lighting the candles one by one, then placing
the hat on his head, ready for a night of work.

Imagine him surprising his wife with his new invention,
the laughing like a birthday cake when she saw the glow.

Imagine him flickering through the rooms of his house
with all the shadows flying across the walls.

Imagine a lost traveler knocking on his door
one dark night in the hill country of Spain.
"Come in, " he would say, "I was just painting myself,"
as he stood in the doorway holding up the wand of a brush,
illuminated in the blaze of his famous candle hat.

Sacred Words Of Motherhood

I've carried children within my body. Slept with babies on my chest. I've kissed boo boos & mended broken hearts. I've been puked on, peed on, pooped on & spent sleepless nights in the rocking chair.
