On October 20, 2010 - it has been decided that we will wear purple in honor of those six boys who have committed suicide in recent weeks/months due to homophobic abuse in their homes and schools. Purple represents the LGBTQ flag - and that is what everyone should have with them - spirit.

Yes! And I have a candle for them, too. I also want light to shine on this communtity. This website is a life line to many and I keep reminding myself of this. And a website such as this is no easy task to administer or moderate. Not eveyone agrees all of the time... which is just plain human.

I am lighting a candle for It Gets Better and the very special young people we have lost due to bigotry and hate. We really do have an obligation as a community to reach out, set good examples and try to show that hanging on will bring many, many good things.

This very website can do this. To be honest, with these suicides, I am much more aware of how important it is to post truth and hope here.

I light a candle for my sister, Dolo (Dolores). She called, and after some pleasantry, informed me that in addition to her cough, she is short of breath. Although I urged her to call her doc and ask for an x-ray, or at least listen to her lungs, and she agreed to do so, I have the sense that she did not follow through. I couldn't reach her today. I called my niece, who said she spoke with her mom yesterday. Dolo did not mention her shortness of breath or an x-ray. Just said she was tired. I'm not sure if the brain metastasis messes with her memory now. I don't know if she's starting to give up, if she's depressed because her oncologist is leaving in two months ... it may be all of these things. I pray for her spirit mostly. That she continue to tread the waters that burst over her.

My oldest and dearest friend, who was hospitalized with a hospital acquired sepsis and pneumonia following a routine procedure (angiogram), developed an infectious diarrhea ... c. deficile for you medical folks ...from the antibiotics. Her bronchoscopy was negative for cancer, only showing evidence of the bacterial infection of her lungs. Her daughter and I, with my friend, decided that it was better to try and rehab at home ... before hospitalization killed her. She's doing just fine, thanks.

Thanks to all for prayers, light, candles. Many thanks for the PMs and emails. You have sustained me and given me strength. I can breath this in, this love, support and care, and be strong for my loved ones.

He is out of surgery and th road ahead is a hard one.
Thank you so much for the candles and energy for him.
And I ask to continue till he is on the mend.

Keep lighting candles for my sister and her stresses as an Alzheimer's care-giver for her husband. He has been declining significantly as of late. I hear the hurt in her voice when we talk on the phone. The grieving for the real person she has spent over 40 years with.

I am thankful, however, that they do have good health insurance and both had good retirement pensions. To have this to deal with and not have these resources has just got to be horrible and many, many people are in that position. So, although I am sad, I know other people have it far worse. That would hurt far more.

On behalf of our family I would like to say thank you for all the energy,candles and prayers.

Lil Kaison is now home and will have his casts removed in 3 months. His pain is still not under controle real well but that is being worked on.

His hip is dislocated and two club feet they are trying to fix..alteast this surgery..he has many more.

He got a new car seat for his lil casts...smiles
