I agree that we need to allow for family time, travel, holidays, etc.

This idea has promise.

Since you're thinking about around V Day, what about if we leech off of Besame's thread and make it a *Hearts* theme? That leaves it open to interpretation, people can get inspiration from the thread and love and friendship could fit in that too.

These are some good ideas being bounced, y'all! Any more?

candy_coated_bitch 12-08-2017 12:29 PM

I like the hearts theme. Should we leave it open as far as medium, size, etc. What about twinchies? We've done inchie size and ATC'S. Dont know if the size would feel too restrictive for some.

I also agree a January deadline is a bit too soon for me.

GeorgiaMa'am, the Gallery Glass is working perfectly on all the small bits of glass I have for my shadow boxes. Thank you so much!

nycfem 12-08-2017 01:07 PM

Maybe people could choose between inches and Twinchies?

Georgia or CCB, do you mind describing the specifics of how to work with gallery glass?

I just used it like glue. I put it on the back of a flat glass flower and just stuck it down. And it's already STUCK even though it says it takes eight hours to dry. Same with the morphine bottle. It has other uses, like the stained glass or fixing cracks in glass or mirrors. But I'm using it exactly like a glue and it's working so far.

To clarify what I meant was maybe each person could choose between making an inchie or twinchie or some combination.

Lyte 12-08-2017 03:17 PM

Umm... what's twinchies? What's ATC?

I'm afraid I'm still more Butch than I am crafty! :p

Like, like, like, like, like - let's do it!

P.S. Twists thicken the plot and are good too :)

SECRETS!!!! I got my package today and tore right into it. Everyone did such a great job!! I loved all the cards and the secrets. It was a total joy to open. Thank you to everyone for your hard work!

To use it for stained glass, you probably want some kind of raised border - like the frame of a window, or something you make with the Gallery Glass leading. But you don't have to have a border. Then you just cut the bottle of Gallery Glass open so it has a small opening in the tip, turn the bottle upside down, and swirl it around on the glass. You can do it on something lying flat, but you can also use it on something vertical, like a window. Don't shake the bottle, as that will make air bubbles, and you want to avoid air bubbles. And if you don't like it, just peel it off the glass like a window cling once it's dry! (Go ahead, just try some on your bathroom mirror! Have fun!)

FireSignFemme 12-09-2017 12:24 AM

I like the idea of a thoughts about love and/or general friendship art theme as opposed to narrowing it down to just one thing – hearts. However if that's what group will, consensus is, I can go with it.

FireSignFemme 12-09-2017 01:07 AM

Oh an ATC (art trading card) is a work space for art smaller than a post card but bigger than a twinchie (tiny work space) or inchie (itsy bitsy work space). Just type them into google seach, hit images and you'll see examples, be able to tell the difference.

ATC = artist trading card

Inchie = a 1 inch by 1 inch work of miniature art

Twinchie = a 2 inch by 2 inch work of less miniature art

:cheesy:

These are great because you don't have to create the Mona Lisa. It's usually focused on one thing. It can be as simple as a flower or even be abstract.

Here are some examples of Twinchies and Inchies.

I also received my package and opened it this morning. Soooo fun and creative, everyone!

If we split the difference and just make the topic "LOVE", then those who like the heart theme can work with that and those who like the "Love and Friendship" theme can go with that too.

Problem solved!

I'm digging the miniature/small idea too. Sometimes I get overwhelmed when I try to fill in a large space and then replicate it x number of times. The minis seem to come easier to me.

I think making the theme Love is a good idea. It's open to many interpretations, including hearts, or anything else love and friendship means to you.

I also concur that a like a smaller size. I feel like it's easier to create a bite size and replicate it many times if a lot of people join. Plus I feel like I am forced to be even more creative with a smaller size!

Bèsame* 12-09-2017 08:07 AM

I love the LOVE theme. I would like to see maybe a series of 3 if we go as small as twinchies. I feel that's easy and I like a challenge.

There are lots of ideas on the "Heart" thread to gather ideas.

As I read in some of the previous posts, some didn't really follow the perimeters and did what they wanted..so it's a free for all?

It's not supposed to be. What's the purpose of rules if they aren't followed? Of course, I'm a toe the line kind of person when it comes to guidelines and stuff like this so that's my natural bias. There's not really much a wrangler can do if the projects come and they aren't what they are supposed to be unless it's brought up later, when those folks want to sign up for another round.

I think a series would depend heavily on how many people sign up. If it's 10 or less, I'm all for it. I feel that's entirely feasible, even for new recruits.

Have we decided who's going to steer this boat yet? I would prefer someone who hasn't done the last 2-3 rounds so we can get some diversity in 'management'. Any takers?

candy_coated_bitch 12-09-2017 01:43 PM

I agree projects should not be a free for all, and people should follow the concept and rules as closely as possible. I did my time when I didn't.

For example love is a very broad concept, but if we decided on say twinchies, if someone turns in a 5 X 7 piece it's just annoying to me. I am a toe the line person with projects too.

Lyte 12-09-2017 01:59 PM

Thanks for the definitions y'all re twinchies vs Inchies! This must be a sign because I was just cleaning out a closest and came across my collection of TINY books from the 90s! They're still super cute! So... yeah... I'm game for this project! ;)

When y'all say a "series" ... do you mean like a set of two or three pieces per person? If so, I'm cool with that... but I also agree it would depend on how many participate.

Since they're going to be small... wouldn't that make displaying them kinda difficult? Maybe... not so difficult if ... let's say.. they were magnets!? Am I getting carried away? :p

Yes, to your definition of series. No, to having to display them. You can send the pieces individually and let the recipient figure out what they want to do with them. On the other hand, it's not an issue if you do. I can't imagine any wrangler would require them to be mounted.

FireSignFemme 12-09-2017 09:33 PM

I think commit to one required of everyone, and if some participants choose to make theirs a series then those in the series beyond one could be counted as, considered extras?

candy_coated_bitch 12-10-2017 04:33 AM

I personally dont like committing to a series, especially not knowing how many are signing up. For me, three pieces each is a lot, even if we get. This past round we had twelve participants. There's no way I can make 36 twinchies. If this were to be a series of pieces I wouldn't sign up.

Just my opinion.

I agree! Sounds like we just need someone who hasn’t wrangled for the past few projects now.

nycfem 12-10-2017 11:22 AM

CCB is right that we have never done twinchies, how about one twinchie per person who signs up based on Nanners' theme and those who wish to make extra are more than welcome and appreciated?

Lyte 12-10-2017 12:27 PM

I second this motion. :)

Actually we have done twinchies. I wrangled it last spring, the theme was seasons. See post 6167.

But I love twinchies!! I can't wait to do them again, I like the theme a lot!

Who feels like they want to wrangle this one? If you've never wrangled before, the ones who have wrangled before can coach you along as to the things you need to do to be the wrangler.

Lyte 12-10-2017 07:34 PM

I'm your huckleberry. :fastdraq:

Translation...

Sure, I'll give this wrangler thang a go! :koolaid:

Excellent! You've participated in enough rounds to know how things generally go but if you have any questions, just ask.

Get your details in order and make sure to post them with all the deadlines, etc. Have fun with it!

I look forward to participating in this round.

Lyte 12-11-2017 11:35 AM

Okie dokie y'all ... so before I lay down Wrangler Law :p are we in agreement on the following...

Theme: Love ... in whatever form or fashion you'd like to express it

Size: Twinchies - 2 inches by 2 inches ... slight variance is permissible

Quantity: One per person ... more per person if you're feeling froggie

Due Date: We didn't exactly decided on a date ... what say to Feb 7th? I'm thinking that would give participants time to recoup from the holidays and give me time to send them out prior to Valentines Day.

Postage/Packaging for Wrangler: Is $5.00 per participant the norm?

Have I forgotten anything?

Is Feb. 7th your first deadline or the absolute deadline? Remember that we have a week from the initial deadline to get the projects to you without any time outs. Also remember to post the time out reminder at bottom of your final post (when you start the participants list).

$5 is standard, indeed.

Typically.....which you may or may not be/do....the wrangler will send the completed packages out within a week of the final deadline, so usually we have 3 dates. Kind of like when your mom starts to count when you're doing something....or not doing something....

1......when you would prefer they get to you

2......when they absolutely MUST be in your greedy little hands or suffer the consequences

3......when you will have them out by to us

If you have any quirky preferences, don't forget to list them. If you don't want a certain color or, in opposition, if you require a particular color to be used in some capacity. If you want them mounted somehow or if you don't want unsealed glitter, etc. Let us know or forever hold your peace.

:praying:

nanners 12-11-2017 07:34 PM

Lyte,
Also, Start a sign up list when you first post your requirements, and have a time period for people to sign up, and when your deadline arrives, post that the sign up is closed and post the final list, and let us now how may we have to make of the Twinchies, and your requirements again with the dates that are important.

Lyte 12-11-2017 08:58 PM

Thanks for feedback y'all! I will update everything tomorrow... when I'm in front of a keyboard. I hate long hairy texting! I've only my cell at home.

I estimate people could start signing up tomorrow night! :koolaid:

Lyte 12-11-2017 10:36 PM

Today I received an envelpoe chock full of the neatest "secret" postcards! Thanks y'all! :)

Lyte 12-12-2017 01:33 PM

I stole a few bits 'n' pieces from our previous Wrangler! ;)

Alright y'all, lemme know if I've missed anything and/or if anything is unclear. If it's sufficient then let's start signing up!

New project (Everyone welcome, you do NOT need any artistic ability, just be reliable and enthusiastic - that's what we care about)

Theme: Love ... in whatever form or fashion you'd like to express it... friends... family... animals... romance... flowers... etc... etc... whatever moves you!

Size: Twinchies - 2 inches by 2 inches ... slight variance is permissible..

Material: Again... whatever moves you!

Quantity: One per person ... more per person if you're feeling froggie

Dates: I'd like to have projects by ... Friday, Feb 2nd. Projects must be in my hands by... Wednesday, Feb 7th. After this date, your project may become a cat toy and you will not receive any of the items others have made for you. And ... you also won't be able to participate again for 6 months. I'll have everything mailed out by ... Saturday, Feb 10th

Postage/Packaging: Please include 5$ with your project for my mailing costs. Do NOT send me a package that requires signature upon delivery.

Wrangler Quirks: Please don't send me anything from a smoking home, perfumy, or with unsealed glitter.

Misc: If you want your twinchies (e.g. one or more are unique) to go to a specific person, please be sure to write the name of that person on the paper/plastic in which you've wrapped your twinchies. e.g: "Send to .... "

Sign Up Closes: One week from today, Tuesday, Dec 19th
