i work with this guy who i find a bit odd
he's the friendliest guy but he doesn't get my sense of humor so i'm sure he thinks i am a bit odd today he was telling me about a piece of jewelry he bought for his girlfriend he described it as his girlfriend's name made into a custom jeweled necklace and it came with a stuffed bear to gift it in. he told me his girlfriend's mother and sister complimented him on his selection and said they had never seen anything sparkle as much. he told me it was the most expensive piece of jewelry he had ever bought for a woman i said "oh yeah - because of the bear" he looked at me like i was out of my mind and said with all seriousness "no - because of all the jewels" |
Good discussion with my boss today on a possible vacancy within the company I might be able to fill. Also, a great lead on a position I'm qualified at a local university and my boss is going to give them a glowing recommendation if they all. So yay for the Universe opening some windows :)

that I was able to sub on the gay boys bowling league tonight!! what a blast!!! they are so much fun and I even got invited back for next week if they're short again! Yippieeeee!! LOL

making a birthday dinner of Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches and Oven-baked Sweet Potato Chips, with Carrot Cake, and also a Caramel Apple Cake, all homemade. All for my daughter's 42nd birthday. Haven't been able to spend a birthday with her for about 15 yrs.
I was sitting on the couch afterwards, watching several of the grandkids gathered around the kitchen table, working on some art project, and I realized just how blessed I am right now, being up here amongst them. Yeah, this is why I moved back. |
I came home carrying a 14 pound box of MilkBones. The impish delight on my dogs' faces when they saw the box made me grin huge. They are the loves of my life! I am nuts about Kelly and Kevin. Love me, love my dogs. Some things are non-negotiable. :)

While waiting in line at the store this morning, I was watching the prettiest little 5 year old ahead of me, waiting impatiently with her mom to buy her chocolate milk. She was wearing a beautiful red holiday dress, long hair in mounds of curls. I looked down at her shoes... rhinestone covered little mary janes. I said, "your shoes are so pretty". She smiled, said thank you, and then twirled around circles so I could admire her dress, too :)

I turned in my resignation over a week ago and no one has even acknowledged that they received it..until this morning... I was pulled in the Sheriff's office, personally thanked by him and the chief for my service on the force. I was asked to turn in my firearm and taser...and I am now "in transition". Which means after tomorrow I will no longer work inmate housing areas..and my last week here I will be in civilian clothes and working Receiving.
I feel nekkid...but its a good feeling :) I'm ready to start my new life :) |
Watching my doggie learn how to ride a wave in to shore after going waaaay out to retrieve his tennis ball. And the (ocean) wet dog smell. :)

What made me smile today...
I was standing outside today when a set of grandparent walked by holding their 10 month old grandbaby. When she looked at me, she gave me the biggest chubby cheek grin ever...that made me feel so good. :D

Having a wonderful evening with my beautiful wife decorating the Christmas tree, putting the train around the tree and watching her dance to snappy Christmas songs in the process, lol. What a great evening!

Receiving a long email from my friend in Texas and my close friend and I chatting and laughing loudly on the phone.
The handle falling off my suitcase - I just stood there with it in my hand whilst starring at it.......it may have been telling me it's had enough of travelling and wants to retire, lol! |

Starting my day with an hour long walk with Willy Bear all around Peaceful Pond, with so many trails through the woods that I never needed to leave the property. Just a beautiful, slow walk and bird watching in fresh, clean air. Taking a break by the water, sitting in the john boat with Willy while the birds were busy collecting breakfast. Watching Willy having fun on his walk, getting his feet all muddy. .......then having a very delightful breakfast of pecan blueberry pancakes......I had lots of smiles when I was unpacking my kitchen stuff and favorite knickknacks. .... I shared smiles when I took 3 bags of groceries to a family in need. ....I had more smiles when I watched Willy play hard and goofy in our new livingroom, with his feet slipping on the slick floor....now my belly is happy after Blade made an awesome dinner of BBQ wings and salad. Now, as I'm ready to take another load over to new place... my body isn't smiling but I am after a very productive day!

:hk2: I took my 12 yo, very shy, Siamese foster cat to her new permanent home with a wonderful woman who already has another 12 yo Siamese. My foster kitty will finally have the kitty companion she so desperately wants. It's exactly the home I have been waiting for. I am so very happy for her (although I cried a little.)
