Rolling out my sleeping bag and trying to make friends with my fellow crafters. Anyone want to go in on a pizza while we wait?

I am waiting too. I need to make sure that the crafting project is in my wheelhouse before I can commit.

I have been doing this since the dash site and I have stepped back due to my irritation with drop outs and delays. While I try to be civil about it, it just gets to the point of why deal with it.
I have to say that when I saw Pixie wants to wrangle, it got my attention. I still have some of her art hanging in my craft room. And I would sign up not knowing the project and i will be participating this round.

Hugs and Kisses
Love and bubbles
and all the stuff

laruss 08-01-2013 01:49 PM

Maybe Pixie can let us know what it is and then we can start signing up next week. Pixie?

So, this was my morning. I am putting all the ATC's into packages, determining which ones go to who and who sent what so I don't send them theirs back (or do if they wanted them returned) and I do mine last. I had put them in the envelope with Jennifer's so I wouldn't lose them. So, I am laying them out and I realize they are not signed, weird I was sure I had signed them. Then I realize they don't all have the metal leaf I had added. Well I know I put metal leaf on ALL of them. Then I realize there is not enough!! What the heck??

I then realize these were the ones I had left over, so where are the ones I made for the project?? I start searching, I start pulling cupboards apart. I only keep finished art in a couple of places. I searched and I searched until I ran out of time. I had to go to work. Now I am sitting here wracking my brain trying to figure out what I did with them.

I know they are there, there is no where for them to have gone. I have put them somewhere safe?? Tomorrow is my day in the studio and I was planning to send them tomorrow, which I am sure will still happen. I should know better then to put things in a "safe" place. Where would I put unfinished work? Which is actually my finished work this time.

How do these things happen to me? I know... to much to do and to little space to do it.

If it makes you feel any better I am famous for finding "stocking stuffer" gifts that I forgot where I had hidden them months (and even years) later. I recently ran across a little stuffed Barney I was going to have Santa leave my daughter one year. Too bad she is almost 11 now.....

Katniss~~(humming a tune while waiting on Pixie....)

candy_coated_bitch 08-01-2013 03:08 PM

Aw, laruss. I do that stuff all the time! I actually just spent an hour tearing apart my room looking for a mail art envelope I made and cannot find ANYWHERE.

@Katniss, my mom is famous for giving me stocking stuffer gifts she then finds throughout the year. It's kind of fun, actually LOL.

And yes--Pixie!!! You dropped a bomb on us and we can't wait to hear what you have up your sleeve. :P

PS: To those ATC project participants who have NOT given me your address please do so. This includes Gemme, Maryam, Bleu, justanolecowboy, wryly. I think some of you dropped off the face of the earth but I DO have cards for you!

Tommi 08-01-2013 03:16 PM

Maybe they did. Maybe it is flat.:)

Hi everyone!!!!

I didn't mean to let everyone hanging, I just didn't have enough time to go researching back to see if anyone had claimed the wrangling position...and have been working 14 hr days since I posted....so please forgive my tardiness.

I am honored that you are all so interested in my idea. It was actually inspired by the conversation here on drop outs, sign ups, wrangling, forgiveness, and life.

I was thinking of a Mentor Moment. Here you can do whatever you like (reasonable enough to mail) where you take a moment and give advice. This is not a lecture but your expression from something you would have liked advice or mentoring before you had began. So you can take this opportunity and share your experience and let your voice be heard. These mentor moments can be written or visually expressed.

What I would like your input on is if you would like to do this as one piece and have one specific person it goes to, or if you would like to do multiples so that each person receives each one....

What do y'all think?

*ps... I hope this doesn't sound dumb or boring....I have really been an advocate for validation lately and truly feel the inspiration and heart that lies in being witnessed and accepted*

They have been found and assigned to each person, I just have to address the envelopes and I will walk over to the post office tomorrow and mail them. YAY!!

Wow, this is a brain one. I want in, I just have to think about what/how to do what is in my head.

This is a really good one to have people sit on for a few days before signing up to really make sure they are committed.

Looking forward to figuring this one out.

I think it sounds like a great idea! My thought is to send to one person, or a limited number of people. Obviously, I would go with what the group thinks or if it seems too much not sign up.

For me, making 15 ATC's was HARD. I've been in swaps before where people sign up but we get assigned only a certain number of partners. Say, three. even though more than that sign up. Not sure if that's too complicated. But just my preference, for the record. :)

laruss 08-02-2013 07:31 AM

I just found this group on FaceBook and I am in love with the idea. I thought I would share it here as it is a great way to share the love while getting rid of extra pieces we have from here when people drop out.

Art Abandonment
I follow Michael DeMeng on FaceBook already and I am not sure how I did not know about this project, but I think it is amazing and when you read the stories I think you will agree.

You leave pieces of art all over for people to find, there are tags you can download and print. When people find them they have your email address and they can contact you. Some may not, but just the idea of making someone smile when they find it is worth it to me.

Anyway I thought I would share because it may help us to not be so upset when we have leftovers. Now we have a great way to share them.

I am starting today.

Someone does that here in Albuquerque-- its called 'Free Art Friday' -- some of the stuff is pretty neat. Some are pieces that are left behind and some are new pieces made. She leaves them around town and drops hints of where they are and people use the clues to find them. Its kind of fun, actually.

I would have to agree-- when its a larger crowd, its sometimes harder to do more than 10. Especially if you are the person who is the type of person who is more elaborate in your art. I wouldn't mind doing up to 3.

Good idea, CCB.

I absolutely love this idea! And, I am willing to do this for multiple people. I do not have a limit here. This is very easy and very inexpensive so maybe a group for people who wish to exchange one on one and a group for multiples; either way, I am good.

Maybe because I have done almost all of them I am signing up. No matter what they were, or who wrangled them since Gemme started the thread. If it is something I have never done, then I want to explore and experience it. (Which has happened to me several times..making jewelry, and ami's project of creating something from what she sent to us all) So, long and short of it, it's for fun..

If you look back to the 2010 or 2011, there has usually been a month or so for sign ups, and since it is something we all look forward to, some of us jump in...It's all good fun.

You know, I still have the magnet you made for me a few years ago. It's still beautiful and green and GLITTERY, which is what is truly important.

As awesome as Pixie's project sounds, I will not be signing up for it. I have Reunion and a move between now and next month and I know the limits of my attention span and my free time. Not happening. I know some lovely things will be created though.

Sorry CCB for my lack of response. I just got back on the site after being without a computer for about a week. I'll send you my addy tonight.

candy_coated_bitch 08-05-2013 03:05 PM

Just as an update, ATC cards have been mailed personally to the following:

-laruss
-nycfem
-Gemme
-Tommi
-nanners (also sent reunion card)
-sis
-LaneyDoll
-pixie
-Katniss
-deb0670

Thank you SO much to those who have responded and Gemme, no worries about however long it took you to get back to me. I just want these cards to get to their rightful owners.

Still waiting on:

-wryly
-justanolecowboy
-Bleu
-Maryam

(I'm pretty sure some of them fell off the square earth box Tommi posted LOL)

Also, still looking forward to hearing the finer details of the next project so I can decide whether or not to sign up. :)
