he is going to see a specialists / vet that can do surgery on his leg.

if he doesnt have the surgery, he will be putting so much pressure on his other leg, that in a short time that leg will get so much arthritis that it wont be able to handle the pressure of supporting him and then both legs will require surgery.

of course, if this surgery he needs for the one that is hurt now, if it requires a lot of money....there wont be another option

i just dont know what else to say.... need your support , thoughts...etc etc

Poor little fella! Subluxated patellas are so scary and that he hurt his hip and torn ligaments too? I'm so sorry for you both. Sending love to you both.

Harley Update

here is what Harley's vet said today. The reason why the emergency vet said his knee is dislocated / broke it's because it isnt but it is the typical issue small dogs have with their knees. It moves around, ( and most dogs it wont swivel like his does ) and that is why the EV said that. his hip, yeah, its gonna be sore, but he pulled a muscle. his ligament in his knee...yes, that is torn. and for right now ( it's almost as what i would call a sprain ) let's see if it heals on its own. he will develop arthritis, but he would of anyway with his age, but now more now since he has this injury. after 2 weeks, if he isnt doing / healing like the vet would like to see, then yes, surgery then.

i then asked the vet , how much would that surgery cost. the vet said around 1,000. but that's ok, at least it wont cost 3000 like the emergency vet said or 5,000 like ppl on yorkie forum had told me.

The vet also said, he has concerns about putting Harley under for surgery, due to his age. yes, it can be done. but that just adds another risk to him.

so, it's all good. i just got to make sure he takes it easy while it heals. thank you all for your support. really meant a lot to me.

he was snoring just a few minutes ago, so, he's ok :)

Harley update: Harley went in today for his 2 week check up, that and I am just nervous something isnt correct. ( worried parent ). the vet was impressed that Harley is even putting any weight on it at all. Harley still will hold his leg up , like he did from day one. that is just saying, uh, i have had enough for now. Still no surgery at this time. He goes in for another check up in 2 weeks and see how he is doing then. When he goes back in, then surgery we will see if surgery is needed or not. Harley is still on bed rest for the next 2 weeks. which it is driving him crazy. but, like the vet said, some of the dogs Harley's size will hold their leg up in the air for 6 weeks before they will even start to put their leg down.

I tell ya, that dog ( to me ) is amazing. when he goes to the vet, the vet moves his leg around, checkin for this...checkin for that. and Harley never whimpers. the vet made a comment about that to, how easy going Harley is.

I am happy with his progress, but still nervous about the outcome. even though , i believe deep down in my heart....everything will be ok.

Yes, A Party at the PupOil house!

Hi Folks!

Looking forward to our next gathering,,,which will happen on July 14th! We have a new Austinite! luv2luvgirls is now officially an Austinite so we are having a welcome to Austin party! And, Cowboi and durrrrrr will also be in town for this event so that is a double reason to have a party!! Like we really NEED a reason for a party,,,

Place: The PupOil Place
Date: July 14th
Time: 2:00 p.m.

It will be the usual fuckery. I'll be cooking something on the grill and we will have the usual snack stuff. So just bring what you plan on drinking and get here! The pool is fabulous, and if it gets too cool, then we will fire up the hot tub. Then, you can count on some fun with game night. Please send us a note to let us know if you are coming so we know how many to plan for.

Two of the three sleeping options are taken, but if you want to spend the night, we have room for two more; after that, if you stay you are on the couch or the floor, lol.

So, as always, looking forward to seeing as many Austinites (and honorary Austinites!) as we can get here! Hope you can make it!

Glynn and Pup
