I came across this last night... it's pretty awesome, if you ask me. And, Jim Hill does it all on the ukulele -- no looping, at all. *Enjoy* [filmed on June 5th, 2011 @ Don Quixote's International Music Hall in Felton, CA] |

I've been catching up on the TV series, This Is Us, and at the beginning of one of the episodes in Season 3 (titled, Toby; episode no. 5), the Beatles song (John Lennon wrote this song for Yoko, right before they got married back in 1969), Don't Let Me Down, was playing in the background.
I haven't heard that song in years, so I went in search of a cover of that song, over on YouTube and found an awesome version done by Chris Stapleton, Sheryl Crowe and Brandon Flowers (he's the lead singer of the band called The Killers). See what you think about this cover. I liked it a lot. Hearing it brought back all kinds of good memories from ages ago. |

Ray Charles covering ... Somewhere Over The Rainbow
Somewhere Over The Rainbow Trivia about this song which was written for the movie, The Wizard of Oz: "Over the Rainbow" (often referred to as "Somewhere Over the Rainbow") is a classic Academy Award-winning ballad song with music by Harold Arlen and lyrics by E.Y. Harburg. It was written for the movie The Wizard of Oz, and was sung by Judy Garland in the movie. Over time it would become Garland's signature song. In the film, part of the song is played by the MGM orchestra over the opening credits. About 5 minutes later, Garland, in the role of Dorothy Gale, sings "Over the Rainbow" after unsuccessfully trying to get her aunt and uncle to listen to her regarding an unpleasant incident involving Dorothy's dog Toto and the nasty spinster Miss Gulch (Margaret Hamilton). Dorothy's Aunt Em tells her to "find a place where you won't get yourself into any trouble", prompting Dorothy to walk off by herself and sing the song. The famous sequence itself, as well as the entirety of the Kansas scenes, was directed (though uncredited) by King Vidor. |
