I had what I thought was a fabulously lovely idea and I think it's in the process of blowing up in my face.

I won't know for sure for a few days though. It's a time intensive process.

I'm heading to the forest today :artist:

Soft*Silver 05-08-2010 12:19 AM

folks...I had a trip to the ER on Monday...my back went out and 3 of my discs herniated. After numerous shots of morphine, dualdid (sp?) and something else I cant remember, they sent me home with enough oxy to kill a horse. Five days later, the pain is back, and I have phlybitus in my left forearm. So, Off to the ER I went again today. This week is shot for me. And probably so for the weekend.

I dont want to drop out of this project tho. If I cant get my act together and send out the project to the wrangler, can I send it late with enough money to cover seperate postage costs? I really have a very cute idea but even if I could find my stuff, my phlybitus will ruin what I want to do.

is this ok? Or do you have other suggestions...

softness, sorry to hear you are below the weather and don't want to drop out.

Here is my 2 cents worth. In my opinion, illness and emergencies are exceptions to the rule. I'm not leaving for the Space Shuttle, or any other long distance trip, and making one for you is my intention, so, I am sending it to Jake.

I have no problem if you send mine later ( versus, the Wrangler having to back track at a later date, find all our addresses and send individual packages).

If I was Wranglin' , I would accept one from everyone, and have you mail to each that sent one to you (by providing you the list when I sent the collection of creations to you).

But, the precedent has been :
(a). up to the Projectl Wrangler
(b). up to a vote: the group conscience
(c). send Chocolate Tootsie Pop with Tommi's

I'm more worried about that horse killin oxy meds they gave you. :nurseshot:
Whatever the Wrangler's decision, I know you will find sushine days ahead.

Get Well Soon.

Tommi

softness.. you take whatever time you need. If you are not feeling well, obviously something like this does not compare to your health and making sure you are ok.

If you end up putting it together.. send it to Me.. and I do NOT want extra money for postage costs. I will get them to everyone late or not. You have enough worries right now without worrying of putting extra postage together on top of making the projects.

If you have any further questions you can PM Me. I hope you feel better soon. Rest assured, I know how you feel.

Gemme 05-08-2010 12:25 PM

Absolutely, softness! Take the time you need to heal and then get your stuff to either us individually, as Tommi mentioned, or to Jake to disperse to us. It would cut out one step going directly to us, but Jake's been kind enough to not want any additional monies for shipment, so it's entirely up to you. It's your work.

Now, get better!

:ohm:

Soft*Silver 05-09-2010 02:34 PM

happy mothers day everyone! I thank you for your responses and Jake, thanks for allowing me to send it to you.

I am happy to announce I truly feel I am on the road to mending my back! When I went in the first time they plastered me with drugs but thru an IV. It took care of the immediate pain but didnt work long term because I had to go back in 5 days later. That time, they shot me directly in my back (which is what they normally do) and I knew it was going to work. I got up and vaccumed the downstairs and cleaned up my mess that had been accumulating around me on the couch. Tonight I will sleep upstairs for the first time since this happened...over a week ago! I am not going to do anymore, even tho my back feels fine. I have learned that I dont feel the consequences for my behaviors until a day or two after the fact. And since I want to see my daughter walk down to get her BA diploma, I am not going to push it!

However, if I can sit upstairs and open a few boxes at a time until I can find my craft materials, I will do so. I am so glad you all are so understanding!

AND I got my package from last time yesterday, even tho I didnt find it until today! (I forgot to check mail!) oh how lovely they all are! I love love love...how individually our creative juices flowed into really unique projects! Thanks again for picking this theme and providing the materials!!

who is going to wrangle next time?? I dont dare take on the task until I am more settled into my home and my back is more stable.

I do have a question about a craft...embossing stamps. And has anyone made their own stamps?

Tommi 05-09-2010 02:52 PM

Easy does it

So glad you are on the mend softness. Take your time and take mini-breaks while you are attacking boxes. Chocolate works well too, if you like choclolate.

When this one's over, I'm sure someone will have a lovely idea. If memory serves me correctly, the deadline for the current project is the 17th. it will take a few days for Jake to get things together and out to us, so try to be patient.

Soft*Silver 05-16-2010 08:48 AM

I have found some of my craft items so I am going to try to work on this today...I will let you know if I can succeed in getting them done to get out.

do we ever do a specific craft? Like, I am sorely out of bookmarks and thought that would be a great project for the group! I cant wrangle yet...too busy and disorganized and new...but soon...

Tommi 05-16-2010 10:07 AM

I received a PM today from Gemme asking for My address to send her project to.

Where is everyone else at with their's?

purepisces?

Tommi?

softness?

everyone?

I guess in the end this was a bad idea, because it was drawn out so long. Well I suppose as ideas go sometimes they sound alot better in one's head. My apologies. I am sure the next one will be much smoother and alot more fun.

Yes and no. We've specifically done postcard art, which was fantastic. I love the PostSecrets idea and we did one of those and it turned out very well. Bookmarks would be a lovely idea, I think. When you are ready to wrangle, just say so!

Thanks for the reminder, Tommi. I should have them out to you in mid-to-late June.

If no one else has a specific idea that they are itching to suggest, I'll throw my hat in the ring for wrangler for the next round. I enjoy the process and you all never cease to surprise and delight me.

It's not a bad idea. Life flows up and down and sometimes our groups are small and sometimes they are large. Don't take the participation of us personally. Life just sometimes gets in the way.

Well, I'm glad it's a small group this time, because I am just working on mine today! I can't believe the deadline is tomorrow. I always wait until the last minute, but I think I really pushed it too far this time. But, I have every intention of being done by the end of the day tomorrow. So, they might be going out in the mail on the 18th.

Jake - I don't think this round was any more drawn out than they normally are. It was an interesting idea, although, I don't know that I'm going to be able to work in the 3D element. I guess I'll know soon enough.

Ohhh, Gemme ... I'm excited to see what you have in mind for the next round!

I LOVE the idea of doing bookmarks! I am normally reading at least three books at once ... and no matter how many bookmarks I buy (and I do buy them often) it seems that more often than not, I resort to using Post It notes & bits of paper. This would be a great project.

Soft*Silver 05-16-2010 11:22 AM

Jake, dear one, I think this project sounded fun! I am excited about working on it and if i get this dang garden tilled (not by me!) and my rooms cleared out, I will work on them tonight and get them out tomorrow. I have your ady from a postcard list. mmm...who else is doing this? I need to make 4, right?

I have a favor to ask of the Gemme-ster. I started to wrangle a project on the hyphen site but really would like to instead move entirely over here (same people on the thread here anyway, plus this site has become my home). Anyway, lemmee, know Gemmekins, whether I could do this next round so as to hopefully re-start the wrangling of that project here.

Lunch bag or smaller...Small,just hold loose tickets.

Decoration up to creativity. Just needs to include Raffle gift, name of person donating it, number on the list, and bag designer name.

Tommi 05-16-2010 11:01 PM

Any Bag, any way you like

The people who signed up (see list above) are going to do their own thing..

Little gift bags with handles (like the kind you stuff with tissue and a present), little lunch bags, any way or color you like. Variety is the spice of life.. Someone will pull a winning ticket from each bag on Sat. night.

Picture this at the Reunion.. Long draped tables with the donations on display, and adjacent to each one is the "Ticket Holder" =bag. People will put 1/2 the ticket and keep the other with the number.

The Bag, has the identification of who donated the item, and what it is, plus the # from the list. Whatever you like: write with a marker, sticky letters, type the info and glue it on..glitter, stickers, or ...whatever the imagaination comes up with.

Jake - and everyone on this project - I am REALLY sorry, but I don't think I'm going to be able to get mine mailed out until Thursday. Will that be ok?

I can always mail them out individually so that Jake doesn't have to hold up mailing out the work.

Slacker.

*grin*

I actually am amused that, for once, I am not the one rushing around at the deadline to get things done and out. It feels weird, to be honest.

I did not get mine into the mail today, though they are finished, dry and ready to be packed up. My errands ran long and I ran into to some issues with packaging them.

*sigh*

I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and send them out individually because in my test run (My housemate used to work for the PO and suggested when sending things out to make a "test run". I package everything up and toss it around a little bit and then bring it to the dogs. If after my manhandling and the dogs sniffing and pushing and pouncing on it, it survives, great. If not, I need to rethink my packaging.), my samples did *not* survive. If they don't survive me and the dogs, then they definitely won't survive two separate mailings.

So, if everyone....Jake, pure, Tommi, softness...is okay with it, I think I'll just pack each one individually in one of those "if it fits, it ships" boxes and send them out with an abundance of bubble wrap. It will be more expensive, but I don't see another way to package them so that they will make it in one piece.

I think if it were awkward or delicate it could work, but each piece is not only delicate but a bit awkward and weirdly shaped. Double whammy.
