What did my pet do to me?? Lol

Mister Mortgage, diabetic cat, must think he is scheduled for a vet appt. He is wrong, lol. This is the second day he is not sitting waiting for his shot. He has an internal clock that reminds us at times.

He is no where to be found in his usual resting spots. I think he was under the bed. Well, I get the shot ready and wait. Of course, I head into the shower. I pull back the curtain and there he is. I grab the towel, dry off my face and with one scoop, pick him up, get the shot and well-la, onto the bed, inject shot and go back into the bathroom to finish drying off.

We love our little friends so much, they make us do silly stuff!

This morning I got out of bed to use the restroom came back to bed just in time to snuggle with the kitties and the dam alarm went off at the usual 5:00 am yuck!

The kitties were not happy.

Oliver ran. I mean raaaaaan, like a cat normally races around the sofa after exiting the litter box kind of ran.

Twice.

Around the sofa.

After exiting the litter box.

:cat:

Then he ran into the bedroom and meowed loudly until I came in to see what he was up to.

I'm hoping this is a good sign. He's NEVER run anywhere. Even when he runs away from his medications, it never actually involves running. Usually he sidesteps me and slinks away.

So that's what he did today.

I bought a load of horses at a sale years ago and there was a yearling that just wasn't as spry as the other ones. On one hand she would be ok then she would be near passed out or just dragging around. I took her to L.S.U. vet clinic for a work up of test and I mean everything. Come to find out she was diabetic or the horse version of it , I put her on oral insulin it took a while but she got as good as she was going to get. Never thought a horse would be diabetic.

Gemme 02-16-2016 08:30 AM

It's what he didn't do that put him on my stinker list. He didn't let me sleep in! Or at all, really.

Currently, he's hogging the bed taking a nap.

Stinker!

My dog came home yesterday after being boarded for four days while I was out of town. Thus, he's been a mamas boy sleeping in my bed all day when he isn't following me around.

The cats have been stalker-like after being home alone for a few days. Desperate for belly rubs and treats. I think they even missed the dog. They have been extra ninja-like with him today.

Greyson 02-17-2016 12:10 PM

I am sitting here once again anxiously playing all the scrabble threads instead of studying and watching the cat stand dutifully my her cat food dish sending me telepathic messages saying "feed me now."

Since I got home Monday night the kitties have been so affectionate. The baby wants to lay with my arm around her and purr. The older kitty wants constant pets. It is nice to be missed.

My cat, Eleanor, who sticks her nose up at chicken ...and even refuses to eat pate and shredded cat food (she only likes the bit shaped ones) about took my hand off for some Cheezits....and the other day it was cheetohs...I guess my kitty is a cheese whore. Who knew...

I have to give kudos to my pup, Yoda...

When my daughter brought him home (I'm thinking it was September?) He was a scared, timid big guy with borderline cat issues....

Yesterday, we went to Chimney Rock to hike. It was packed with it being a weekend and a beautiful day.... and I did think about leaving for that reason. But we went out and hiked just the same. The results were wonderful to see.

Jacques is a poodle and a flirt by nature...if he can get attention he's all over it. So he really acts as an ambassador with the public. Everyone who stopped to pet Jacques said how beautiful Yoda is...he very happily accepted their attention and it made me realize how much confidence he has gained in the past months.

I know some of it is that he is now loved and not harmed...but I have to give Jacques credit for leading by example. He has done so much for Yodas self esteem...

Love my boys <3

cinnamongrrl 02-28-2016 04:53 PM

My cat Eleanor noticed immediately that I opened windows today....

She was running from one end of the house to the other...laying in one, sitting in another...it was adorable. :)

cinnamongrrl 02-28-2016 05:32 PM

Yoda continued to grow as we visited the Biltmore. So many people with dogs of all sizes (he was the biggest though) and he was nice to people and pets. At one point, two small children decided to hang all over him while I was busy talking to a man about his gorgeous dog ( a Belgian shepherd). I was fearful about the children, but Yoda took it all in stride. He kind of looked at me all helpless like.....what is THIS about??

There are no small children in the immediate future but its good to know that he tolerates them well....like most things....

People are very kind....especially dog people. I'm glad he's feeling the love and the completely deserved admiration... <3

randrum 02-28-2016 06:43 PM

Ernie and I roadtripped back to our new home together today. He slept 95% of the way and only got antsy when I got off the highway.

When we got to the new house, he spent about 20 minutes exploring before he settled on the chaise with his new toy.

cinnamongrrl 03-02-2016 10:23 PM

They freaked me the bleep out....

They all of a sudden started barking like crazy....while I was in the shower...mid rinse...

I have a knife in the bathroom (sometimes the drain stopper goes down and won't get back up and it needs to be pried open) so I went out immediately and checked doors and windows and didn't see a think....

Its just odd. Yoda doesn't typically bark at just anything...

Yeah that knife is coming to bed with me....

The baby kitty is laying next to me looking cute. The older kitty is in bed with bad allergies. The Benadryl is just a bandaid so I am taking her to the vet this weekend for some real meds.

PaPa 03-03-2016 07:55 PM

Grace cracked me up today. I was in the bathroom downstairs putting putty in some cracks in the woodwork. There is a step into the bathroom from the hallway. I turn to look toward the door and there she was with her chin resting on the linoleum floor of the bathroom while sitting in the hallway...just watching me. LOL! Whatta pup!!

Gemme 03-03-2016 09:32 PM

Oliver laid in bed and watched me drag furniture and boxes of stuff from one side of the apartment to the other in preparation of tomorrow's painting. He didn't even offer to help, the louse.

Today I took the oldest kitty to the vet for allergy issues. She was a good girl for not biting the vet but she screamed at me the entire time. We were both happy to get home. She got a shot with a steroid and antibiotics. The vet gave me the heads up on some over the counter meds to treat her allergies.

Gemme 03-10-2016 06:41 AM

This morning, he ran around after eating breakfast. He fluctuates between being afraid of all the new furniture and boxes in the house (painting another section of the home and had to put the stuff somewhere) and enjoying hiding amongst the boxes and brick-a-brack. He was in a hide and seek mood this morning, which is good to see. He's been feeling better lately, I think.

Last night, I was on the sofa with him. He was stretched out and I was eating a late dinner. I petted him and ran my hand down his side and onto his belly. Sometimes he's skittish about his belly, so when he grabbed my hand with his monster polydactyl and double-clawed paws and nipped my finger, I thought that was the reason. Then he continued to hold my fingers and breathe with them mushed up against his nose, I realized he enjoys the smell of pulled pork.

That's also the first time he's ever nipped me. Didn't hurt but it surprised me. Maybe we've come around a corner with these ear infections. He's acting more 'cat' like lately.

At bed time 11:45p.m, my girls wanted to go out, being they don't care for the rain I figure it would be a walk around the patio and back in the house.
Wrong, this time they took off running out in the rain having a singing in the rain moment, when they did come in they were two soaking wet happy fur kids. WE spent some time with a towel and blow dryer getting dried off so we could go to bed. Glad they had a good time is what matters.

easygoingfemme 03-10-2016 04:26 PM

It's been really warm out so all of the windows are open. The cats are going nuts laying in every window they can, watching the birds, chattering at squirrels, and being blissed out in sun spots.

The dog is talking to all of the other dogs in the neighborhood. Everyone has windows open and all the dogs are yelling out to each other out the windows. Like they're catching up on everyone's winter. It's pretty funny.

Today, (and this happens pretty often), I watched my little angel, (pitbull named Rosie,) standing in the kitchen all by herself just a wagging away. She had no idea anybody was watching her and she was so happy. I love that! 😍

Today the baby kitty has an upset tummy so I am giving her the malt meds. The older kitty seems better with the allergies but has lost weight. It is a kitty love day.

Gemme 03-20-2016 05:30 PM

Today? He lounged around on the bed and then played for a couple of minutes under the mini trampoline and then he ate and went back to the bed.

Last night, however, he tried to murder me.

Seriously.

He's not usually gassy but he declared chemical warfare on me last night. I'm not sure how I survived but I made it.

Barely.

Rockinonahigh 03-20-2016 07:26 PM

Yester day my son cut the yard as it was looking like a jungle after all the rain. Today my youngest fur child ( a Jack Russel) brought a present then put it under her blanket. I was going to take a nap then moved the blanket to find a dead critter hidden, It was a very tiny one but I striped the bed to the bone and re did them. Now no one comes in from outside with out being checked for such things....yuck.

The pup, Alle, parked herself inside the suitcase to make sure she was going

My boys enjoyed the great outdoors with me. We tried two different walking areas at Biltmore...

Jacques starting to get tired on long walks. I need to remember he's an old man now...

Gemme 03-25-2016 05:16 AM

Oliver's been doing a little better recently although he's started to shake his head a lot more now. I think it's time for another trip to the vet to check his ears. That's not why I'm in here though. He was so cute this morning. Normally, he kind of gets in my face and yowls for food first thing but this time he just watched me sleep and when I opened my eyes, he popped up like, "Can we go? Can we go? Can we go?" without all the vocal drama. Once I got over the creepiness of him watching me, his little expression was adorable.

I have 4 Taurus fur-kits (same litter). Do you know what this means?
1. They are the world's greatest lovers.
2. They all want all of me, and become Murder Inc. inside their 3 cute, little, furry heads, when #4 gets all my attention.
3. If they run out of food, they will be extra kind for awhile, then, they will stalk me everywhere, looking at me with utter contempt and disgust, until fed the best the store has for cats.
4. They supervise and inspect everything I do, from yard work to cooking. especially cooking.
5. They determine the logistics of when I come and go shopping for them, and must see everything I bought.
6. I am rewarded by receiving snakes, frogs, mice, moles, birds, etc., in my bed, because are super-turbo ambitious.
7. Oh, and how they love their independence and freedom! I don't dare keep Them inside when They want to go out, I don't dare try to stalk Them, or ever take Their food away, or..:|

I saw this online today and thought it was such a smart invention for dogs.

Both of my dear dogs passed in 2011 but one day when I was walking them in my suburban So CA neighborhood and across the street, out trotted 3 coyotes. I used to walk them around 5:30AM before I would leave to go to work.

I grabbed them up, one under each arm (luckily they were small dogs) and turned and walked the other way.

I never felt really ok walking them early in the morning after that.

Anyway, this coyote vest would have given me a lot of peace of mind and I know that I would have bought one for each dog had they been available then.

They both sleep a lot due to old age. They will go to the dog park with us some time this week and it is about a 1 mile walk. They are pretty worn out when we get home.

cinnamongrrl 03-27-2016 05:29 PM

The boys hiked a big ol mountain with me....they also made a friend along the trail...a mixed dog named Gus and his owner stopped to talk...we exchanged numbers to have a play date with our dogs :)

cinnamongrrl 03-27-2016 06:56 PM

Ohhh and kitty Eleanor tore up the toilet paper while we were gone...just a tiny bit...

This from a cat who has never played in the (almost) year that I've had her...this past week she has been getting frisky, running all around the house...and even swatted at a couple of her million toys....which have gone unused for the previously stated year....

I'm not sure what's gotten into my saucy little tart...

Bubala 03-27-2016 07:04 PM

The kitty was cray cray as usual... running up and down the stairs, rubbing on everything and flopping everywhere to be petted... then hissing and scratching as a psycho killer that she is! lol
The puppy got a fun day of play at the park... she has been passed out cold since we got home... I guess the furry babies are happy today. :)

weatherboi 03-28-2016 06:16 PM

Right now the schnoodle is on her place waiting for me. In other words she is giving me the "look". The schnauzer is upstairs "helping" someone work. Really she is just passed out on her place in lala land.
