P.S. the troupe is on YouTube. Check them out doing Lindy Hop. They learned, initially by watching old movies, like A Day at the Races. Later, they learned from Harlem born dancer and choreographer, Frankie Manning, who also, along with Steven Mitchell, taught me. Frankie and Stevens are on the tube, too. In case you get curious. And, yeah, I could dance that fast ... not more than one, now, or call 911. Lol

In other news, I have a nasty bruise on my knee that looks like a fish. We've named her Dory.

In Canada, we have paid parental leave for close to a year (50 weeks) where 55% of one's average insured earnings (max $43 200=$457/week). More fathers are taking part of this parental leave than in the past.

FYI:The United States is the only Western country that does not mandate paid parental leave, although the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 mandates unpaid parental leave for the majority of American workers. (wiki)

P.S. Hope Dory isn't too painful! Cute name for a bruise!

as I was clicking around I found 'billy the exterminator' is on...it's an episode with gater-dave...*and* as if that weren't fun enough, they have scheduled 'billy' and his pals 'till 12:30 am this morning !!...now isn't That a treat for a girl who over did it yesterday and is too sore and worn out to do much except eat home-made apple sauce and delicate bites of Cake!! :)

I really miss my partner big time today...woke up thinking he was still next to me...and then I started to cry...he would have gone MAD for billy...well, he would have like the whole alligators and snakes ' stuff, not sure he'd have been into the icky ones...he saved me from critters more than once

and so we have more random chat from the nina-the-random-chatter :)

The notions of chivalry and honor aren't dead. They are alive and well and living in NY.

Using coloring pencils to draw a diagram of how a virus enters the cells and replicates itself..I am enjoying microbiology just as much as I am enjoying the anatomy and physiology class I am in..Just wish I was done with this two hour long microbiolgoy quiz...

I am just about to eat a baby spinach and arrugula salad with green olives, feta cheese, avocado, a boiled egg, almonds and apple cider vinegar along with two pieces of gluten-free flax bread with a bit of olive oil on top.

:) mmm.

the rest of the day will be spent cooking, cleaning and laundering. so this appears to possibly be the highlight.

I call September the month of birthdeath.....my daughter was born on August 30th (close enough) and died on September 27th. My father was born on September 5th & died on September 30th.....

I was having an interesting discussion about death with a dear, dear friend...and I likened the death of one's child like being in a theatre.....and when one loses a child, You walk up the steps to the mezzanine level. Sure there may be a few others up there with You, but the majority of folks are down in the lobby....milling about....carrying on conversations with one another.

Losing a child takes a parent to a different level of understanding about death. It's a different flavor altogether than having lost a parent or cousin or uncle or grandparent.

(I'm not writing this for pity....truly. I'm really ok! <smile> I find death and grief intriguing, actually.)
