She's Gone -- Daryl Hall and John Oates Everybody's high on consolation Everybody's trying to tell me what's right for me My daddy tried to bore me with a sermon But it's plain to see that they can't comfort me Sorry Charlie for the imposition I think I've got it, got the strength to carry on I need a drink and a quick decision Now it's up to me, ooh what will be She's gone, oh I, oh I'd Better learn how to face it She's gone, oh I, oh I'd Pay the devil to replace her She's gone, what went wrong Get up in the morning look in the mirror I'm worn as her tooth brush hanging in the stand My face ain't looking any younger Now I can see love's taken her toll on me She's gone, oh I, oh I'd Better learn how to face it She's gone, oh I, oh I'd Pay the devil to replace her She's gone, what went wrong Think I'll spend eternity in the city Let the carbon and monoxide choke my thoughts away And pretty bodies help dissolve the memories But they can never be what she was to me She's gone, oh I, oh I'd Better learn how to face it She's gone, oh I, oh I'd Pay the devil to replace her She's gone, what went wrong She's gone, oh I, oh I'd Better learn how to face it She's gone (she's gone) I can't believe that she's gone, oh I I'd pay the devil to replace her She's gone oh I, oh I'd Better learn how to face it She's gone (she's gone) I can't believe that she's gone, oh I I'd pay the devil to replace her She's gone (she's gone) She's gone (she's gone) She's gone (she's gone) She's gone (she's gone) She's gone ~Theo~ :winky::listening::bouquet: |

Postcards From L.A. -- Joshua Kadison I'm the piano player, down at Eddies' bar And Rachel she's the waitress who want to be a star She swears she's gonna make it, make it big someday And she'll send me picture postcards from L.A. When it's time for closing I play while Rachel cleans She listens to my music, I listen to her dreams She swears she's gonna make it, she's going all the way And I say, send me picture postcards from L.A. Send me postcards from L.A. signed with love forevermore Picture postcards from L.A. to hang on my refrigerator door Rachel, if you find me one, I'd love a picture of the California sun When Rachel shares my pillow she always asks me things Like do I really think she's pretty, do I like the way she sings? I don't know how to answer, so I always smile and say I say, send me picture postcards from L.A. Send me postcards from L.A. signed with love forevermore Picture postcards from L.A. to hang on my refrigerator door Rachel, if you find me one, I'd love a picture of the California sun Sometimes Rachel stands up in the middle of the bar And does a scene from the late show We all clap our hands as she puts her apron on And says next week, I'm gonna go She'll even buy a ticket and pack her things to leave Though we all know the story we pretend that we believe But something always comes up, something always makes her stay And still no picture postcards from L.A. Send me postcards from L.A. signed with love forevermore Picture postcards from L.A. to hang on my refrigerator door Rachel, if you find me one, I'd love a picture of the California sun I'm the piano player down at Eddie's bar And Rachel she's the waitress who wants to be a star... ~Theo~ :winky::listening::bouquet: |
Jessie -- Joshua Kadison From a phone booth in Vegas, Jessie calls at Five a. m. To tell me how she's tired of all of them. She says, "Baby, I've been thinking 'bout a trailer by the sea. We could go to Mexico, you, the cat and me. We'll drink tequila and look for seashells. Now, doesn't that sound sweet?" Well Jessie, you always do this every time I get back on my feet. Jessie, paint your pictures 'bout how it's gonna be. By now I should know better, your dreams are never free. But tell me all about our little trailer by the sea. Jessie, you can always sell any dream to me. Oh, Jessie, you can always sell any dream to me. She asks me how the cat's been. I say, "Moses, he's just fine, but he used to think about you all the time." We finally took your pictures down off the wall. Jessie, how do you always seem to know just when to call?" She sings, "Get yourself together. Bring Mose and drive real fast." And I listen to her promise. I swear to God this time it's gonna last. Jessie, paint your pictures 'bout how it's gonna be. By now I should know better, your dreams are never free. But tell me all about our little trailer by the sea. Jessie, you can always sell any dream to me. I love you in the sunshine, lay you down in the warm white sand. And who knows, maybe this time things'll turn out just the way you planned. Jessie, paint your pictures 'bout how it's gonna be. By now I should know better, your dreams are never free. But tell me all about our little trailer by the sea. Jessie, you can always sell any dream to me. Oh, Jessie, you can always sell any dream to me. ~Theo~ :winky::listening::bouquet: |
Brynn Cartelli
While waiting (hours, blech!) for the laptop to make a system image, I was stuck here at my desk, bored out of my gourd, and and so I began watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade on TV. Somehow, that also sealed my pov that marching bands and I are marching to different drums.
On a more positive note, I did catch Brynn Cartelli singing in the Parade (2018 Voice finale singer and winner! She is something, right? Oooh-la-la!!!). Although it was lip synced in the parade (I think), I did experience ripples of ecstasy as she sang Walk My Way. Not to mention how she oddly resembles someone I keep bumping into here in my own home town :) - although the one I keep bumping into has big blue eyes... So, without further ado, here she is: :cheer: |

Year Of The Cat -- Al Stewart In a morning from a Bogart movie In a country where they turn back time You go strolling through the crowd like Peter Lorre Contemplating a crime She comes out of the sun in a silk dress running Like a watercolour in the rain Don't bother asking for explanations She'll just tell you that she came In the year of the cat She doesn't give you time for questions As she locks up your arm in hers And you follow 'till your sense of which direction Completely disappears By the blue tiled walls near the market stalls There's a hidden door she leads you to These days, she says, I feel my life Just like a river running through The year of the cat Well, she looks at you so coolly And her eyes shine like the moon in the sea She comes in incense and patchouli So you take her, to find what's waiting inside The year of the cat Well, morning comes and you're still with her And the bus and the tourists are gone And you've thrown away your choice and lost your ticket So you have to stay on But the drum-beat strains of the night remain In the rhythm of the new-born day You know sometimes you're bound to leave her But for now you're going to stay In the year of the cat... ~Theo~ :winky::listening::bouquet: |

During his coming of time, Poland was yet to be formally recognized as an European state. Chopin died during the year of 1849, in France, where he resided since 1831 (I think).
