Okay these are my kind of series. Cards and D-backs are coming back! Yay! 3 series down to the last game. Yanks and Tigers tonight - Nova vs Fister. Great pitching match up. Tomorrow is both national finals. D-backs send Kennedy against Gallardo. And, Cards send Carpenter against Halliday. Exciting stuff. |
Some disturbing news from the Pirates front office.
ALL of the management/ coaches will be back next year :| so much for the *accountability* rhetoric. The Pirates had the most strike outs in all of MLB. Shouldn't the hitting coach be held accountable? :hamactor:Well, of course facebook has the answer. The year before, (under a different hitting coach) the Pirates didn't hit. They just stood there. |

i hope fister shows what he is made of, ... the good stuff, not the bad lol.
i feel like he will be better prepared to face yankee hitters, and detroit hitters will be better prepared to face nova. i just can't believe burnett did that well lol. i just knew he would be gone by the 3rd/4th inning. go tigers!! |

WTG Detroit! Had me a little worried there but ya done good! :baseball: |
Tigers advance! WOOT! Yes, Kobe, they had me worried, too! Exciting game. I'm sticking with them vs. Texas. I think they can go to the WS.
|
aj burnett, sorry bout that. pitches for the yankees.
i didn't watch the 7th inning of the tigers/yankees, ... too nervous. great game. the yankees are so used to winning, ... it kinda felt like they thought the game was just gonna come to them. after all, they are the yankees! they are in shock mode lol. but you know, to beat the yankees ... that's a smart, skilled group of players. the tigers can say they've beat a great team. |
I am so glad the Rangers will be playing the Tigers :) I am so hoping they can win this year... Im not usually a baseball fan but since we all know the Cowboys aint gonna do shit and the Mavs won their first championship ever well Im holding out believing in the Rangers :)
|
GO TIGERS!!!!
I was at work, so I couldn't watch the game. But I had ESPN open in my browser to the score/play-by-play game in my browser and "watched" (refreshed) all night. So excited! |

I think they are going to get there- thought that all season. Lots of talent and smarts on that team. Verlander is going to pitch Saturday! |

So they had better make it to the World Series. Me and Nick have tickets for game 5. |
You're Out!
Since I am a Red Sox fan and I truly hate the Yankees, I am so pleased now that they too are OUT of the running for the World Series!

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving! This is so kewl!!! |
good for you, bet. i hope the tigers are there too.
aww mistie, there's a big o bear of chance the rangers are gonna be boom-boomed on out of the way lol. go tigers! lol i can't wait for the rangers/tigers series. |
I have to get to work, but had to say Hi to the baseball fans! WOW- getting very interesting! What will happen tonight!?
|
Another good, nail biter game. Congrats Brew crew! D-backs had plenty of chances but just didnt have one more trick play up their sleeve. Ok time for the Cardinals to pull off the impossible. Then my wish for Tigers vs Cards for the WS will be one step closer to reality. |
Quote:
OK... now what will happen with the Cards!!! |
Wooohoo Cardinals did it! What a pitchers duel! Fantastic baseball night. So Texas vs Detroit and Brewers vs Cardinals. Still going with Tigers and Cardinals. |
the play by rafael furcal in the bottom of the 8th, 6-3...
that was all heart. man he was determined. i bet that's the hardest he has ever thrown a ball in his life. i'm not so sure placido polanco was out. i haven't seen the replay close up. dang what a play! then nick punto makes a great play at 2nd, 4-3. two hustle plays, excellent. chris carpenter's pitching and the defense behind him, ... gave it all they had. enjoyed. |
yeah, polanco was out lol !! wow, what a hustle-heart play by furcal.

I dont follow baseball alot..but at the beginning of the year I thought it would be the Red Sox or Yankees against the Phillies. Disappointed about the BoSox, but not about the Phillies. Now I'm hoping for The Brewers.
What team of the remaining teams has not won a World Series in the longest time? |

:hangloose: |
(0) texas rangers have made one world series appearance.
in 2010, san francisco giants won. (0) milwaukee brewers have made one world series appearance. in 1982, then in the american league, ... st. louis cardinals won 4 games to 3. (4) detroit tigers have won 4 world series. the last in 1984 against the san diego padres. (10) st. louis cardinals have won 10 world series. the last in 2006 against the detroit tigers. |

But, I am a National League fan.... so.... |

Wow, I didnt realize the Brewers have never won a WS. I thought they had won a few back in the days of Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, Gorman Thomas, Cecil Cooper, Rollie Fingers et al. And I forgot they used to be the Seattle Pilots too. So the Rangers and Brewers have never won....ordinarily I would automatically root for those who have never won before. It would be cool if they would face one another in the WS. But, I am still stuck on the Tigers and Cards for the present. That is even tho the Cards wiped the field with my Red Sox back in 67. Gawd that was a series to remember with the likes of Bob Gibson, Lou Brock, Orlando Cepeda, Steve Carlton, Tim McCarver vs Rico Petrocelli, Yaz, George Scott, Ken Harrelson, Reggie Smith, Jim Lonborg. Then again, it was the Cards the Sox beat in 2004 to win their first title since the early 1900's. ----------------------- World Series Facts Teams that have never won a World Series: Brooklyn Robins, Colorado Rockies, Houston Astros, Houston Colt .45s, Kansas City Athletics, Milwaukee Brewers, Montreal Expos, Seattle Mariners, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres, Seattle Pilots, St. Louis Browns, Washington Nationals. |

In retrospect (me reviewing why the Pirates kept that batting coach) Baseball is really a game of failures. If you go to the dish and miss 7 times.....(7 failures) you are batting .300 True, so many other things factor in But a .300 hitter is paid millions. They don't call it a .700 looser. OK, done thinkinng out loud. |

and i thought it was bad that i remembered the expos LOL ...
jk, atlast :hangloose: |
I fell asleep during the Tiger game last night. Darn! Tigers down one in the series with a 3 to 2 loss to the Texas.
Delmon Young is out for the remainder of the season:hamactor: That obligue muscle is worse than they initially thought. I think they will miss that bat. He batted .316 against the yankees 6 hits in 19 trips to the dish, 3 of them home runs. OK :goodluck:, Jim Leyland, I have faith, keep them focused. Go Tigers. |
