Tank (James Garner). This is a sappy, heart-warming tale where James Garner comes through as a great dad and saves the family, the army base and his town from a small-town corrupt sheriff and his evil minion deputy. I watch it every year or two, on VHS. I can't help myself.

Bitter Tears of Petra Von Kant Director Fassbinder

Petra von Kant is a successful fashion designer -- arrogant, caustic, and self-satisfied. She mistreats Marlene (her secretary, maid, and co-designer). Enter Karin, a 23-year-old beauty who wants to be a model. Petra falls in love with Karin and invites her to move in. The rest of the film deals with the emotions of this affair and its aftermath!

(This may be dubbed or in subtitles I don't remember to be honest)

Sometimes I feel that films ( or any art, really) that disturb you are what it's all about.

"disturb" does not have to be pejorative.

The Great Movies Game
Here's how it works: In alphabetical order, each person lists a great movie (obviously, this will be subjective since we all have different ideas of what "great" is)

Collette, we (or at least I) absolutely love your choices, but it's confusing when you don't post alphabetically. I know I'm partly at fault for giving you reps when you do post out of turn (but your choices, alphabetically or not, are just superb—and I'll do almost anything, including repping you when I shouldn't, for a great movie).

Please help us out by posting in turn.
