Most welcome...I figured that was the size you meant, but wanted to be sure!

I really enjoyed previous projects like this but I won't be joining this one. I've got too much going on and can't handle a project that would take brain cells to put together.

Have fun, y'all.

Ooh, that's too bad. Well, let's see how more folks feel about the project. I have a feeling you may not be the only one.

What say you to matchbox treasure troves?

I'd be in to this. I love the matchbox projects.

Yay..the mail delivery has arrived!
Wonderful job my favorite crafters. I love them all 😍

Who made me the vision board that has a bird on it and says "as gently as a feather" and also has the word "triumphant" on it and the phrase "special (not stressful)" ? I was appreciating it tonight and do not see a name on it (I'm sure I knew originally.).

FireSignFemme 05-12-2019 10:36 PM

Sitting this one out. J and my oldest are helping me out so I can pay off my credit card faster. Nice of them to do that then let me pay them back. Unlike the credit card company money owed to them doesn't wrack up interest. They wouldn't say anything but still, it's nice of them and I don't want to take advantage of their kindness. Geez I feel like I'm in a 12 Step program, only instead of in regards to something fun just this ass suck crap. Hi, my name is FSF I'm a chargeaholic and life has become unmanageable. Last month I spent money I didn't have on a 10lb bag of potatoes, a tube of toothpaste -generic, and bought myself 3 pair of granny panties. From Walmart. Clearly I am powerless over my addiction, my spending is out of control, and this wanton waste of money must stop! Shit people I so need a job.

So far we have three in and two out. Anyone else have interest or not to express?

I'm not opposed to doing this with a very small group of people if not a lot are interested. Unless people think if that's the case we should do something more group friendly....

nanners 05-13-2019 05:26 PM

I’m going to have to sit this one out. I’ve just got too much going on in my life. Hopefully I’ll be able to join in the next one. For those who are doing it, have lots of fun!

Sorry, I'm out too. It sounds like a fun project, but I need a little break.

candy_coated_bitch 05-13-2019 09:27 PM

Ok, so clay and nycfem are we still in, or does the group just need a break???

Much as I hate to, I am going to sit this one out. I have some tests & possible surgery coming up in next few weeks....:(. I don't want to commit, then have to drop out & be timed out...:(.

Great project, but I just best sit this one out...thanks, CCB!

candy_coated_bitch 05-14-2019 02:07 AM

Ok, I'm going to cancel the project then, as the majority of people can't commit or need a break. Most of our core members are replying no. Which is fine, we can always do this at a later date when it works for people.

nanners 05-14-2019 04:40 AM

I think that’s a good idea. Maybe we could take a hiatus for one month?? What does everyone think about that idea? CCB, would you consider wrangling that project when we resume?

Gemme 05-14-2019 07:30 AM

I definitely could use a break.

candy_coated_bitch 05-14-2019 08:02 AM

I would definitely consider doing this project at a later date if there's interest!

clay 05-14-2019 09:35 AM

I would definitely consider doing this project at a later date...all dependent on when I have my surgery!

I definitely want YOU, CCB to wrangle it at that time as well.

While I am sad we aren't doing anything at this time, I am feeling like we are just needing a bit of a break from projects. The last few were intensive, and we did several back to back (not that I am complaining, for I truly enjoy them) it seems like everyone is just overwhelmed with life and life's challenges at this time. ....... all of us have a very full plate seems like. Anyway, all that to say...let's table for now & pick up at a later date.....this way we all have some "down time" and can be refreshed to do this cute project idea later...:)

GeorgiaMa'am 05-14-2019 04:53 PM

Yes, I will have more time to breathe in about a month, five weeks tops. Stuff at work has me stressing.

Gemme 05-15-2019 06:55 AM

For those who craft artsy stuff, MerMay is going on FB so everyday I get to see beautiful artwork of a ton of mermaids. There is also another art auction going on but I'm not keeping tabs on that. Too rich for my blood.

My crazy time at work is over (I hope), so I could be up for a project whenever everyone is ready.

candy_coated_bitch 06-24-2019 11:34 PM

I'd still love to do the matchbox project, however I have a grant application due Friday and can't even think of posting about it until Saturday.

candy_coated_bitch 06-30-2019 04:55 PM

I apologise for not posting about the matchbox project yet. My grant was due Friday and my sister's baby shower was today. I'm kinda fried right now but I will put something together at the latest tomorrow.

candy_coated_bitch 07-01-2019 12:31 PM

Tonight, I promise. I've been having a crazy day.

FILLED MATCHBOX EXTRAVAGANZA

The premise: Create one (1) matchbox per partner. (The sign up will be limited to 8 participants total.) Choose a color scheme and decorate your matchboxes in the color scheme. Try to use around two main colors. Then, fill your matchboxes to the brim with tiny goodies that fit your color scheme. Some ideas are colored paper clips, other tiny clips, small rocks, beads, brads, buttons, single stickers, bits of ribbon, tiny origami, paper scraps, etc. Try to be creative. This project DOES potentially have a cost to it because of the filling of the matchboxes and the mailing costs, but as most of us have a craft stash if we're creative we should be able to come up with a lot of items. Also hit up Dollar stores, the $1 section at Michael's, Target, etc.

Dates: Sign ups between Monday July 1st and Monday July 8th. (One week.)

I'm thinking six weeks to complete the project, but I am open to feedback on this. Six weeks from July 8th puts us at a due date of Monday August 19th and a grace period late late date of August 26th. They MUST be in my paws by that time. Please include $10 for shipping.

It's really a simple project so I can't think of more explanation but please ask questions if you need clarification.

SIGN UP:
1) CCB
2) clay
3)
4)
5)
6)
7)
8)

RULES AS AGREED UPON TO BE ADDED AT THE END OF EACH PROJECT:
"For 2019, the rule is if one of our projects is received by the wrangler more than seven days after the due date, or one of us drops out of a project for whatever reason, that person is welcome to continue posting but is not allowed to sign up for a group project again until six months from the latest date that the project was supposed to be due. No exceptions. This rule applies to participants and to wranglers. Wranglers must mail out projects within one week of the latest date that the projects were supposed to be due. In addition to waiting six months before being able to join a penpal project, the person who has not met the latest deadline must post directly on the penpal thread within a week of missing the latest deadline stating that they have not adhered to the deadline (reason is welcome to be included or does not have to be) and, most importantly, the date on which they will be able to return to participating in the penpal projects. They must scroll back and add themselves to the bottom of the list of any other participants who have not met the late date for any project for 2018 & 2019. If that is not done, then the member is welcome to participate in the thread with "thanks" and reps and thread chat but not to participate in any future projects for 2019. The reason for this is personal responsibility, so that we have a running record right on the thread that is easy to refer back to when needed. And for the purposes of clarification, if someone drops out before the deadline to sign up has been closed then they are not excluded from future projects because they are still following the rules.

Example: Bitsy misses the late date for a project. Within a week of that late date she must scroll down and find the most recent list of people who have missed the late date in 2018 and copy that list to a new post and add herself. Bitsy's post would look something like this:

'Sorry, I had the bird flu and missed the late date of 2/21/18. I can start participating in new projects on 8/21/18. I have added myself to the list below:

1. Tony (missed the late date of 1/28/19, able to participate 7/28/19)
2. Bitsy (missed the late date of 2/21/19, able to participate 8/21/19)'

This rule must be posted in its entirety at the bottom of all new projects that are being wrangled so that members can thoughtfully consider whether we wish to commit to a new project."

Please if you are currently timed out put yourself on the list and the dates of your time out because I am not responsible for doing that.

For clarification, how many matchboxes are we each making? Are we being partnered up with one individual or making for the group. Sorry, I was not sure by the phrasing. Thanks!

Making for the group! So definitely keep in mind you could be making a lot of boxes. If folks think we should pair up I'm willing to do that. But it's not so bad if you make them assembly line style

ETA: I was kinda torn about the cap of participants and originally was going to make it six. Doubting myself now.... Lol

For me, I read the word "partner" as each participant, so hope that helps...:).

I would like to do for each person and not be partnered...not that anyone of you beautiful souls wouldn't be an incredible craft partner, it would just be awkward for me, meaning if we partner up, then there would be the going back and forth on whom is doing what (time consuming) OR if it is meant, we choose a partner, and make only for each other. That would mean I wouldn't get one from all the other individuals whom are so incredibly talented....just my own humble opine...:)......

Ok, keeping as is and we make for everyone. I meant to say make one matchbox for each participant. I like the idea of getting matchbox treats from everyone!

Hey CCB...just wondering, since it looks like only 4 of us are participating, and we will be sending just 3 boxes, do you think postage will be a bit cheaper? As in a really small box will hold 3 matchboxes, I would think, and that is a couple bucks plus shipping would be less than $5? Just a thought?

When I mailed out the CD clocks I made for everyone, those were like $2.45 to mail, and it would hold 3 matchboxes. I got them at the P.O.
