I ordered a Hot Dog at the Ken Jo in TN. :| They slopped chili all over it. A half hour later I was done trying to explain that what they served me was a chili dog. :seeingstars: I don't know who was more confused. :help: Quote:

Its gotta be an Italian hotdog.
Fried peppers, onions and potatoes in a deep bun. |
I love me some hotdogs. I like lots of different things on my dogs. Guess it depends on what i'm in the mood for.
Down here in the south, its gotta be Bryan weenies! I also Love some white hots too!!! |
Onions, mustard, relish.
Now, I want a hot dog. Best bargain in NY: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gray's_Papaya |
there are hot dogs, then there are weiners
There are hot dogs - which I will only eat if boiled, placed in a lightly toasted bun. No fixings on them.
Then there are the New York System hot weiners I grew up with in R.I. - a grilled premuim weiner placed in a steamed bun, with spicy mustard, special meat sauce, chopped onions, and celery salt - in that order. Wrapped in twos in wax paper, then a paper bag. The oil from the special sauce used to leak straight thru everything. Gawd I miss being able to eat like that. |
Dirty water dog with everything, extra banana peppers. No slaw. Never understood who the heck decided to put a side dish on a dog. Just kinda strange to me.
|
yummmm love slaw dog with mustard about once a year from the orange tree

Chicago Style

I prefer Oscar Meyer weiners, with ketchup and onions. Sometimes, I will add some mustard.
Have you ever tried a fried bologna sandwich?? lol Very tasty, haha |

Nothing goes on my hot dog, though my hot dog may go in a bun. None of those icky seeded or fancy ass buns, though, just a plain cheap soft bun. I see all the crap that people load up on their hot dogs and wonder why they bother with meat, since you can't possibly taste it through the piles of relishes and pickles and mustards and peppers and other such nonsense. Just skip the hot dog and put the condiments directly on a bun; it'll have fewer calories and you won't waste the money paying for the meat that you won't even taste.
Not that I have strong feelings about hot dogs and all the crap people that put on them or anything.....:giggle: |
I SO want a hot dog right now!
For those who might not know...if you are craving the Chicago style hot dog, and do not live in Chicago...you can order them through Vienna Beef. They send you the whole "hot dog" kit: dogs, buns, condiments, fixins. I know this because I ordered them for a homesick ex once as a present. (yes that's right...a present. Gift wrapped hotdogs...just call me a romantic. LOL) |
I can't get off the weeny train
