the Summer Strut- Iron Maiden, Scorpions, Foreigner and Loverboy...
it was at Anaheim stadium- and I was 14 if I remember correctly? |
My next concert was Sting...Nothing Like the Sun tour and it was much better...
|
I think my first concert was Santana at Jones Beach.....or maybe it was Genesis at Madison Square Garden.
|
Genesis, 1979, Blackpool ABC
...although the next gig I went to had a far bigger impact, Adam and the Ants, somewhere in Cheshire (I can't remember exactly where). My brother's then girlfriend and I went together and we managed to chat-up the security guard in the 'under 4ft pen' (for the real little kids) and got an unobstructed view totally uncrushed by teenyboppers who were screaming for the band. |
I never got to go to concerts as a teenager. My mom said "people smoke pot there, you might accidentally get high" LMFAO.. So, I didn't get to go until my mid 20's. It was Bush, No Doubt, and Goo Goo Dolls their first tour. There was a big riot and we got caught up in it, had a lot of fun. We got home, it was all over the news that night and I had a TON of calls on my answering machine from people wanting me to call them back to assure them I wasn't hurt.
Since then I've been to see several other bands. Most concerts I've been back stage and have autographs from the bands. |
The Commodores Gloria Estafan & The Sound Machine Bruce Springsteen Johnny Mathas These are the ones that come to mind. I have no idea of which came first or second. |
My very first concert was "The Police" back in 1980.
Other concerts attended: Loverboy The Go-Go's & Flock of Seagulls The Cars Prince - Purple Rain Tour Whitney Houston (when she could sing) too bad she lost the voice now. Mariah Carey Donna Summer Blondie Heart Duran Duran Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo Phil Collins Elton John Celine Dion Sheryl Crowe Loreena McKennitt George Michael (25 year tour) |
My first concert was Huey Lewis & the News sometime in the early 80s.
|
Remember Bill Graham?
I won tickets to see Rick Springfield, presented by Bill Graham at the Concord Pavilion. I still have the ticket stubs, envelope they came in and my (extra large and glossy) concert book!! I believe I was 11 or 12 at the time!

Procol Harum. The warmup was some up and coming group named the Eagles.
It was held at the Kennedy Center in DC, and my mom took me ("that odd smell is pot, dear"). This is the mom that also used to let me listen to her Black Sabbath albums. Cool mom. |
Chicago at the Fillmore in SF.... many, many, moons ago.
|

The Monkees 1965....afterwards I got to meet Davy and Micky. I was 12 thought I was the coolest person ever!
|
AC/DC Back in Black tour 1980 i think. How or why my parents let me go alone with just another 14 year old is a mystery. The women's bathrooms were scary. It was a great concert though. Hell Bells really rocked the house complete with dry ice smoke. Very cool.

1987: U2 The Joshua Tree at what is now Lakewood Church |
For my 21st birthday, my first (real) girlfriend took me to a Doobie Brothers concert as a gift because I loved this song:
