Oh, yeah, Matthew's comment pissed me off too (truth be told).

Or, I was being nice to Madonna. You decide.

Also: I am not naked. Just I'm wearing Betty Boop pj bottoms and a super ratty old A-Shirt. I guess it's okay for the pizza delivery-person to see me like that.

Definitely. Get extra sauce and extra cheese.

I dunno. She's kinda douchebaggy in drag.

If you can't say something nice, get out of the thread!

(and order pizza....you grump!)

Luv 08-29-2011 04:35 PM

Im not a fan but I like her better as a butch

Guy 08-29-2011 04:46 PM

Why was she all hunched over? Looked like an old man. The beer wasn't very cool either

Now now. I think she looked sufficiently foxy. I just think that often drag is pretty boring because people act so douchebaggy when they're doing it.

I do love Lady Gaga and her balls! I love her shock effect!

I was only joking, I never meant to piss anyone off ~ I apologize

Diva 08-29-2011 11:43 PM

Say what You will....but that performance was genius, in my opinion.

Oh, Matthew, it didn't piss me off. :) I was just going to say something like, "Yo, young lad, hold up there!". I was thinking about how if you were old enough to be around in Madonna's hey-day you probably would never say that. She was/is one of a kind!

That's all. Certainly no need to apologize!

I had mixed reactions to Gaga's drag performance. I like that it mixed things up, but it was in no way "genius." (See: 1984, Annie Lennox. Very similar). So, it wasn't groundbreaking, plus she set a bad example by puffing the cigarette and swilling the beer. I also think she came off looking like a poor man's Ralph Macchio in The Outsiders and talked like she was on Jersey Shore.
The performance was good, I thought, and it's always good to see the reactions.
I like Gaga, but I was very mixed on this.

Diva 08-30-2011 09:21 AM

Annie Lennox is genius quality, too.
It was an 'act'....it was theatre. I'm not a real Gaga fan, but I was impressed.

She's appealing to her younger little Monster crowd, she's a different, quirky, nerdy, and connects with kids that way. She puts a message out which is accept people for who and what they are. A lot of shit has been done before, she's today's sensation not an 80's one.

Very good points, and I agree with you on them. I was just talking with a friend, who pointed out Gaga sends out a much more positive message of acceptance than for instance Katy Perry with "I Kissed a Girl," which made it seem naughty and freaky and not natural.

Katy Perry is a fucking barsexual. It's so annoying of her.

:canoworms:

ETA - although for some reason it didn't offend me when Jill Sobule did it.

Madonna was first around when I was like 4 and 5 yrs old so I wasn't old enough to really see her until I got older ~ she is one of a kind though there is no doubt :-)

She is very different, and thats what I love the most about her ~ yes she does things that have been one before this much is true, but she does it in a very different way than Annie and Madge have. She's definately someone who is appealing more to the youth of today, as we all know that even though we still have a LONG way to go to gain acceptance for the LGBTQ community its in many ways so much better today thus Gaga can appeal to the younger crowd ....... I'm very much a fan :)

I still love the song in general, but I guess as time has worn on the video hasn't impressed Me much though I'll always be a Katy Perry fan :D

I asked myself "What the heck is a branding expert?" It ought to refer to a working cowboy heating up irons. Do people actually pay other people to tell them how to be? Gosh!
