Seven Seconds

I took a chance on this new Netflix series. The acting is excellent and the story is absorbing and well-written. This is season 1.

From IMDb:

When 15-year-old black cyclist Brenton Butler dies in a hit-and-run accident -- with a white police officer behind the wheel of the vehicle -- Jersey City explodes with racial tension. This crime drama explores the aftermath of the accident, which includes an attempted cover-up by the police department and a volatile trial. Assistant prosecutor KJ wants to prosecute the hit-and-run as a hate crime, in addition to a negligent homicide. The longer the case drags on without a resolution, the more tense the situation becomes.

Regina King stars.

This looks excellent. I planned to watch it after only reading the first sentence of the description. I stopped watching the trailer part way through because trailers always spoil it for me.

I am going to start watching this tonight! I have been searching for something to watch and not finding anything I liked.

Sorry I screwed up! I posted this in the wrong thread. This is a movie and not a series, original or otherwise!

Wild Wild Country

Watched all 6 episodes of Wild Wild Country, most excellent and informative documentary series.
Had no prior knowledge of Osho (aka Bhagwan/Rajneesh) prior to watching series... as have never been involved in "cults" (christian or otherwise - grinz).
Reflections afterwards: glad that I'm a Canadian! Between the fear of those Oregonians involved in this story and Sheela's fear of losing power, was amazed that the so-called guru (Osho) who preached awareness was so unaware of what was going on under his very nose (ditto for all of Osho's followers).

Netflix has slotted April 13 for the launch of its Lost In Space remake of the 1965 series!

Season 4 of Bosch on Amazon Prime streaming now.

I think it is the best season yet. I've been binging it the last couple of days and unfortunately am on episode #10, the last one.

I checked online and it was renewed for season 5.

If you get Hulu, season 2 of the Handmaid's Tale will begin streaming April 25th. Fantastic series.

The only negative with Hulu is that they only stream one episode per week so no binging is possible!

Putting in another plug for The Looming Tower, also on Hulu. I finished it this week. If you have Hulu, it is truly a series worth watching. All 10 episodes are now available.

I watched this for the first time last night and was intrigued by it. Not sure if I”ll continue to watch it (there may be too many triggers for me and I’m not a big fan of Thandie Newton), but it is thought provoking with some of my favorite actors (Jeffrey Wright and Ed Harris). Looks like another good series from HBO.

I posted this TV series in this thread, as I did a search for "HBO" and "HBO series" and "HBO television" and came up blank, and didn't know where else to put it - still a newbie in a sense.
I'm sorry Orema that Westworld was a trigger for you. Meditation is a way of life for me and I have used triggers to follow my reactions and dissolve them (at least, if one goes to the very end of the reaction - everything being connected inside).

I totally get it, charley. Finding the right thread can sometimes be an exhausting task. I've done (and will probably do again) the very same thing. It happens. :) I just know how frustrating it can be for the regular posters of a thread.

Watched the whole thing over the weekend! I never really cared for the original but this one was SUPER!! 1. The gals are large and in charge!! 2. FX are quite good. 3. Other changes re: cast were a surprise and done very well! :koolaid:

The series finale of Sense 8 will be on Netflix on June 8th.

I had commented in another thread (can't remember which one) about the series.

I loved the diversity of the cast, the truly beautiful locales and I also found the series utterly confusing.

I will watch the last one anyway as it may tie it all together for me.

PS: A side note of trivia that is interesting, back in 2016, flilm director Lilly Wachowski came out as a transgender woman. She was the creator of the Matrix series of movies. Lilly and her sister Lana, created Sense 8.

Sense 8 has as its leads, a gay male couple, a lesbian couple and a straight couple. One half of the lesbian couple is a transwoman. (Not my assumption, I looked it up online).

It is this diversity of cast that feels really good to watch. "Our family" represented front and center, if you will.

If you are into crime drama, this one is a good one

Amazon Greenlights Barry Jenkins & Plan B’s ‘Underground Railroad’ Limited Series With Jenkins Directing All 11 Episodes

Amazon Studios landed the new take on the story of the underground railroad from Jenkins’ PASTEL and Brad Pitt’s Plan B, in March 2017 with a script-to-series commitment.

The project is based on Colson Whitehead’s bestselling novel The Underground Railroad, which won a Pulitzer Prize a month after Amazon bought the adaptation. The book, which drew critical praise for its imaginative blend of history and magical fable – moving beyond the boundaries of realism in its depiction of a mythical underground train that transports slaves across an alternate America — also was a 2016 National Book Award winner and Oprah Book Club pick.

The Underground Railroad, which will be released on Amazon Prime Video, centers on young Cora, a slave on a cotton plantation in Georgia. Life is hell for all the slaves, but especially bad for Cora; an outcast even among her fellow Africans, she is coming into womanhood—where even greater pain awaits. When Caesar, a recent arrival from Virginia, tells her about the Underground Railroad, they decide to take a terrifying risk and escape.

The underground railroad is no mere metaphor — engineers and conductors operate a network of tracks and tunnels constructed in secret beneath the very Southern soil upon which they’ve been enslaved. Cora and Caesar’s first stop is South Carolina, in a city that initially seems like a haven. But its placid surface masks an insidious scheme designed for its black denizens. And even worse: Ridgeway, a relentless slave catcher of mythic origin, is close on their heels. Forced to flee again, Cora embarks on a harrowing flight, state-by-state, seeking true freedom in a heroine’s journey carved through the soil and soul of America.

“It’s an absolute gift to have Barry Jenkins commit to directing all the episodes for our upcoming limited series The Underground Railroad,” said Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios. “Barry’s eye for character and sustained exhilarating, emotional storytelling style ensures that this project is in the right hands. We can’t wait to get started and bring this significant story to our Prime Video audience.”

Amazon has found success with another alternate-history drama series, The Man In The High Castle, set to return for Season 3 later this year.

Pastel, founded by Jenkins, Adele Romanski and Sara Murphy as a home for artists to create provocative, boundary-pushing work in film, television and beyond, is executive producing The Underground Railroad with Brad Pitt’s Plan B.

Very interesting to say the least, and I hope it's picked-up for another year!

Is this on Netflix? We watched Fearless (I believe that is what it is called) It is about the Brazilian bull riders in the PBR. Great show. It was sad to see and hear that most of the riders felt they were treated differently than the American, Canadian and Australian riders. Since we do follow the PBR I can see how and why they felt the way they do. The language barrier seems to be the biggest obstacle that the Brazillian riders and their families face. I also learned (must live under a rock) most people who are from Brazil speak Portuguese, who knew? We also found out that the Brazillian people have a similar event in Brazil like the World PBR finals that take place in Vegas. Except it is bigger and every seat in the arena is filled, unlike some previous PBR events my wife and I have attended. Anyway, sorry to ramble. Happy binge watching!

I should have read up on what 8 seconds was before replying. Sorry. The 8 Seconds Homoe was posting about has zero to do with the rodeo. Once again, I’m sorry for the derail I was trying to delete it but can’t figure it out.

The Break With Michelle Wolf... started June 3, with new episodes every Sunday.

If the name sounds familiar, she's the comic they hired for the White House Correspondents' Dinner.

She might not be everyone's cup of tea but I enjoy her!

I can highly recommend Unforgotten, a BBC police drama. First 2 seasons are on Netflix, I just finished the latest season on BBC 1 and enjoyed it so much I binged watched the 1st 2 seasons again. Its always a cold case, hence the title. Keeps you guessing til the end and it doesnt shy away from what is at times pretty harrowing subject matter {could be triggery}

Forever & King Lear coming in September...

Amazon Original Series Forever, casts Fred Armisen and Maya Rudolph as a suburban married couple who decide to get out of the daily routine they’ve followed for the past 12 years. Their decision ends up being a bigger one than either of them intended.

King Lear is modern retelling of the famous Shakespeare tragedy. The series’ star-studded ensemble cast is led by Sir Anthony Hopkins as the titular king, whose efforts to divide his kingdom among his daughters meet with tragic results as he descends into madness. Joining Hopkins in the cast are Emma Thompson, Emily Watson, Jim Broadbent, Andrew Scott, Jim Carter, and Christopher Eccleston, among others familiar faces.

I'm sorry I don't have the exact dates these premier.

As I watched this, I thought "This is like there was a transporter accident involving Martha Stewart and Dita Von Teese. (Star Trek, Voyager reference, the Tuvix episode.)

There are evil amoral puppets and elaborate baked goods. Just in time for Halloween. Now streaming on Netflix.

And then, for me, a truly delightful surprise!
