Not quite settled in, but finally made OKC my new digs. The ride to work is an hour less each way now.

Honestly, if it wasn't for Starbuck and my ex, nothing would have got moved
I came down with either the flu or stomach virus last weekend and couldn't do a thing except hug the porcelain. Even water hated me along with Gatorade. So, we have my ex, who is going through chemo, Starbuck who just had shoulder surgery and me who was whining like a baby because I was ill. It was like the blind leading the blind.

I'm up for hanging out over a cheap meal or coffee whenever any of ya'll are up OKC way.

Sorry you were sick. Glad you live closer to work. My niece goes to college in okc and my best friend and her gf live in Edmond so I travel down to okc from time to time, I will drop you a line when I plan on coming next time.

WolfyOne 03-03-2011 09:17 PM

Thanks Jagg and that would be great the next time you're out this way

DamselFly wanted to hang with some of us, so maybe we could make it happen for her
I'm sure Starbuck would like to meet some others from here as well

DamselFly 03-06-2011 07:28 AM

What a trip, Wolfy!

Glad you made it here, Wolfy! Sounds like quite a trip! Are you feeling better?
I'm feeling like a real Oklahoman! I bought my first load of feed AND a pocketknife last week! Plus I now have a t-shirt with a vintage tractor on it! And some new jeans-Lee, boys size 14, LoL! My dresses and pumps just don't work on the farm! Too many gopher holes.
Seriously, I definitely want to meet as many of y'all as I can in OKC! Anyone know a good place for good coffee? My housemate is going on dayshift but I can find out when she's off one day soon. She'll be glad to drive me to the city and let me hang out for a while. (I don't drive.)
Namaste,
DamselFly :blueheels:
Happy Losar and Year of the Iron Rabbit!

DamselFly 03-11-2011 07:52 PM

went to OKCity

I finally made it OKCity for a dr.'s appt. Not good news, but I'll deal with it. Now I've got aapts with a neurologist at the NeuroScience Institute, a neuro-opthomologist, and a glaucoma specialist! The two eye docs are on the same day but some time apart. Perhaps someone in OKCity would like to meet me for coffee inbetween? This would be in the morning, so I understand if no-one can make it. The appt is in early April. Let me know if anyone's interested. If not then, then perhaps some other time someone could show me around OKCity? Or meet me for coffee somewhere?
If anyone lives near Ardmore or Ada and wants to meet somewhere closer, that's good. Or even Norman. I'm fairly amenable, though I don't drive. (I have a room-mate who wants me to meet friends.) Also, can anyone put me in touch with a local sangha?
If anyone wants to talk on the phone, let me know and we can exchange numbers. Due to my eye problems, being on the computer is hard for me sometimes.
Namaste, y'all!
DamselFly

WolfyOne 03-11-2011 08:15 PM

My work schedule is never the same Damsel,
so if I'm not working the morning you're in OKC,
I don't mind meeting you and hanging out over coffee.

Starbuck 03-12-2011 03:07 AM

Finally someone talking in here!

Hey Wolfy, if I'm not at one of my VA appointments, I'd love to meet you guys for coffee :) :tea:

DamselFly 03-16-2011 12:30 PM

I have a friend who is Buddhist and I wrote and asked her if she could help. She sent me a response and I'll share it with you here.

She said and I quote her word for word...Not sure what kind of Buddhist she is. If she's my kind, SGI, there's a center in OK city. 3800 N Cromwell Avenue , Oklahoma City, OK 73112-6328 (405) 947-1101. If she's a different kind then the best bet is the internet. Thanks for asking!

DamselFly 03-16-2011 07:50 PM

thanks, Wolfy!

thanks for the info, Wolfy! i've gotten into contact w/2 sanghas in OKC. i'm not a SCI Buddhist but might get in touch w/them anyway. never hurts to check out all possibilities!
gassho,
DamelFly

DamselFly 03-22-2011 01:25 PM

When to meet?

ok, everyone! i'm going to be in OKC on Wed , April 6th for 2 dr's appts, both at OU hospital. the first is at 8PM, the second is at 11:30AM. we could try to meet for coffee inbetween or meet for lunch after the second, whichever would be better for your schedules. i doubt that i'll be seeing well after either. since i don't know how long either will last, i'm thinking that maybe lunch at 1PM somewhere might be good, though i'll probably just nibble. i usually don't feel that great after eye exams and haven't been feeling well in general. but get together, let me know what you decide , and we'll take it from there. i really hope that someone or, i hope, more can meet me then. i really want to make some local friends, femme and butch. if not then, then let's decide on a different time. my only time constraint is my housemate's work schedule, as she's my wheels. but she's really nice about trying to get me to meet you, and i think you'll like her, too. she doesn't get the B/f dance-i'm the first femme she's ever met.
hope we can do this!
namaste,

Pres I'm off that day, so just let me know where the hospital is and I'll look for a place near there for an inexpensive lunch. I'll be in Stillwater in the morning, but back in OKC by noon. If I'm right, OU is near the VA Hospital and that's where I'll be in the afternoon.

Starbuck 04-02-2011 11:43 PM

Wolfy, OU is pretty much across the street from the VA, on 13th and Lincoln. Going west down 13th street, there is a small little cafe called Beatnix cafe on the left side of the road, just before you get to Floral and Hardy floral shoppe at 13th and Broadway. It's a neat, inexpensive place to eat. Hope you like it, if you go there.

Goo 04-08-2011 03:39 PM

I'm hoping to relocate to Tulsa/Bixby/Jenks area within the next few months to be with my sweetie.
Absolutely adore Tulsa...It's such a beautiful city.
I do agree about the drivers, there are some crazy ones out there :)

Thank you so much Wolfy...I was unlucky last time I was down in Tulsa, got blasted by the snowstorm that hit mid-February...
But other than that weird storm that hit, the weather was absolutely pristine :)

DamselFly 04-23-2011 12:45 PM

how's everyone make out in the storms?

how'd everyone make it in yesterday's storms? anyone hurt by tornadoes? we had some pass by, but none got close enough to harm the farm. there was some small hail and lots of thunder, lightning, and finally-xixiTao, RAIN. since we've been in a drought for months and a burn ban with severe fires longer than i've been here, i was so happy to hear it! i actually went out in it and did a happy femme dance (after the hail stopped, of course). we're supposed to get bad weather this weekend, so be careful, everyone!

I'd love to, Damsel, but I have two appointments that last from 0800-1145 then I have another appt at 1-2pm. Maybe if your next appt isn't on a Wednesday it could work out. :rrose:

Welcome to our neck of the woods, Okiebug61! Glad to see another person post in here!

WolfyOne 06-10-2011 07:53 PM

I just read this

To celebrate the opening night of the 2011 OKC Pride weekend, the Grammy Award-winning trio, The Pointer Sisters, will perform live during an outdoor block party and concert on Friday, June 24. The block party begins at 4:00 p.m. and will conclude with a performance by The Pointer Sisters at 9:30 p.m.

Anyone going to OKC Pride?

I also read that Tulsa Pride is this Sunday

DamselFly 06-24-2011 06:18 PM

HEat advisory, and other news!

just to let Y/you know, as if Y/you couldn't tell-lol, most of OK is under a HEAT ADVISORY! so don't go out unless Y/you have to do so; stay hydrated, and keep as cool as possible!
this heat is one of the reasons that i am moving back to the mountains (NC or WV). the older i get, the less i can handle 95 degrees and up!
take care E/everyone!
Damselfly :blueheels:

WolfyOne 06-26-2011 09:58 PM

Sorry to see you're leaving after just getting here a few months back
Sorry we didn't get to catch up with each other while you were here
Safe travels to you and I hope you settle in somewhere you'll stay

Starbuck 06-29-2011 12:34 AM

Bye Bye Damsel, I hope the the mountains will lend you cooler temps that will bid you better health. Take care!

DamselFly 07-12-2011 04:04 PM

Where's the rain?

Today I saw on the weather that OKCity and it's surrounding counties got pelted with hard rain and hail. Where is the rain HERE? I must live in a geologically dry area! No rain here in weeks! The neighbor's cows are starving, and the pond is almost dry!
DamselFly

Starbuck 09-18-2011 03:22 PM

Now I'm a born and bred Sooners fan, but how about both our teams?! The Sooners and the Cowboys! They're both off to a terrific start and I hope it continues! Woo hoo! Let's get some more action in here, shall we??

JAGG 09-18-2011 03:46 PM

Not a native Okie and college ball kinda bores me. But I do love going to TU games. I know they are a small private school and rarely have a good team but I still love going with my friends. And they play their hearts out every second, can't ask for much more.
I love the NFL. My Steelers!!!! And I love watching Dallas and the Ravens lose!!!!!!!!!!! So this Sunday I'm batting 1000 !!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHA Oh and did I mention I love watching Tony Romo's candyass get drilled into the turf. Such a pussy. Just sayin..... and meaning it.

Starbuck 09-18-2011 04:05 PM

Hey Jagg, sorry about TU's loss, I know they play their heart out. I think it's unfair the schedule they get sometimes.

LOL, your comment was funny about Tony Romo, Dallas (I can't stand them either!) and the Ravens. I'm not much on the NFL but I'll watch it if nothing else is on, preferrably the St. Louis Rams just becuase the quarterback is Sam Bradford, who was a Sooner quarterback a few years back.

WolfyOne 09-18-2011 04:42 PM

Starbuck, I think the next time JAGG gets our way,
we should all meet up and hang out somewhere

I love Sam Bradford he is such a good guy. Great quality player all the way around. Just give him a couple years and I think Rams will be hard to beat.

JAGG 09-18-2011 07:37 PM

Hey it's a deal!!!! One of my closest friends lives in Edmond. I was just there too. But I will let you guys know when I'm going again and we can meet up somewhere. Thanks for the invite!!!!!!

Starbuck 09-18-2011 09:46 PM

Excellent! I'm on here every day and I'm pretty sure so is Wolfy so drop one of us a line and we'll get together!

JAGG 09-19-2011 07:56 PM

Ok will do.

HELP

Ummmm

help?

My son is stationed at Tinker and is thinking about buying his first car...

And came to me for advice...

*Blink*

This is how I buy cars.... "I want to spend this much and I don't want it to break down... what do you have?"

Yes, I have bought a lemon or two in my life...

So.... Does anyone have any experience with reputable car dealers in the OKC area?

Please and Thank you

Starbuck 10-26-2011 11:25 PM

Hi Random,

I've bought two trucks from David Stanley Ford on 36th and May, just off of I-44, mainly because my dad is a technician there. But they've been fair with me and treated me well. I hope that helps. :)

Starbuck 11-05-2011 10:35 PM

Hey did any of you Okies feel either of the earthquakes?

WolfyOne 11-05-2011 10:51 PM

I didn't feel the earthquake and I was up when it happened :|
I have to be up at that time for work for the next 2 months
