For those of you with Xbox 360s, do you have Xbox Live accounts? If you do I wanna friend ya. :)
Btw, I tried playing Oblivion a couple years ago, but I kept getting stuck on the quests and without a game guide it got too frustrating. *frowny face* |
I'm Logicaly on Xbox Live

This gamer chick is more into board games. Especially strategic games like Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne, Pandemic, and Shadows Over Camelot. I played a new game tonight called Race for the Galaxy that had me looking like this --> :seeingstars: by night's end. It was awesome! :D
I still want to learn how to play Magic: The Gathering. :stillheart: |
Anyone playing Aion?
Heya all, I am new to this board and thanks for letting me in on your fun :hangloose:
I love gaming - Currently I am playing Aion. It is an MMO, been out for about 2 years; I think; it is also 15 bucks a month to play. It is a lot like WoW, which I also play, been playing for 6 years. have several 70+ characters, but only 2 to 85 since the last expansion. I am currently on Dalaran - have a priest and hunter - my druid is like 72 i think, and am looking for a new guild - most of my guild split or splintered into smaller guilds. If anyone knows a good friendly guild please give me a holla. I actually think I like Aion better, in some ways, than WoW - it only goes to level 55 and the grind to level is a bit of a bitch, but you get WINGS!!! No mounts - can fight in the air - it is pretty kick ass. the graphics in Aion make WoW look like a Commodore 64 game. I just started playing about 2 months ago and have a level 30 cleric (always a healer - its in my blood i guess). I am not too big on web based games they just seem too slow for me, but that is just me. If anyone is interested in grouping or anything in either one I have several characters on several realms in both Aion and WoW. Have a great day! T- |

I am a reformed Magic addict. I blame my brother.
I also love Changeling and Werewolf the Apocolypse and Vampire Masquerade for pen and paper gaming happiness. My xbox screen is wolfbittenpoet. |
Thnx for all the suggestions. I think I may take at look at Runescape again.
WoW appeals to me, but seems way to team/guild/horde etc oriented for me. I like games that I can play alone or w/ a few. I have Oblivion Elder Scrolls for PC but havent tried it out yet. Someone mentioned the way some get soooooooo serious about their gaming. Some of it is unbelievable. Just gotta keep in mind that there are alot of cowards out there that get brave sitting alone behind a keyboard. You see that on all kinds of sites & social networks. They get all ballsy online, but would cower under a table if you walked up in RL. LMAO |
Tonight I learned about two new (to me) board games that sound right up my alley:
Have any of you played these before? Opinions? Advice? :) |
Camo - While there are some parts of WoW that are geared towards groups, it's a great game for solo play especially when first starting out. Yes, being in a guild or knowing other players can make it easier and more fun if you're into the social aspects but it's not anywhere near a requirement. I leveled my first toon almost to max playing either by myself or with my partner.
Of course, I'm biased but I think if you're looking for a quality MMO experience, there is none better. I'd encourage you to at least give the trial a try. :) |

Its great to see that it can be done solo as well. Another question. Can you play successfully for a long time w/o having to spend RT $$$ to buy stuff? I know there is a mthly fee. Im ref $$$$ over that amt. The game I played for a yr got to the point where to play well, I had to buy the best weapons/armor etc. I spent some RT $$$ but the higher I leveled the more $$$ it was taking. It was becoming a $$$ pit, w/ nothing to show for it. I dont mind spending some on entertainment, but the amt was climbing at a fast rate. In a few more levels I est it would take almost $100 a mth to even keep up. I quit the game at that point. |
WoW does not have the option to purchase gear, weapons, etc. with real life money. There are some vanity items like pets and mounts that you can purchase from Blizzard but they are just for looks. Blizzard is very anti-gold selling/buying and the trading of in game items, currency or accounts for real life funds is a violation of their ToS and can result in lifetimes bans. Of course, that doesn't stop the gold farmers/hackers.
Once you get to the end game, the "gearing up" process usually involves dungeons to gear up for raiding and then raid drops to progressively gear up for higher raid content. Of course, these are both group activities but I know a lot of people who have played for years and never raided. As for dungeons, the new LFG feature they added a little while back has made it easier to get groups. It's a nice system that automatically groups people interested in the same dungeon. Que times can be long but if you're a tank or healer, it's almost insta que. Again, this is if you're interested in grouping but you don't have to. :) |
Thnx to your info, WoW is sounding good. I think I may give the free trial a shot. I was looking at some of the books at half prc bks the other day. It looks overwhelming to a newbie. LOL
I love the idea that I can get what I need to play, in game. That makes the fee not so bad. Will still be cheaper than the game I was playing. I enjoy doing quests, or hired services. Im not into PvP. very much. Ususally do only whats needed to lev or acquire something needed. Unless Im hired. LOLLOL |
If you're not into PvP, make sure to pick a PvE realm. Or RP. Or "Normal" I think even. Suddenly I can't remember what all they call them but choose one that isn't PvP. :)
On PvE servers, you can flag yourself for PvP if you choose but you have to specifically activate that option. On PvP servers, after level 10 you are auto flagged pretty much any time you're out in the world. I'm really glad that we picked a PvE server the first time or we probably wouldn't have kept playing. I go through phases where I do a lot of battlegrounds but I really don't like world PvP. |
Ok, that may be the deciding factor to tip me over to WoW. LOL
I love being able to choose about PvP. I dont mind it if its an arena type thing. I just get tired of logging on and finding that Ive been given multi beat downs daily. All your gold is gone, weapons and armor damaged. Then you gotta waste time and money redoing it all. Or the vendettas where whole grps hit you, bc someone let them know your stats, or you are holding $$ you cant bank bc you are logged off. Thats not battle, those are cheap shots. I have done arena and that was cool. Then it really is about the best fighter, not just about who spent the most money. LOL |
Just got chewed up by zombies on COD Black Ops. Can't make it past round 3.
|
I enjoy games anywhere from RPG's, shooters, action, wrestling and survival horror.
I just started the game "Alan Wake" on Xbox 360. Anybody play this one? |
I'm not as much a shooter fan as I was when I was younger. I like role playing games. I have played Fable 2, star wars the force unleashed, and right now I am playing Fallout 3 on my 360.
What is Alan Wake like TCB? I've never heard of it. |
Quote:
I never really got into Fable, but I've got the new one on my Game Q anyway through gamefly. I loved the Star Wars Unleashed, I can't wait to play Unleashed II. Alan Wake was a trip. It was kind of like a survival horror game without so much gore. It had a bit of a silent hill vibe, but trippy in it's own way. I only got through the first few levels until my ADD kicked in and I was ready to play something else. It has a great storyline though and graphics are excellent. |
I have beaten Fallout 3 twice now and played the downloadable add-ons too. Over a combined 85 hours invested. Great game!!
I just started playing Assassin's Creed. Has anyone else played it? |
Vampires or Zombies Live anyone?
I enjoy both on my IPhone. They are similar to games played on other platforms. Start out at level one, gain clan or horde as you go, earn blood (vamps) or flesh (Zombs), attack others, get their blood/flesh. You go up levels, you "purchase" abilities as you level up-with the blood or flesh that you earn. I was clueless when I started- got slaughtered all the time till I figured out how to stay @ each level to get enough $$ (fake$) to buy the best abilities for the best attack & defend. Now I am level 71 in vamps but some have made it to level 300. I have played/met people from literally around the world-as far away as Russia & China (multiplayer games). I love that about it. I have 2k each in clan/horde (people) that help defend against others that may declare war against you. Oh dear, I am sure I sound nutz but I enjoy the challenge & skill involved & always have something to do while waiting in a long line @ grocery store.

I was disappointed that Microsoft did most of their E3 presentation on games for the Kinect. Not everyone (moi included) is so hot on the Kinect, so we were kind of left in the cold. I read on gamespot.com that next E3 they will probably announce the next Xbox, so that will be a lot more exciting. As for Sony, they put a lot of emphasis at E3 on 3D gaming. That is exciting to me, because I think incorporating 3D into console gaming could take it to a whole new level! However, I don't have the funds to buy a PS3 any time soon, and I like the Xbox exclusive games more than the PS3's exclusives. I also hate their controller. The Xbox controller is much more ergonomic. They also put a lot of emphasis on the new PS Vita hand held. It looks cool, but I am not really into handheld gaming at this point. But I don't have a smartphone either (I have a dumb phone :( ) so if I ever get one that might change. |

It DOES involve motion gaming - same as before - except now with the integration of this tablet. It appears to be a mini tv in the palm of your hands with some added extras. I really am not sure how I feel about it. It's cool that you could still play Wii if someone else is watching TV, but I don't find that a good enough reason to run out and buy one. This tablet is also supposed to the the equivalent of using two game controllers - but I find it bulky and clumsy. In all of the previews I have seen, I haven't seen where more than one person is playing at a time. And .... how does the nunchuck fit into this thing? I only have two hands, not sure about anyone else. I was hoping the new Wii would at least play DVDs or include Blu Ray, but they claim there are too many other devices out there that have these. True, but I don't have a PS3 and don't have a desire to get one, soooo .... would really like one in my Wii. If I ever decide to get another gaming unit, it would probably be the Xbox. |

As for the Xbox 360 - if you are really into motion gaming, then the Kinect is imho the way to go. No controller to worry about. Microsoft says you are the controller, and it supports co-op games. Although the next-gen Xbox will probably be revealed next May at E3, It probably won't ship for another 6-months to a year. There is plenty of life left in the 360. It is still a great console that doesn't have graphics that seem clunky and outdated compared to PC games the way the original did after only a few years. High def tv has a lot to do with that. HD gives the graphics a big boost in quality, and that goes for all 3 consoles. I just bought my Xbox in May. I had one in 2008 but I lent it to my daughter and she "broke" it supposedly. I got the slim now and it is very quiet and has built in wifi. |

Everyone I've asked - either Xbox or PS3 - lean toward Xbox. Both have incredible graphics - but every time I go into a store, I navigate toward the Xbox. I guess because I already have a PS2, it's sort of a "been there, done that" kind of mentality. I am also not thrilled about the PS3 controller. As for Wii ... buying another controller is one thing, but yeah, another tablet? I'm sure they cost a bit more than $25. I guess we'll just have to see where it goes. Originally, I didn't think the Wii would be as popular as it is - so I could be wrong about this new platform. It's just leaving a lot of unanswered questions. |
New consoles coming next year
Looks like 2012 will be the year all the new consoles come out:

Okay, first....I played Fable 3 and I LOVED IT! I'm really surprised how much I liked it actually. I ended up killing off my whole kingdom in the end (so much for being a gracious King!)
I just found out that my roommate has Fable 2, so I'll probably play that one since we already own it. I JUST finished Tron Legacy for the Xbox 360 and I have to say....I have never played a game that pissed me off so much. I easily probably died at least 50 times on some levels. It was ridiculous. However, I'm stubborn....and I was determined to finish the game. Which I did. I prevailed!! but I'm still pissed :) |

Eh, I just started L.A. Noire. "L.A. Noire is set in Los Angeles in 1947 and challenges the player, controlling a Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) detective, to solve a range of cases across five crime desks. Players must investigate crime scenes for clues, follow up leads, and interrogate suspects, and the players' success at these activities will impact how much of the cases' stories are revealed." So far it just seems like a lot of cursing, sex and driving around. Pretty boring for the most part.

We're currently playing Rift (MMO), and have found it to be pretty damn engaging thus far. I have never played WoW so for you WoW gamers out there - I can't give a comparison.
I do know Rift has world events every month or so - and that's pretty cool having something constantly "going on" in the world. And I also know that I tend to play meatshields - yet with Rift I have a mage who's 5 levels from max (50) and I'm still loving playing him. So who kudo's to them for creating a squishy class I enjoy playing past ooooh 15 lol. We're pre ordered Star Wars The Old Republic - anyone else planing on playing this? Graphics from what I've seen are very impressive. Can't wait to get into the game to see if I like the play style. I'm a PvE'er not a PvP'er so for me it's not about how much I can slaughter Joe Blow sitting next to me... |
wooo hey gamers! why yes I do have a live account on my xbox 360..
