Andrea 09-03-2010 06:53 AM

Except when Rene says "Yes, Dear!", I am seldom called anything but Andrea.

Well there are the people that can't remember my name and call me anything that begins and ends with an A.

Many years ago, there were two people who called me Andi (not Andy. After all, I am a girl <insert curtsy smiley here>) but that really doesn't seem to fit as a rule.

Guess I just present as Andrea and that is fine with me. I love my name.

Andrea (of course)

ravfem 09-03-2010 08:28 AM

i'm rav, ravvie (ravvie poo to Pink), rev to the typonese :cheesy:

rhonda is my given name.
i don't really care what you call me, as long as it's not mean.
i'm easy like that :koolaid:

betenoire 09-03-2010 08:32 AM

Not relevant to this site, but I wanted to put out there that I have a coworker who calls me "Brandy-Girl" and it makes me want to slash her tires.

cane 09-03-2010 10:05 AM

Don't really care as long as it's not female oriented or mean. But how about Cane...?

To some of us female and women are different.

I said that was my personal preference, and that for myself do not want to be referred that way and I don't like the term. I never heard of female identified or male identified until I came online. I also said I would use it for those who do like it.

I am asking you from this point on that if you want members to respect your identity, that you leave out the value judgments (the whole jargony and assumptions) when referring to how other people identify.
It comes off as judgmental and intolerant and that is not the kind of space we are trying to create here.

I said that is how it feels to me. I also said I would refer to others how they want to be called. The topic of the thread is how do you like to be called on the site. People constantly refer to me as female identified and I am clarifying that I would prefer people didn't refer that way to me. I don't consider it to be an umbrella term that I fall under.

I've decided that y'all can call me a few other things.

Never late for dinner

I LOVE IT! Most people call me Rain here, or Rainbow, I think I have been refered to as Logic's girl a couple times. And some people call me Eeyore. I think there are still a few that refer to me as RodeoClown, which was my nickname for a long time, but now there are only a few that use it. A couple of people have the priviledge of calling me pookie, kitten, or muffin.

He calls me Bella, Princess, BabyGirl, and a few other pet names.

I too really don't care what people call me as long as its not mean. My real name is Sarah, but it's rarely used online. I'm kinda fond of Rain and Eeyore and am not really sure why when I was choosing online names I didn't have something with Eeyore in it. But its all good...

Toughy 09-03-2010 02:42 PM

T or Toughy works for me.

Isa calls me by my given name because........well..........because she can..........laughin

I actually don't really care about the given name part. It's funny, for the most, part people relate to me differently if they use my given name or if they use T/Toughy.

Oh please. A Toughy by any other name would smell just as much like popcorn.

It actually feels weird to me to hear anyone call me Stephanie outside of work and older family members. I've been called Arwen as a nickname since high school...and since that was my freshman year...that was a few years ago. LOL

lol at my "stepdown" I thanked (insert real name) and until she actually came up and got the award no one knew who I was talking about...hahahahaha. Yes, because I can.

A story about who calls me what.

Many years ago, during the 'courtship' phase (if you want to call it that....it was like bees to pollen), my now ex wife (16 years) spontaneously called me by my family nick name. I had never told her that and she had not at this point met my bio-family. How the hell did she do that....laughin....many folks have come close, but no one outside the bio-family ever nailed it before or after her.

-----------
dang it potty............you just reminded me I should have done the 'popcorn' in a thread instead of replying with words........

Bit 09-03-2010 08:22 PM

What I prefer to be called is Cath or Cathie, but I've used Bit as a screen name for more than a dozen years now, so I understand when people call me Bit. At one point I actually answered to it--had a partner who preferred using it instead of Cathie--but these days I feel more comfortable with Cath.

T D 09-03-2010 08:36 PM

TD or Stevin here. Since Stevin is still a relatively new name for me, I still get TD a lot. Either one is fine with me.

However I introduce myself as Stevin to new people I meet.

My real name is Crystal, but hardly anybody uses that. Even my parents have called me "Jake" since birth, so it's all good. Or Chris, which I'm not a big fan of although I do allow one ex to call me that since she's never called me anything else. Oh, and my mom does have a habit of embarrassing me in public by calling me "Chrissy-poo". *shudder* :|

Most folks usually just call me "dixie" and that seems to work best for me.

MrSunshine calls me Dixie Crystal Sugar, but since he's my bestest buddy he gets away with it. Heaven forbid anyone else call me that. :twitch:

ugh...the new client at work insists on calling me Chris. It's driving me nutty, but despite reminding her of my actual name she says she likes Chris better. And that her "gaydar" went off upon meeting me because I remind her of her bunkmate in prison. And then she winked... :| *help*

so we should call you Bubbah?

nycfem 09-03-2010 09:05 PM

I am open to being called anything. Suddenly surprise me with a fun, sweet, or outrageous nickname. I have a fondness for friends having special nicknames for one another or just for me. I'm also cool with you calling me whatever you're in the mood to call me at the moment. I promise I'll respond :). And I also promise that I won't call you anything besides your name in return, unless you specifically request it, of course.

Otherwise I like to be called Jennifer only because I seem to know more "Jenny"s. I'm also fine with nycfembbw or some variation. I was told by one BF-er that she truly always assumed "bbw" stood for BB's wife. I'm cool with that*

*though it really means: Big Beautiful Woman

I am an only child. And I do not even resemble a Bubbah... :| As for the new client, she needs to project her prison excitement memories on someone else thankyouverymuch...LOL

oneye 09-04-2010 01:32 AM

*wincing*

i always get a little hesitant to answer these things because, in another place (okay...site) at another time, i was hassled a great deal about identity and my identity specifically. but, you can't be a wuss forever. :bolt:

as for names, i am cool with oneye, one or nick, which is the name i've gone by for the last 22 years. i do not like to be called by my given name at all, and i LOATHE being called and have come close to committing homicide when addressed as 'nikki.' DO NOT DO IT!!!

pronounically speaking, i prefer he/him. no, i don't feel that i'm male, and i'm not transitioning and won't likely do so. however, i've never in my life felt like a female really...from the time i can remember. honestly, i've often felt like i've been floating around out there in a sea of gender labels without a life preserver. i ask to be referred to with male pronouns because i feel most closely able to relate to them.

now, if you have gathered up tomatoes to hurl, have at it. i'm ready!! :outfield: :seeingstars:
